It has been seven long years since Enterprise left the air, and though we’ve had the recent big screen adaptation of Gene Roddenberry’s futuristic vision (and the sequel coming next year), we feel the true home of Star Trek is as a continuing episodic series. The goal of this project is to make that happen. We, the team who brought you Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, are proud to announce Star Trek: Renegades, a professionally produced television pilot to be presented for a possible online series. Renegades, as the name suggests, will be bold, edgy and a little dark. Renegades will feature a combination of familiar Star Trek faces, plus a collection of hot, new rising actors.
The role of Captain Lexxa Singh will be played by Adrienne Wilkinson (Xena: Warrior Princess, Star Wars: The Clone Wars). The Renegades’ antagonist in the film, Borrada, will be played by Bruce A. Young (The Sentinel, NYPD Blue). Also currently in the cast are Walter Koenig (Chekov, Original Series), Tim Russ, Gary Graham (Alien Nation; Soval, Enterprise), Robert Picardo (the holodoctor, Voyager, Voyager), Sean Young (Blade Runner, Dune), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb, Voyager), Corin Nemec (Stargate SG-1, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Courtney Peldon (Entourage, Home Improvement), Chasty Ballesteros (Final Destination 5, The Newsroom), Kevin Fry (Eraser, Sons of Anarchy), Larissa Gomes (Saw VI, Saw 3D), actress/stunt performer Tarah Paige (Make It or Break It, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Vic Mignogna (Dragonball Z, Star Trek Continues), Rico E. Anderson (Star Trek 2009, Dollhouse), Richard Herd (Admiral Paris, Voyager), Herbert Jefferson Jr (Battlestar Galactica) and many more!
Renegades will be a departure from previous Treks - delving into the dark side of the human psyche, pushing our heroes to their limits, forcing them to carry out actions that they never would have as Starfleet officers. The rules have changed, and they realize they might be the last hope to save the Federation. Star Trek: Renegades will be action oriented, filled with suspense and espionage; all while exploring new worlds, encountering both familiar and new alien species, and boldly going where no Trek has gone before.

When, in the history of tv shows and movies have you seen this kind of dedication? No where! These great people are doing this for the sheer purpose of keeping this great franchise alive. I'm sure the networks will be watching the outcome of this. This movie and Axanar are going to be big hits with the fans. René vH Weeelll, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I"ll withhold judgement until I actually see the film. If the trailers released so far are faithful, this production seems to be deviating toward "too dark" where Abrams' movies moved too much into "too action-packed" to be recognizable as the Star Trek I grew up loving - the exploration, discovery and science-based TNG, which has since remained unmatched.

Attila Asztalos There's a lot of "shaky cam" so far in this production. It's just not a consistent style here. Maybe they had different DOP's on different shoots.

This is something to be proud, and hopefully something I will get to watch in full over and over again on television (or an attendant streaming service) or, if it must be so, on the internet. Continuity with multiple series' themes is so, so compelling. Bajoran and Cardassian on the same crew. Liberated Borg exploring his humanity and, presumably, the tech that assimilated him. A venerable original with a point yet to prove. The Prime Directive ever in question because of powerful moral dilemmas. Go boldly, Star Trek: Renegades. Go boldly.

Tomiwa Aina I didn't mind the JJ Abram movies but 'real' Star Trek is a million times better. Just uncase you're not trying to troll, I recommend starting with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and watching all the old movies right up until First Contact. Or any of the series. DS9 was my favourite but to each their own.

If I remember Star Trek correctly, Icheb was a Borg on Voyager. He was visiting with the chief engineer, and her husband Tom challenged him to a race car race on the holodeck, and he decided he should spend as little time talking to B’Lana as a result.

Since they own the IP, they could totally shut down all these fan films, BUT, they have chosen not to, since it's covered under fair use, doesn't put CBS' ownership of Star Trek at risk under the law....

