This is the version of Darth Bane that we submitted to Lucasfilm and Disney for the Star Wars Fan Film Awards! It's farrr from perfect, but it was fun to make never the less. Unfortunately, Githany and many other sequences didn't make this cut.

Yeah I think I would quite like to see this as I've been wanting to know a bit more about the lure of the story + it's past. With Darth bane being one of if not the strongest, it would show people the actual power that some sith had back in the comics.

Bane's story is garbage. The novels are among the worst Star Wars novels ever written. Unlimited potential with the creator of the Rule of Two and the Sith'ari, but Drew fumbled it big time. Bane's story straight up sucks, and Bane as a character is extremely lackluster.

Bane applied what he learned from Darth Revan's holocron on Lehon, and from there formed the Rule of Two.

Then you have to take into account that the Sith will always desire more power, even from their fellow Sith (often resorting to killing them after gaining their secret knowledge). The Rule of Two was established by Darth Bane so that all the knowledge and power of the Sith, starting from Darth Bane himself, would be concentrated into just *_one_* individual. That individual (the "Master" of the two) would then take on an Apprentice, who would eventually _crave_ all that knowledge and power that their Master wields, and attempt to take it all for him/herself. Having 12 lines of Sith would..._dilute_ their prowess in the Dark Side.

What drove Bane's personality was his life in the mines of Apatros to a life of indebted slavery and corruption and without that being expressed in any movie Bane becomes a shallow and one dimensional character. He saw his honest and hard working father work himself into a grave and swore to never end up the same way. He genuinely saw societies problems being due to weak, selfish leaders and felt that leadership belonged to those who were hard working, skilled and strong of mind and body. That motivation resonates with many people and is why he is such a fan favorite. What made Bane such as great character is that he was controlled, intelligent and pragmatic. Not some psychopath as many Sith become. The fact he took Zannah as his apprentice when she was nothing but a child and raised her to become all she could be proved that he did not selfishly crave power or prestige as other Sith did. Any movie made about him cannot be a chain of fight sequences because when you read the books you will notice that combat sequences made up the smallest part of the narrative.

To be fair , Hurst was not an honest and hardworking man.He was a weak-willed, alcholic jerk and his weakness and lack of ambition drove him into miserable life.Because of that, Bane learned that if someone or Something wants to be strong, he/she/it needs to use his hate, rage and ambition to drive itself further in life.And the ones who doesn't do this is are weak, and their lives does not matter. Only the powerful deserves to live and thrive.That's why Bane formed the rule of two,to make the Sith achieve power through knowledge, cunning and position along with brawn.He is indeed the most complex character in the Star Wars Universe,and my favourite character too

Though in Bane’s case, he knew such a thing is what a true Sith is all about, the greater the ambition, the more powerful he becomes with nothing to hold him back. So he probably knew this was always intended to happen and that it couldn’t be stop. Power was the way of the Sith, with the Master expected to hold all the wisdom it caries and when that wisdom passes on another, then the student is ready to ascended to being the master by killing the previous one. The Rule of Two was the prefect guideline for the Sith to follow in future generations and because of that, the Sith evolved from a chaotic order of infighting and civil war to a lineage where betrayal is expected and yet, none of lost sight of their purpose at finally defeating the Jedi. With Palpatine’s ascent to Emperor, he managed to achieve what many Sith failed to do, destroy the Jedi and rule the galaxy. For a time, Band won, millions of years after his passing.

@@coletrain583 The Rule of Two is actually incredibly flawed. The purpose of the rule was to preserve their culture and values. It was much a sociological ideology as it was a means to obtain power. All it would take is for master and apprentice to be in the same accident to instantly destroy everything. All that knowledge, all that influence and all that culture gone because some herd of Purgil came out of hyperspace and sideswiped your shuttle into one of the Kessel blackholes. If it wasn't for the Will of the Force constantly trying to maintain equilibrium the Rule of Two wouldn't have suceeded as long as it did. The Sith Empire's are certainly subject to a slow burn buf the positive outcome is that such a vast and visible impact upon the galaxy invariably inspires others to reignite that flame once its turned to ashes. How many new Sith zealots were the result of somebody just wandering around the many ruins on Korriban and Moraband or fell to the Darkside just by coming under the influence of a Sith relic like a holocron? Sitting in shadows is all well and good, but the Sith became an obscure legend that only the Jedi and a select few other groups even knew of. Once Sheeve and Anakin were dead the Imperial Remnant didn't know or care what a Sith was so they just attempted to bring back the Empire.

