Plot:
What would it be like if president Richard Nixon was a big Star Trek fan? Nixon was elected president in both 1968 and 1972, but he had to resign after a scandal broke about members of his staff bugging meetings in the Watergate hotel in Washington, D.C., and recordings of the president's activities lacked 18 minutes that were never recovered.
President Nixon just loved to secretly record everything that occurred in the oval office. Phone calls, personal and political conversations, meetings. Everything got recorded on audiotape. But what happened on a very special night in 1969 when President Nixon forgot the tape recorder was recording? His secret service detail, Agent Smith, has the dubious job of keeping the president's imagination on the ground: "And I thought Johnson was a handful!"

All these, New Voyages, Phase 2 and Continues, Paramount and/or CBS should have purchased these and produced them for TV - Opinion here is that Paramount/CBS really missed a goldmine here. They could have made ALOT of money! The actors, writers, directors, sets and costume people etc did an absolutely fantastic job, These are WELL DONE, and WELL WORTHY of Gene Rodenberry's memory. To all - nicely done!

Ha ha ha. I just noticed a Fostex or Teac multitrack recorder with digital transport controls rather than mechanical controls at the 0:52 mark. Those 8 track multitrack reel to reels didn't exist in 1969 but who other than a music recording nerd would know that? Great fan production, but I had to say. :)

Someone is definitely messing with the timeline. The tape deck shown looks like a Fostex model 80, a machine that wouldn't come out until the mid '80s. The LED meter bridge alone shows this to be an anachronism. That and the reels of Ampex 456 look a bit more recent than the late 60's. That's why the big Hollywood studios spend the big bucks on props.

4:30 Sputnik 1 burned up in the atmosphere on 1958-01-04. And Laika was on board Sputnik 2 (considerably different in appearance from Sputnik 1), which re-entered the atmosphere on 1958-04-14. Nixon is imagining wrong. :-)

"In Thy Image" was rewritten to become the screenplay for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. We actually DID make our own version of "In Thy Image" in our early days and that was originally made and released by our first producer - Jack Marschall. Our version is a fan re-edit of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, where Jack completely reedited the movie as if it were made as an episode for the Phase II TV-Series in the 70s. Many people have told us it finally makes it more enjoyable to watch that film, as all the things the fans hated, have been removed.
