Detmer and Owosekun can’t be at their stations around the clock. They need to eat, sleep, shower and take bathroom breaks. It’s good to see who are sitting in their chairs on other duty shifts. SNW should do the same thing. Enterprise surely must have other people on other shifts doing what the senior officers are doing when they’re not there.

I was under impressed with last weeks episode, considering the shorter season, filler episodes that go nowhere (for me), seemed liked a waste of effort. It is beginning to feel like I am watching Picards first five episodes. Oh look a nebulae of some kind, we are really predicting the season so far. I cannot believe we are 5 episodes in already. It is like they just want to get rid of Discovery so fast. Strange new worlds isnt going to show till 2025, so looks like we will be dry for a while in terms of Trek.

I have seen mentioned that if you look back at TOS even the regular bridge crew were never really that well developed, the show revolves around Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. There were often extras taking place of the background characters. So it’s no surprise they also do it in Discovery after all the show was designed totally around Burnham.

The bridge crew here are mostly a revolving crew as extras, unless you are a main characters. I always like the Mirror universe episodes so this should be good. I would love to see a Mirror universe Spock and Pike if that is at all possible, would be a good cross-over, especially since the current Spock and Pike actors originated on Discovery before SNW. Hopefully the writers and producers saw the opportunity to do such an episode. Fans would love it. How about it?

@@Sci-Finatics Rhys was on Pike’s Enterprise in season 2 when the Discovery crew was evacuated in the preparation for the ultimately unsuccessful attempt to destroy their ship and the Sphere Data on it to keep it away from Control.

I doubt they've crossed over to the Mirror Universe unless Kovich lied to Georgiou about crossing over being no longer possible in the 32nd Century, but maybe the ship itself crossed over some time ago and had been adrift in the Prime Universe for awhile now. I also wonder if and how Rhys' love of the Constitution-I class will tie into this. episode

They could always travel to the mirror universe during this time, and it wouldn't be a shocker to run into Georgio/Michelle Yeoh, finding out that's where the Guardian of Forever sent her. To whatever time they are in, but in her universe. It would be nice to see how her life ended up before they end the series.

The Guardian of Forever said that he wouldn’t send her back to the Terran Empire. The Section 31 movie doesn’t look like it’s set in the mirror universe. Watch that when it comes out to find out how Georgiou’s life ended up.

Was also wondering if could be the USS Defiant (NCC 1764) since it did go to the mirror universe? However, I remember it was already brought up again in an earlier season episode of Discovery.

Totally agree about the bridge crew - we have a well known con and ops officer so why arent they there? The only thing I can think of is that Discovery originally set out to be different. They deliberately weren't making the core bridge crew the main characters of the series instead concentrating on Burnham and her satellite characters.... As the years go by and Burnham finds herself the captain, it just becomes more conspicuous that we dont get much time to get to know the ever rotating bridge crew but I suppose they were never supposed to be the focus of Discovery. If you look at promotional material its just burnham, book, stamets, adira, culber, tilly, saru. They have just chosen to focus discovery slightly differently as strange as it seems.

Originally Michael was supposed to be like 'lower decks', which is why they only focused her and no one else. As fans were outraged and had expectations over the years, they have had to course correct and make her eventual captain. Which of course demands more expectations from the audience. Hence, why it's now cancelled. They simply can't have their cake and eat it too!

@@DavidBrendan7799 Burnham was always intended to be the eventual captain of Discovery, from the very beginning. She was the first officer of the Shenzhou and was on her way to get promoted to captain of her own ship when the Klingon Wars happened. Given all that she’s done for the Federation, an argument can be made that Burnham should have been promoted to some kind of admiral rank instead of just captain.

As Paramount finalise bringing ALL New productions of Star Treks in-house... into their IPTV VOD Platform... they have to Axe all existing in current production - that have Broadcast Rights on other platforms, Network Channels, etc (globally). So to prep and PRIME the viewers to 'vaguely familiar' faces in these new 'spin offs' = ONLY available on Paramount Plus... they have to Stack the Deck with these faces and names of ships. Tilley has been primed for Star Fleet Academy... No one has mentioned Star Fleet Command... where each of these Deck of faces/names will be on different ships as SFC have say 30 to 40 episodes per year... with a mix of voyager, discovery, other ships, shuttles, in SFC only (internal politics of the day to day or events), etc. By Not having a telly show Named and focused ONLY on Discovery... it can get away with having 10 to 12 episodes of 30 to 40 STC episodes with the Ship... with 'different' crew so it is different enough to not be breaking existing Broadcast Contracts. Dancing, Talking, Ignoring the Elephant in the Room... the Paymaster General - Paramount and Paramount Plus agenda... can not simply be Ignored. LOL

Extras on the bridge, or the full time crew who knows or cares. At the end of Encounter at Farpoint-Emisery-Caretaker-Broken Bow I could name the crew ST:D (Its NOT ST: Disco that's not how we do it it's ST: TOS / ST:TNG /ST: VOY / Enterprise and ST:D) Yet here we are the shows final hours and I can barely name the crew. Think back to season 2 Anson Mount even did a roll call because they knew back then that this show is just front its not Star Trek its the Micheal Burnham show.

It’s always been Star Trek. And it’s DSC not ST:D. What’s so hard with remembering Burnham, Saru, Rayner, Tilly, Bryce, Christopher, Airiam, Nilsson, Owosekun, Detmer, Reno, Stamets, Adira, Booker, Nhan, Linus, Osnullus, Culber and Pollard? The newbies Asha, Gallo and Naya, maybe. But not the regular crew.

Strangers on the bridge is a symptom of a chronic Disco problem since the first season, IMO. Supposedly major characters come and go for no apparent reason or explanation. Makes character development really difficult

The season is the worst of the whole series (as expected). Extremely boring. Just chasing for the non-senses. The episode 1 and 2 were barely ok while I could still see some star ships in action. However, after that. All episodes are junks. Too many emotional expression. And they just keep expressing the personal emotion without telling any actual sci-fi story. If the coming episodes are the same style. This star trek discovery series will come to a poorest ending ever seen in the history of star trek.
