The theatrical cut had a HELL of a lot of pacing issues, but I still go back to this movie as background noise. Its my comfort movie.

As a young kid in the late 70’s and just seeing close in counters and Star Wars...I was amazed and could not wait for the next adventure of the future to come in all movies for us... while I loved them all and still do, I am saddened to see what has come to our way of living now in 2020

I think THIS movie is just FABULOUS! . .. and always have! And I suspect that those who've called it "slow" or "booring" were probably just the kind of m@r@ns who crave ohhhhh guns, car chases, and explosions every minute throughout the entire duration of a movie. In fact, such people are the reasons we have all these big, dumb, action "blockbusters" with goons like Vin Diesel and The Rock and Schwarzenegar and so on.

jeeze no wonder fans were hyped for this movie. put yourself back in 1979 those FX look REAL (or as real as Star Wars or Close Encounters) they still look good now!. seeing Shatner, Nimoy and the crew back looking pretty much the same as in the series just abit different/older, the massive new Enterprise looking as real as a NASA shuttle, the new uniforms. the realistic sets with futuristic computer graphics. its like Star Trek but its REAL. and the intriguing premise of earth under threat from a vast intelligence (earth was never directly under threat in the series) with those trippy strange FX @1:51 ..and to top it all directed by Robert Wise (like a Spielberg before Spielberg).. no wonder fans were excited..

It must be hard to be so correct in a world full of so much wrong. Much as Empire is a technically decent second place to Return of the Jedi's heartfelt content rich and conclusive superiority, Khan is a nice example of a small story told with Big Star Trek Toys, but Motion Picture is an epic, appropriate, technically brilliant spectacle with a satisfying twist that sets up: The best soundtrack, the concept of the Borg, baldness being beautiful for women as well as Sean Connery and the place setting for Patrick Stewart supernova chrome dome. = MP >> Khan >> everything, but I like the first Chris Pine reboot, not so much the Khan whiff, and definitely not Space Motocross.

I understand yr disappointment and I only saw this on VHS at first.(you'd be surprised that I had a similar reaction to ET in a cinema..). but I still wanted to see it on a big screen, cause the optical effect are gorgeous and this was a movie spectacle indeed.. One really beutiful shot is at 1:48. You can do it better with a computer, but this bit looks REAL. It understands the generation that saw Nasa showing footage of space walks (really hard to fool those). AS for for the story, it's not a complete failure.. It had a good threath and a mystery.. AND, after all, it gave us a whole franchise of films ..

I saw this is 4K in cinema in 2022. And I am not a big fan of Star Trek but it wa something I felt I needed to do. My experience: Yes, I stayed for the whole movie and yes it was enjoyable as it really felt I went back in time to 1979, the year this film was released and I must have been the youngest adult there as I am 25, which goes to show I guess not many young people would appreciate old shows and films, like I do.
