@@thepsychicspoon5984 Now if it were me running the sequels, I would have simply re-cast Han. Ford wanted out, it's been decades, there's no better time to do it. The way they used him was a farce anyway.

@thepsychicspoon5984 They still could've written him better than a dead-beat loser dad that never evolved and killed him off. In an interview, JJ said they needed more weight, so they decided to kill off Han in the first sequel trilogy. That says a lot about how confident he was with the story and how much preplanning they had moving forward.

Finn could have been the most interesting character as he had a real hero’s journey to become a Jedi and why he didn’t go with Rey to find Luke is still a mystery to all of us. He was crushing on Rey and just discovered this amazing power he didn’t know he had BUT he didn’t go ? Why ? Racism ! There was plenty of room on the Millenium Falcon and he could have made TLJ more interesting as a go-between Rey and Luke. He also could’ve stayed on the island while Rey went back to fight Kylo Ren. Setting him up to be useful and important in the final movie. Po was under used too as he was the fighter pilot hero adventurer people wanted Luke to be or Han Solo could’ve been after the end of the war. Not having the 3 original main characters in one movie when they had the chance was a huge opportunity missed. Over the years it will be interesting to see how the fans love grows or diminishes for Disney Star Wars

I'm not going to lie, in TFA I really thought Finn would become a Jedi on the next movie because Kylo Ren sensed something inside him and because Finn was able to fight Kylo Ren for a brief moment. At least Lando Calrissian was responsible for destroying the freaking Death Star in Return of The Jedi.

There is a reason why Disney made all those racist cartoons about the Japanese during WW2 but you would hardly see any anti-German cartoons like Warner Bros were doing with Bugs and Adolf... There is a reason, Walt was American and a fan of those crazy Germans all those American companies poured money into during "The German Miracle". That history that America tried really hard to suppress around the world for 50 years...

I question now every time someone mentions that Chinese poster, after I did my research on the Little Mermaid poster and found out it's a nontroversy. I can't go back in time to check which were the official posters, main posters and other promo material in Mainland China for releases before Little Mermaid. What can be found today is that the very same picture of downsized John Boyega has been used in the USA market and European market for DVDs and 3D, which fits with what is written on the Chinese poster in question (there's that 3D mention on it). But there is also a Chinese version of the poster with regular sized John Boyega. Plus claims from residents in China contradict the accusations from Westerners, reporting the main poster being actually the same picture as the US version. It's just you say VS they say, I can't take into account anyone's claim without proof. So the USA and Europeans have been just as racist as the Chinese. Or nobody is. I did also the same type of search concerning the controversial Black Panther poster. Again, the clues point to a possible nothing burger. The actual poster that spurred the US outcry was Taiwanese (that's what made me realize there's a difference in maketing between Mainland China, Taiwan, and HongKong). I don't know which main poster was used in Mainland China. Again, comments from residents in China contradict the accusations from Westerners. There are existing promo materials in Chinese featuring clearly the faces of the cast, so I concluded they didn't hide their ethnicity. And China was the second biggest box office behind the USA. Also, that picture of Black Panther with the mask was used in promo material in the USA, Europe and other Asian countries.

Took my oldest son to each of the prequels on opening day, let him skip school for a guys day. We were very into Star Wars. Took my son to Force Awakens opening week, neither of us have bothered watching any new SW since. No new movies, no TV, no Mouse+. At least we still have the George Lucas films when we need a fix. And we get some laughs over it from channels like this.

The problem isn't just that Disney doesn't care about Star Wars, it's that they don't even understand it. In an interview, George Lucas talked about how after the original trilogy came out, a lot of movies tried to imitate it by making movies in space because to them, that's what Star Wars was. Disney Star Wars has space ships, droids, light sabers, jedi, and even some of the original actors, but they ended up with nothing more than a hollow shell of what Star Wars is. The most important scene in A New Hope wasn't Luke blowing up the Death Star, or learning to trust in the Force, it was him looking out over the twin sunset on Tattooine, saying nothing, letting the scenery and the orchestra do the work. It was a story about a boy who wanted adventure. It was a story about a hero going on a journey, and you can no more write a Star Wars story without understanding the Hero's Journey than you can wrtie a Lord of the Rings show without understanding good and evil.

I am so sick of being called racist while there NEVER seems to be a single mention of just how ACTUALLY racist DISNEY was/is! I said it then and I'll say it now, Finn was EASILY my favorite character and the one whose arc I looked forward to seeing the most in the movies going forward. Yet WE'RE the racist ones, somehow, when DISNEY chose to literally minimize his character on the poster AND in the story simply because he was black and China HATES black people, but Disney loves their racist money. They did Finn dirty, they did John Boyega dirty, and it disgusts me to time and time again see their racism get a pass because they virtue signal in some other way.

