definitely. Some good writing and art here, a good production. But like most, really should just leave the original characters alone. They're at their best when they're exploring new characters and scenarios. I just couldn't get through the McCoy-Kirk scenes. Thats not McCoy, not Kirk. the dialogue, pacing, sound, movement. distractingly not them. That first crew was on the survey ship was *great*. lets explore their adventures.

I'm at 0:22, and Spock & Uhura seem to have the most authentic voices. It's Spock's pacing that really sells his voice. I think that the characters at the beginning seem to be the most real, in the sense that we are unfamiliar with them, so we aren't distracted by their voices. The story seems very engaging. Your comments are logical and entirely consistent with my own observations. The attempt at derision by the naysayer should be ignored. As the vulcan proverb goes, the tonnacanda bird that finds no seeds will soon look elsewhere. By my estimation, the writing in the screenplay of this video rivals and indeed in some respects surpasses the writing of many episodes of the state trek franchise episodes. Giving credit where credit is due seems entirely appropriate in this instance.

Excellent work! You've captured the feel of the original animated series while surpassing many of its limitations. Obviously, this is a labor of love. While some people may diss the voice acting, I've heard far worse in the original audio-only stories released on vinyl back in the '70s. For me, I don't require voice clones. Your voice actors have captured the spirit of their characters superbly and that's what counts for this old fan. Another plus is the use of the original sound effects and re-purposing of many of the musical themes from the original live series. The mix of cell animation and CGI is quite good as well. A nice mix, with a good balance between the two styles. That isn't easy, but you made it work! Scripting is another plus, though more adult than classic Trek was allowed, you made that work as well. Overall, I'd give this very high marks indeed.

We took care not to modernize the TOS universe with ear-jarring jargon and tech talk. However, we did want to separate our story and production from the fine 1973-74 Filmation show by offering more mature dialog. Star Trek- The Paradise Makers is definitely not a Saturday mornng offering.

Wow, this is good! I haven't seen anything so much like original Trek since Star Trek Continues. It's so good that it seems a shame to not benefit from having the original actors do the voices (those that are still alive), or at least some professional voice actors to replicate the original voices, and also from some professional editing to tighten it up a bit. It just seems to linger a little too long in each scene, with a bit too much time in between lines, as well as some extraneous lines that don't really add much to the story. But that's just nitpicking. Most fan productions aren't anywhere near this good or faithful to the show. This is even better than Filmation's TAS in several ways.

Spock, Scotty, Uhura and Chapel sound really great; Sulu sounds good, and I really wish they had switched the voice actors for Dr Piper and Dr McCoy. McCoy sounds about 75 years old. I appreciate what you're saying, but the pace does feel too slow, even for TOS of that time period. With human actors you could linger a bit longer because human facial emotions can transmit more information than these animated ones. As well, the intros to every TOS EP focused on a moment of calm or routine, that is suddenly filled with conflict as soon as the situation could be established. This effort failed to do that. As well as it is done, the pacing is just too flat throughout, IMO. Good work otherwise, but the pacing hurts the draw.

Don't worry, I have a copy of it :D This is well worth preserving and I think I'll point out some of the grandiosity of it. First, it's the base, it's very 60's future design, and sitting on an asteroid, something you have never seen before but was a common concept back in the 1950's and 60's in science fiction. The second is the power of a starship, being able to move entire planets. In the original series, the Enterprise could destroy a planet with a single photon torpedo and the sanity of the captain was sometimes mentioned as being a severe requirement of command because of the unfathomable destructive power of a starship. The newer series, everything was a lot weaker, men weren't such gods either, they were just men (and women, to be politically correct). Basically in the original series, humanity's best was sent out, they were the smartest, sanest, most ethical people of the entire human species. You certainly don't see that in the modern series, and I'd include anything beyond the original series in that. The first series was certainly extremely idealistic.

@@welcometocattown2036 Pretty sure comics are fair game, too ;) Maybe videogames, too. A game with 30 minutes total of gameplay would feel like a hell of a rip-off even if it was free!

Newbe here, I love old radio plays🤗 Especially when they are star trek 😘 The next generation of actors have a venue for their art not available before 🙂 artists, actors, etc, in their debute, were only available at the "Animation Celebration" that I never missed 😁🙂🤗

Good work staying true to the spirit of the original and capturing it in your video! Much better than anything Hollywood has put out in the ST genre in a long, long time.

I realize this took 4 years to make so I'm willing to wait until Aug 2021 for the next installment. Subscribed! I really enjoyed this.

Basically overall, well done. I love peoples love for Star Trek. This has been an intellectual presentation. The animation is more than decent as well. Again.. Well done.

I like this .... CBS ..... Pay attention to this .... Using CGI starships and planets with smoother human animation and believable voice acting and you have IT .... Or as Scotty would say ," That's the ticket laddy " .... The AquaShuttle is an idea that sounds plausible .... And you can do ANYTHING in animation .... As a kid who watched the original animations this is LOVELY

Quite unique and entertaining. Felt like an episode of the earliest period of Kirk's command. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks!

I think this is much more enjoyable and more “start trek” than Discovery.

That’s your opinion I like discovery, i like this too, there’s a difference between you and I, I am more open minded to changes, as Kirk said to Scotty about the USS EXCELSIOR, young minds fresh ideas be tolerant.

I enjoyed it too. I couldn't say much about discovery because I'm not sure I ever watched it. TNG took a lot of getting used to for me. I wish they just put them on a differently named ship. But I got over it. Anyways, people are complaining about Kirk's voice. I found it a bit unnerving at first then I realized it is a fan flick and people were just having fun and enjoying themselves. They shared some of that joy with me so I'm happy.

@@brianbrenner4245 Nice and true words, my friend. But in discovery are so much mistakes in the canon for most star trek fans it is just not Star Trek. They dont go where boldly no one has gone before, the dont discover or seek out new lives and civilizations. In the first two seasons u see war, in the third season u see a pretty dark future. There are so much interviews with Gene Roddenberry and Rick Berman and all what they said, Alex did the total opposite on the discovery show. Thats a fact not an opinion. If youre really open minded think about the arguments of the other side and dont put yourself over other persons because of your "open mind".

this plays like a novel. more detail than the average episode and slower to develop. I like it.

Overall a good job. I am a big fan of the Animated Series, so when this video was recommended by YT I made time to watch it. I like the story, while it does seem long, I did not find it slow paced. I did think there were some scenes like much of the starbase stuff that were more reminiscent of Trek movies than of Trek TV (animated or live). I did notice the inconsistent rank stripes, not just in the turbo lift but in a few early scenes. However as the story progressed there was little time to nitpick on such technicalities. For me the only real negative is the blending of the cell animation style like TAS was known for and the CGI that appears far too modern. Sadly this had the effect of reminding my of the disastrous animated shuttle craft sequence from ST5. Still I will definitely be watching Part 2.
