They need to reconsider jj-abrams entirely. He wasn't a Trek fan at all. Had no clue how to write it. And he's not any great guns at directing either in my opinion. Actually truth be told, in my opinion, he's a better director but an awful writer. Over a decade ago I looked through his body of work on IMDb and I didn't see anything that he directed or wrote that I had actually watched and if I had watched I did not enjoy it. I had to search back pretty far to find something where he was like a junior assistant or regular assistant producer that I actually enjoyed of his.

In this episode, it is supposed to take place before Voyager's journey. However the Tricorders and Phasers were the same as those used in Star Trek: TNG at this time. I believe it was later in season 2 that they somehow upgraded to the ones used in Star Trek: First Contact... which are seen here. Aslo, you would think they would have given Seven of Nine a Tricorder from the era, instead of having her sneak around with that tiny future version. I notice things.