These people seem to forget that "blaxpoitation" films featuring mostly black casts were big back in the 70s along with Hong Kong action films, again with all Asian or mostly Asian casts. This mentality is simply a continuation of the corporate Hollywood mentality of white executives trying to make themselves seem important because of "diversity quotas", except when it comes to their own jobs. Having these other groups of people in movies isn't new or groundbreaking and in the past diverse actors in various roles were not advertised as the most important reason to see the movie. Nobody called out Yaphet Kotto as "the first black man in a space movie about Aliens". Nobody called out the black actor in THX 1138 as the "first black actor in a futuristic dystopian sci fi movie". Yet these roles exist and these things were done long ago. Hollywood simply is preserving the privilege of these white executives to control the industry and make bad decisions while making millions of dollars for themselves by pretending that they care about diversity. You don't need to lecture people about diversity, just hire people of all types and it will come naturally and most importantly give them the power to create without corporate interference.

one of the scariest things I've ever seen is how quickly something can be memory holed and even the people who push back against it have forgotten it entirely. In the build up to Force Awakens there was promotional art, a revealed title crawl and endless amounts of promo footing with voice overs by Arbroo. And in none of it was the words "episode 7" mentioned, none of it was given that until after the title crawl was released and all they had was "the Force Awakens" people then demanded to know wtf and they added the Episode 7 quickly before release. But with all that and the idea of not having a roadmap for the story by JooJoo, the message originally was clear here. His plan was to do a modern version of Flash Gordon, to have the films not really have a proper thruline just like each week you'd get the major cliffhangers with Gordon and have nothing be as deadly after it the week following. And no one looks back and remembers the stuff.

I’m a black nerd and a KZbinr but don’t do many long form videos..Or short form for that matter because I actually stopped making videos once my page blew up because I’m weird.. but I wish I could give my take on one of your lives because it really pisses me off when people chalk these opinions up to racist fans. This comment is kinda unrelated to Star Wars/Ahsoka and more about race-swapping but Hollywood’s need to shove black actors into roles to pander to audiences, putting them into places or settings that make NO LOGICAL sense needs to stop. Like midevil settings as queens and s**t, for instance. Or in shows like Rings of Power. When did we ever ask for this? These days, black people have to be starring in every damn story. If you are going to try to convince me that a mixed population resides in a specific setting, like in Rings of Power or The Witcher, then you need to also explain why most people aren’t mixed race and how these races came to be in this small part of the world. If you make a show in 2023 in the middle of broadway, and I don’t see ANY black people, then yeah, I’m gonna feel like you’re a little bit racist and will call bulls**t. Because black people SHOULD be there and you ERASED them. But that’s not what’s happening now in Hollywood. The difference between garbage like ROP and a show like House of the Dragon is that HOTD changed the Velaryons to black actors FOR THE STORY not for the actors! It literally made sense because according to the show-runners, they weren’t from Westeros anyway and it was a way for the audience to distinguish between the Targaryens and Velaryons because they LOOK THE SAME (for the most part), most having violet eyes and silver hair in the books. There are so many characters who resemble each other so it made sense to cast black actors. It improves the story on screen, works for TV audiences, and makes the translation from book to screen smoother. This is why I read the reason for race-swaps before I watch a movie or show. If they mention diversity again and again, it’s usually a good indication that the movie or show will BLOW. Because good creators want to talk about the interesting story, not about all the people of color they casted. I hate everything about what they did to Amazon Fake LOTR and The Witcher when it comes to inserting black people. I was distracted because as a black woman, I don’t know what the hell is happening or how a mixed population came about in middle earth without actually mixing. Who is mixing with who and why isn’t everyone just mixed like in the Dominican Republic? Shouldn’t it look more like the DR if race isn’t a concern? People should be mixing like crazy then, right? Is there Jim Crow in middle earth or something? Unless Races just keep to themselves … which they don’t. Y’all put black people all in Tolkien’s sh*t! That man probably rolling around in his grave right now. LMAO. Just stop please! SOME may argue that these shows are about magic and fantasy so you can’t judge them the same. “It’s just fiction!!” Okay, fine. Then WHY didn’t they put BLACK PEOPLE and Latinos in Mulan?! That’s a fictional story too and it involves magic or chi. Could it be because that would not have made any F*****G SENSE?! And also because you knew China would have your a** for that! 😂 And if you’re going to scream racism then you need to explain why shows like HOTD do great and are loved by audiences. Explain it. Explain why these same racist nerds love Lando in Star Wars or black people in Star Trek. They ignore shows like that because it doesn’t fit their argument. Why weren’t these same “racist” nerds complaining about Lando or Mace Windu? Why weren’t they complaining about the women taking up the screen like Princess Leia. Where was the outrage back then if this is simply about racist nerds?! Black people are literally in all the s**t that they love. There are only a few cases where race swapping works and in those cases, it was to improve the story. Like Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. It’s not because a black Nick Fury is more badass but a SAM JACKSON Nick Fury is more badass. It improved the character. But in 99% of the cases, they do it to send a message not to make these stories more entertaining. This video inspires me to make long form video reviews because we need more voices from black nerds like me who hate this s**t just as much (if not more).
