This was my first (and likely last) Celebration. As a Brit finally given the opportunity to meet guests like Matk Hamill, Harrison Ford, George Lucas, John William's, I couldnt pass it up, but sadly most of the guests there I'd met at previous shows anyway. But what I wanted to say was how fake the whole live stage area was. They had a guy who stood at the side of the stage using hand gestures to tell the audience when to clap, cheer or cheer louder. They had practice sessions in the morning and he also threw out freebies (t-shirts?) throughout the day to those who screamed loudest. There were 2 big autocue TV monitors for the hosts that we could all see. And the placement of the chairs and guests was done for the benefit of the cameras, not the audience. So to address the clapping seals comment, yeah it's a combination of very slick direction to show the most obsessive fans, and also those obsessive fans being right at the front waving their lightsaber while all the normies where at the back out of sight of the cameras.

When I was 11, me and some of the other neighborhood boys built a tree fort in the forest. We loved it and took so much time planning it out and building it - it even had a rope swing and a zip line. One day the neighborhood girls found out about it and, while we were gone, took it over and painted it pink! We got in a huge fight about who the fort belonged to and eventually the parents found out. The parents demolished the tree fort and we were all left with nothing. What’s happened with Star Wars feels exactly like this to me.

So I'm from India here. Different culture and geography completely from America. But I was able to connect with OG Star Wars because of the characters. I didn't care that my race was represented or that the lead actor looked like me. I resonated with Luke's yearning for adventure and the whole inner struggle he goes through of either doing the right thing or going over to the Dark side. Despite toeing the line, he chooses to be the embodiment of hope and good, so much so that he's able to redeem Anakin, which hits harder after sitting through the Prequels. When I heard this random dude saying 'There's no good or evil'. Yeah these people don't have any understanding of what Star Wars is. None of modern Star Wars has resonated with me and I haven't seen anything after Rise of Skywalker. I saw the first season of Mandalorian, but even that wasn't motivating enough for me to continue watching. Star Wars is just dead now. My 2 cents on why they seem to like to humanize evil is that they don't understand the basic fundamentals of writing. They want to take storys that made sympathetic villains and were massive successes and not realize that THEY ARE STILL THE VILLIAN. Just because you understand the motivations of a villain doesn't mean they stop being the bad guy. You still root for the good guys and want the villain to lose.

Exactly. Take Mr. Freeze from Batman TAS. Villainy is the only way he can save his wife. He has no other recourse. The audience empathizes - not sympathizes - with that. But he's still the villain because he's endangering the lives of others. Humanized villains are a way to see how a normal person can end up doing the worst things imaginable when all they wanted to do was make things right.

The beauty of the Original Trilogy is it was for everyone, pure Action / Fantasy and the classic " Hero's journey". That's really why I only LOVE 3 movies , I could give a toss about the prequels Star Wars is 1977 to 1983 to me and that's what I like to remember.