Looks really awesome from a technical standpoint, quite possibly one of the best fan films as far as special effects are concerned BUT I am not sure if you captured the essence of the story correctly. How come the two sith know about Revan's holocron and what Bane plans on doing. The thing is they had no idea why Bane went to Lehon and they also had no idea that he was planning on killing them all. Bane used deception and manipulation to achieve his goals and tricked Lord Kaan into using the thought bomb. Just my 2 cents, overall a truly great job. Also, is this short movie based on the first book or all of them? Just slightly confused given the last duel between Bane and Zannah.

What is evil, then? I think it sounds pretty evil. The Jedi teach compassion and to let go of your personal emotions so you can be a good guardian of peace, spending your whole life so that other people may have a good one. They're not saying, as opposed to what some claim, that emotions are inherently bad and that no one should have them - only people with weapons shouldn't. If they're not perfectly good, what are they?

I thought the acting was okay, and I really like the story of Darth Bane. I realize how much work and effort all the special effects in this film are, however personally I feel a lot of the sets/backgrounds/locations are so hazy and artificially weird looking. I'd much prefer some more "real" locations. :) The planets from space looked great though, and the sabers :)

spoilers discussed below The people who made this trailer straight up didn't read the books, or at least read them years before writing this and forgot all the details. Zannah didn't express remorse by crying to Darovit and Zannah didn't kill Darovit. Remember how she summoned the Jedi to Caleb's camp on Ambria? This is a major detail in the story of the Sith throughout Star Wars because the Jedi believed that the mind-broken-by-Zannah Darovit was the Sith who killed the masters who were following Bane and Zannah and concluded that when they killed Darovit, the Jedi had now rid the galaxy of Sith, which they continued to believe for the next thousand years until Maul appeared in The Phantom Menace. When Maul says "At last we will have revenge. At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi," he is talking about how after 1,000 years, it is now time for the Sith to act on their plans to take down the Jedi order. The two biggest details of these books are Bane's Rule of Two and how Zannah tricked the Jedi order into believing the Sith were extinct. This trailer completely forget the second one and Zannah is infantilized in this video and her character would be completely butchered if a movie was made following this trailer.

I love the camera work and the effects. Looks wonderful, my only CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is the sound. The isolated feeling of the vocals take out from the immersion. Try to add in some more "noise" or ambient sounds, something to give the actors more presence in their digitally structured world. For example in the very beginning when the man is talking, the music is very low, but his voice is very loud and clean, almost too clean. +Grant Wilson I think the story of a young miner who murders his own father in his sleep unknowingly due to his immense force abilities and becomes a great soldier and one of the most powerful Sith's in Star Wars history who wiped out the Sith order as it was so the rule of two could be created, is a fairly interesting and important story deserving of a movie I think lol

@@grantwilson4506 Darth Bane´s is one of the most interesting EU stories, Bane was one of the most humane sith lords out there, he didnt kill like a maniac without reason or justification and was a excellent example of why his Ro2 failed, for all his wisdom and experience Bane couldnt predict that the Sith masters would start attempting to undermine and get more apprentices than 1, because Bane was the one Sith who carried the Ro2 to it´s outmost effectiveness and even him had problems dealing with Zannah in book 3 because of the misunderstandings that can be created by following the Ro2 too faithfully. Also the trilogy sets Set Harth in book 3, one of the most interesting Dark Jedi up to this day alongside the likes of Jarec

The book trilogy is my favorite and I’d love to see them as movies/series however the issue is that movies/series always target the non-readers of the books because usually they are much more in numbers and there is more money to make pleasing the „casuals“ than the true fans. This is an ironic tragedy 😢 That is why I am afraid they won’t make this movie and if they will butcher the story..

the sith never knew about him hunting holocrons, much less that he planned on wiping them all out... in fact, they largely left him alone once he left; no "sending armies" against him. his entire plot hinged on the brotherhood believing he was on their side. I'd love the books to be made into movies, but that's a key point in the story.

It's not necessarily that she never used it, but she had a particular talent for Sorcery. You never can say that, just because it isn't written, that she didn't use one of the trademark techniques of the Sith. She just didn't use Force Lightning against Darth Bane.

These books were great. This vid is obviously low budget fandom but I'm glad they're getting the word out. I don't see any reason Disney couldn't do a darker trilogy. It would be awesome. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Maybe someone can get the rights for just this trilogy somehow.

Well many did hunt down bane in a way. The republic soldiers, Sirak and his lackey's, Kasim and then Githany. Then the old sith fetishist and Sith assassin's in the sequel: also the Jedi in the sequel. In the final book the princess and huntress; then finally Zannah. But yes the only time Bane went out of his way to hunt then down was to manipulate them to use the thought bomb.
