@@hawkstringfellow honestly that’s fair! I understand why a lot of people don’t like Discovery at all. I enjoy Discovery because I enjoy most things related to Star Trek. I also find a lot of the supporting characters (like Saru, Stammets, and even Book now) pretty interesting. I even enjoy making fun of some of the bad things (like oh Michael Burnham is gonna save the Galaxy…again) but I also like celebrating the high points (like the introduction of Pike as Captain in season 2 or most of the stuff involving “Zora” in Seasons 3 and 4)

The reason they used the personal transporters to go from the bridge to the ready room is so when they tried to do the reverse they alone were immune to the affects of time jumping (in that they remembered each time jump). It was a plot device. And having Stamets' tardigrade DNA giving him the same ability was also a plot device borrowed from the Harry Mudd episode ('Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad') so they could work as a team.
@thomashong2938

I would guess that Burnham and Rayner didn’t use their personal transporters in the Que Sera Sera timeline where the Breen used Progenitor tech to wipe out the Federation.

The reason that the Discovery crew are going to follow Moll and L'ak is because presumably during the 6 hours the Discovery crew lost, Moll and L'ak found the next clue and are heading where it leads. Moll and L'ak knew to go where Discovery was because the time bug broadcasted their location as explained earlier when an unauthorized transmission was detected by the crew.

@@Keither754 But, the whole point about Star Trek is to over think. Star Trek was always about getting the audience to think beyond, to stretch their imaginations, not to just passively ride a copycat episode they already rode before. This modern Star Trek, Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds are all just flash and fire with no substance. Sorry to sh!t on it but there are lots of turds already in this litter box.

You must remember Discovery was an early built starship back in the day when they were built at the docks at Sam Francisco. The dedication park in the TOS Enterprise states it was built there and as mentioned by others it was shown in JJ’s Star Trek. As for the episode I would rate it as very good but with the occasional writing hiccups we are used to in Discovery.

The only thing I'm disappointed at, is that season in once again is another galaxy wide ending scenario.

@@thomashong2938 Robin was fun and playful on set even when he needed to be serious! Here's an example: on 'What Dreams May Come' we were preparing to shoot the child double funeral scene and were all told not to bother or talk to Robin or he'd lose focus and go on a comedic run. I was an extra and had just been scolded because I wore a beard that day, and that I would not be on camera. As punishment, I was sent to the last pew of the church, well out of camera sight. As my luck would have it, that's where Robin was quietly getting made up and groomed for the scene. I would look over to my left, he'd eye me to his right - BUT I COULDN'T TALK TO HIM! So, I did some pantomime and wiggled my scalp as if it was a toupee! Boy, he lost it and said "Oh, buddy, I can see the Velcro from here!" And was off and running! When they came around to ask who had spoken to him, he gestured 'mum's the word' and didn't sell me out.

All of the positive feedback on this episode is refreshing. Well deserved! Real Star Trek episode here. The Time Bug was a macguffin. How could such a small device generate enough power (sustained) to create multiple time distortions? Also agree with the plausibility of bare knuckles knocking out helmeted bad guys. No issue with Earthbound ship building. Also agree with the drowning out of all of the techno-babble.

I agree about drydock v San Francisco! Ever since the Kelvin timeline showed us NCC-1701 being built on land while Kirk watched, it's never made physical sense. However, since I actually enjoyed this episode, I'm willing to believe it's just the upper bridge section module being worked on but at Starfleet?! Not even a shipyard! Hmmm. Of well, it may also be a wallpaper the tech guy was running for ambiance.

If you think back in the eoisode where the young captain Kirk, (Hemsworth) deciding to join star fleet drives his motorcycle to the shipyards then gives his keys to one of the workers. That constitution class starship was being constructed on planet, I thought Utah for some reason. So there's been a couple star trek movies depicting ships being built on the Planet. The refitting and repair, normally happens in space dock.

This has been one of my favourite Discovery episodes, but I did have one nitpick that bothers me. Stamets is aware of the time jumps because of his tardigrade DNA, but the last time jump they make is back to a time before Stamets has any tardigrade DNA. That should mean he wouldn't be aware of what's going on in the final jump.

A minor plot hole, but surely 'Capt. Burnham' would have remembered fighting 'young Burnham' in her youth? It's exactly the sort of thing that should be recorded in either ship's or her personal log? Also, it would mean Burnham should remember Rayner when she first met him a few episodes ago, pulling a phaser on someone should ensure the memory remains. Finally, I thought transporters filtered out nasty things, so how come the 'time bug' escaped detection?

One excellent episode, finally something i really enjoyed re: STD. If you listen very carefully when they are spewing tons of technical babble they do get into the whole concept of how they fly faster then the speed of light and sit inside the 'warp bubble' so time problems do not occur. Think essentially the two twin brothers problem where one stays on earth and the other flies away on a rocket at the speed of light (forget the science impossible stuff we are theorizing here) they explain rather quickly but do explain the warp bubble and how time is handled and breaking the bubble pushes the times etc.. really essentially they start explaining 'best they can' E=mc2 and the output for how time is controlled with faster then light travel -- i thought ok that is cool never really discussed in star-trek before to this level -- about the warp bubble etc.. this whole episode was very enjoyable -- make more like this and STD would be a good show -- they can act - I thought they all did great acting seeing the two Burnans was really nice -- and she acted really well -- i have to admit this i enjoy myself watching this STD episode which is rare since season 1.