I have no words to express my gratitude for this excellent job. Some fans may agree with this trailer, and others don´t, but it is the Star Trek spirit what finally matters. Graphics and special effects are wonderful, and now we can enjoy the essence of that Voyager or Enterprise legacy in outstanding crisp clear 1080p widescreen format, which is phenomenal. Imagine what would be achieved if CBS or Paramount decide to get involved producing or supporting this productions. Like button, Mr. Russ!☺

The entire episode is somewhere on YT, go look for it. Brilliant episode, I saw an interview with Tim Russ where he said it was made and presented to CBS, I believe, as a pilot for a TV series. Networks rejected it. They made the Requiem mini-episode, and that apparently was curtains for this project. (I suppose the theme of the once-great Federation - defenders of universal galactic justice and freedom - having gone rotten to the core and now being controlled by rogue elements within its own intelligence community - hit a bit TOO close to home for a lotta American execs...if you get the drift).

Yes, yes, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ADRIENNE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This looks AMAZING, Renegades folk!!! WELL DONE! DYING to see this both as an epic Adrienne Wilkinson fan, and a long time Trekker! What I don't get is all the Trekker hate for it being dark. Section 31 was one of the coolest ideas that ever happened in franchise! I've been saying for years that a new series should try something new like Section 31 (or from the view of an alien race. "Star Trek: Klingons" - come on, you know you want it). And then you cast bad ass Adrienne Wilkinson as the captain of the Renegades under Section 31? OMG - BLISS! I get that the original vision of the series was all sunshine and rainbows, but even then, not really: it was about the human condition. The best eps of Star Trek are always the ones that explore real issues. Part of what made DS9 and VOY so great was these series pushed all sorts of limits on the edge of darkness, but it was about people who thought they were doing the right thing; that's what made it so interesting and powerful. We also live in a very different time from when the original series was made. And there's a massive difference in taking the series somewhere darker (which is the coolest idea EVER) and making it action crap garbage with no point or message like the reboot film trash. "Star Trek" has always been about people, and been about them struggling to be better. The Renegades made be the best example of true "Trek" there can be as this group tries to find redemption, to be better than they are. Cast and crew: Bravo to you all.

Tim Russ, you had no idea how much I was wanting to like this. I take my hat off to you and your team and I appreciate the trailer has been edited to look more action-oriented to excite people... but Trek should show us things we can't imagine by ourselves, everything in this trailer we have seen before. I don't need a "USS Archer", I wanted new planets and life-forms, new technologies and magnificent adventure. I wanted a breath of fresh-air in the face of the JJ-disaster, not a shoddy imitation.

This looks promising, I would watch it. As an old time star trek fan(I will sit and watch the old original series when I find it on some classic TV show station) I have at times felt that the 'powers that be' with the star trek franchise have been less than considerate to and deserving of a fan base which is so dedicated and willing to show their devotion by spending huge amounts of cash if given first rate quality movies and shows. I am sure many fans would gladly support multiple projects as long as they were well written and acted. Not everything has to be a blockbuster summer movie that costs 200+ million dollars, where the star trek characters (once again!) save the entire universe, and the credits run for a half hour to list everyone who worked on the computer and special effects. Give us good stories, with drama, well acted and fans will respond.

Low budget or not I'm very excited to watch this now as it continues the original story line after voyagers return. Gaming Greats Everyone's opinion counts. Personally I quite liked it. It had that 90s feel to it. Come to think of it, Next Generation had a tough time getting past the first series. I couldn't agree more about the Star Wars thing though. And most movies for that matter.

Gaming Greats Again, I couldn't agree more. Seeing as you're a gamer. What about the 2600 or old computers. To see what the younger generation has got these machines to do now is incredible. I think nowadays it's all about cool ideas and how people execute them. For me, much of mainstream entertainment gets boring compared to what the 'public' comes up with.

Gaming Greats I was born in 78. But you have accomplished a lot more than I dreamed of doing in that area. Fortunately the games industry is similar to the movies now. Or at least it's getting there IMO. Like the movies, if someone ignites a great idea. It might not matter too much on the resources. Look at Minecraft or those horrible games like Candy Crush Saga. It's all about the attention game IMO. It's now a question of how you get it. Sadly it can be hard to get awesome ideas noticed over a vast sea of over rated garbage.

