I'm always impressed by these early CGI folks who are all having to make this shit manually and are working with basically zero precedent. Impressive stuff.

The editor is who actually makes the film. The director makes 9 hours of film and the editor makes its 2:30 hours.

George was caught in the trap of having everything at his disposal - he simply forgot what he should do (which is to focus on story, narrative, and characters), and unfortunately, did whatever he could do with his new technological toys. The narrative was lost in the sheer amount of CGI used in this film, and the plot was so involved, the wooden characters were essentially simulacra for his blue screen vision. In Anakin, he had the seeds for a great arc - from hero to villain (born a slave, betrayal by Jedi, loss of a mentor, etc.) - but instead, focused on stuffing his movie with so much CGI (Jar-Jar, I'm talking to you) that it distracted from what could have been a fascinating hero's journey. I think he might do it differently today (but I'm not sure).

Lucas has never been any good at writing coherent plots and characters. He's more into SFX and creating technological advancements, and even then it wasn't actually him who created them. That's part of the reason why these films come across as a big technology experiment rather than a proper well thought out story.

Still better than Disney’s trash

Waaay too many cartoonish Muppets and gags. I'm wondering what Lucas was trying to make here, a Star Wars film or Spaceballs 2? It's also the sign of a bad director when you feel the need to direct actors by CGI edits rather than telling them on set to do things differently.

I think while Star Wars had the vision of George Lucas ,everything was fine. Nowdays with Disney 🤮

There was no "vision". The PT that we got was dramatically different to the original ideas he had in the 70's.