There’s 2 episodes to include this one where they take a loss…. Then just sit there. I’m going to go do the math on this emoting and see how much time they would have saved on this time sensitive mission. It was fine. I maintain: I almost shocked myself binging DS9, a show that I can remember “my”/their premier and never missed one 32 years ago, while my main task was wiring a fixture in my man cave. I was distracted by something so good on TV that my mind skipped over “now cut the power it’s supposed to be dark”, caught myself, dumb scary thing. That will never happen with STD, I was hanging the curtains on episode 5x2 and I had to rewind when I was done. I mean that could be a good thing but…

@@Sci-Finatics sorry for the late reply. Can't keep the channel owner hanging. And this is just my observation - He is single-minded (stubborn), has has own way of seeing things, always knows the right way to handle the situation/knows better than everyone based on his own experience and not willing to listen to others. In short is character is a lot like early Burnham (and the other famous Captain that starts with a K), but it doesn't irritate us that much because... My concern: is discovery not a secret project? We have a lot of plane spotters and i suppose ob space ships it would be much more audience if on earth. So the people will be wondering what is the purpose in space and what is the flight plan… so it should be build somewhere in the desert in area51 blocked by views. Especially because its unique design

Starships come in all shapes and sizes. You wouldn’t hide a ship like Discovery. You would want it to blend in with all the other ships under construction. Hiding it would draw attention to it.

They Could of Done so Much More for this Episode, They Could of Had Burnham Rayner and Staments go Through Time not Only in Discovery's Timeline but Throughout Star Trek History. For Example if I Was Writing this Episode Burnham Rayner and Staments would of Time Jumped to DS9 During the Events of Star Trek DS9 Season 4 Episode 1 Way of the Warrior when the Klingons were Invading DS9, The Next Time jump could of been During the Events of Balance of Terror and Burnham Rayner and Staments would of Found Themselves on Kirk's Ship During the Romulan Battle and we could Hear Shatner's Kirk on the Coms System.

@@alejandronopasanada5302 Not an earned position? She was the first officer of the Shenzhou. Until the “mutiny”, she had a spotless Starfleet record and was likely going to be promoted to captain of her own starship, upon Captain Georgiou’s recommendation. Had Philippa survived, she would have told her bridge crew to forget what they saw Burnham do, which she would have excused as an emotional breakdown. Burnham deserves to be captain far more than Worf does. He has a knack for wrecking starships that he’s put in command of. “It was not my fault!!” Suuuure, it wasn’t.🙄

Stop it! You deserve better. And don’t you dare sully the name of Worf. He’s a one trick pony but, he’s also a 1 dong pony.

Everyone have become so lazy in the 32nd-century, its funny that there's no obesity. The Krenim Chronophage (time-eater) is an unusual device, it's not eating time, so it's possible the name sounded cool so they used it. The helmet punching was nuts, but the real let down of this episode is Discovery itself, this could've been a great way to link to Calypso (not just the music) and actually arrive aboard that Discovery.

This was a wasted episode. It felt like a filler episode. Like they didn't have a story to tell and were out of time and just came up with some fluff for a filler episode. A shame to waste a full episode this way in what is their last season. It's not like they produce very many episodes per season either. Basically, the episode was dedicated to forced bonding between Rayner and Michael.

This episode didn't disappoint. Berman once again made it clear that everything on her starship was to be done her way. The only nice thing about this episode was the new commader Rayner. Shutting up the crew before they went on and on. Even gay engineer was blabbering about something, using big words that would probably confuse real engineers and people at NASA. At the end was pretty much the same. Crew members, taking time away from their duties of who knows what they do and sit on the bridge having committee meetings. Because i guess that's what these woke gen z writers think naval and military crew should do, instead of maning their stations and being alert. I guess we should be thankful we didn't get another episode of Tilly telling her superior officer what she thinks because thats what they do for real on a naval ship . But because its Berman star ship, the crew get away with little things that would actually get them tossed in the brig and a court martial. Then again, Berman should have been in prison since the first season since she started the war between the Federation and Klingons.
@thomashong2938
@thomashong2938 7 ай бұрын
It’s Burnham not Berman. She didn’t start the Klingon War. She won it. It’s a Starfleet crew, not a naval or military crew. The Discovery bridge crew is always alert and has every station fully manned unlike, say, Pike’s Enterprise.

Also, you're talking to a ship filled with Nerds. And they probably has the highest IQ than you do or do you haven't even watched Star Trek so you don't even know how the ships actually run or the fact that you forget about the science side of it the fact that the show is all science. Michael is a xeno anthropologist she also was the science officer before she got promoted to Captain. So every one of them are very smart individuals

It was fine,, but I’ve never rewatched any Disco ever and it’s been so long I don’t remember who any of these old characters (other than black and blue face) or references to moments to old seasons they were making. And yes no more 10,000 steps a day with transporter communicators thingos. Also such a generic bridge crew I couldn’t work out if the ones at the back and side were the same as the ones we have know or if people came back. Worst bridge crew ever!