Gaming Greats Battleblock theatre, now that game is down right genius. And bloody good fun too. Minecraft really touched on something though. While it looks so basic. It tapped into something most companies wouldn't dare offer. Allowing the player to create their own playing environments. While it's a roaring success. I felt something was missing. Come to think of it, look how things went back to basics again and again. First we had 2D blocky visuals. Then they got more detailed. The 3D games looked basic next to 2D games say in the early 90s. But by the end of the 90s. 3D games were more detailed than classic 2D games. Now Minecraft and other games take it back again. Blocky, basic but now the environments have properties.

WEIRD. I'm a Trek fan of over 40 years and just discovered this now. Bizarre that: 1. it looks pretty good but any standards - let alone 5 years ago - but commenters are complaining about the effects and low budget? 2. it is far superior and more exciting than Discovery or the Abrams films. 3. it looks stylistically and thematically a LOT like Picard.....enough to make me wonder if they ripped this off

I admire the work that went into this, and I am grateful to all the Star Trek actors that contributed to this and care about the franchise and the fans. But I don't really like this. I'm sorry, but I just don't. It really does not feel like Star Trek at all. If Star Trek is to come back as a series then it should be about "going boldly" and "strange new worlds", exploring space and finding "something magnificent, something noble" as Archer put it. Not about renegades, conspiracies, covert ops and all that. I admire and appriciate the effort, but I feel it's misguided.

Brejan I couldn't agree more. There is nothing 'Magnificent' or 'noble' about this trailer. I appreciate it's probably edited to look more action-oriented but nothing inspired me, got me thinking 'woah, I can't wait to see that, or understand that more'. What confuses me constantly is how Trek's primary appeal "to explore new planets..." just keeps getting ignored and ignored. Perhaps it's cheaper and easier for these fan productions to film moody scenes in half darkness than it is to imagine new fantastical worlds, create amazing life-forms and exciting thought-provoking stories.

Such a missed opportunity. I read that they want to pitch this to CBS as a pilot. I applaud a return to the prime universe but this isn't game-changing stuff, like Joe Green said contrived SyFy channel fodder. Where's the sense of fun? Where's the sense of adventure? It has to be game-changing, awe-inspiring stuff, that gets people excited. Get talented writers and conceptual artists and say something NEW. Waste of a production.

You probably weren't even born when it started in 1966 so obviously your standards are of today. Effects aren't so bad I have a problem with the casting and lighting, I don't mind some actors from past series but these new actors kinda spoil it.. and with lighting it seems there's a bright desk lamp pointing at them at every scene, it's very studio like and unnatural. Many things wrong with this one...

Official? I guess it is Officially by whatever group that made it? Because this is clearly not "Official" Star Trek in the line of TNG, Voyager etc.. the CGI is not up to that standard. The acting is hit or miss. The dialogue would have been better if they had a real screenwriter help instead of adopting what sounds like a fan-fic? I am sorry to be negative, but with actual Star Trek cast members involved, and the "Official" in the description, I went and got my hopes up that this was really a pilot movie for a new show.. and it is so not something a network would back. I am sure as a Fan-Fic movie it is probably awesome - just not what I was expecting going in.

This is exactly what the Chief Medical Officer ordered. In lieu of the absence of any official Trek episodic series, Renegades is an absolute joy, light years above & beyond all other fan-made ventures yet, and a real labor of love. It's worth every penny I donated. Tim Russ' direction is in sync with the look and feel of the Trek shows from 1987-2005, and there's plenty of moments where it feels like an authentic Trek episode, particularly action scenes, space battles, and starship bridge scenes. Russ, Walter Koenig, and Robert Picardo are a joy to see reprising their characters, and Manu Intiraymi as Icheb is a real scene-stealer as the badass Borg you always wished Seven of Nine could be. Adrienne Wilkinson as Khan's descendant (Lexxa Singh,) Gary Graham as Ragnar, and Corin Nemec as Captain Alvarez are stellar. Renegades continues "the Big Picture" grand story of the 24th Century era of Trek, a worthy followup to Voyager. It's progressive, updated, but also its own unique tale. Thanks for bringing back the nostalgia, Tim Russ & co., it's been far too long. Best of luck with the web series!
