I was fortunate to serve on the 3rd Constellation - CV64, just search CV64 - 1st was the 1st US Navy ship 1797 - 2nd 1854 in Baltimore, MD as a museum and 3rd Carrier (1961-2003) - my ship. Everyone recently has seen CV64 Constellation in the media, the 1st to strike Vietnam, 1st invasion in Iraq 2, 1st Aces of the Vietnam War were on Constellation, many more FIRSTS. BTW, my friend who had me join the USN, we went to Boot Camp together and later he served on CVN65 Enterprise.

Some people don’t like the updated effects, but I think in this case, it really works because it shows the absolute carnage that was done to the constellation in much better detail than the original

I like how Kirk had to think about it before deciding to board the Constellation. Boarding another commander’s ship without permission is a big deal even in this situation.

I doubt that is what he is thinking. He is trying to decide whether it is safe! It would be rather embarrassing to beam over there and then have the enemy so up and cut him off from his own ship Which is exactly what happened!

The latest rumor is that this doomsday machine was an el aurian super weapon used against the borg. This makes perfect sense to me.

You’re referring to the events depicted in “Vendetta”, an excellent 1991 TNG hardback novel by Peter David.
@chuckaddison51347 ай бұрын
I read that book, many years ago when Jean Luc and his ship encounter another, more powerful version. They discover it had been an ancient civilization's defense aganist the Borg. Don't remember all the details but thought it was well written, a good story. Always thought it would have made a better movie than some of the other TNG ones.

@@ScottGammans Another TNG novel that is really good is called Before Dishonor. It involves the original doomsday machine that they go to and reactivate.

AMT brought out it's model of the Enterprise. One was donated to Norway Productions. That's where the Constellation came from. AMT only provided 1701 as registration number. That's where 1017 comes from.

"The rest of the ship seems able to sustain life." Well, except for the blasted away skin and protruding structural members on the main section. Oddly, the bridge area at 3:08 doesn't look damaged.
@Willpower-742056 ай бұрын
The bridge being damaged and uninhabitable likely means that the controls and life support system were fried when the ship was hit by the Planet Killer's anti-proton weapon. The outer hull of the bridge might not have been directly in the line of fire at the time. My two cents, anyway. 🖖😎👍
