Attack of the Clones had the difficult task of proving that The Phantom Menace was a fluke and that the prequel trilogy was still a super good idea. If you ask most people, it failed pretty hard at that. The movie brought us Hayden Christensen as an Anakin Skywalker in his late teenage years, transformed from a tiny little pod-racing enthusiast into a creepy guy that stares at women for far too long and whines about everything. George Lucas also put the pedal to the metal in terms of CGI, using some in virtually every single shot. The movie also raises a ton of questions… like why was Anakin assigned to protect Padme when there were so many qualified Jedi just sitting around? What exactly does she even see in him? Why does Yoda walk into a fight with a cane and suddenly bounce around like a pinball?

Yes. It were as if Lucas had a similar meeting mid-production, and got to a point in the movie where he said "Okay these are prequels, and we're at the midpoint. What does the finish line look like again?" "Well sir, your protagonist has two kids, becomes quite evil, betrays the order, and oh yeah, fans probably want to see how he got into the suit." "And where are we now, again?" "Okay. The protagonist is looking like those 50% of men whose family tree won't fork, because this dude is just not a competent partner for a Senator who could choose any man in the galaxy. You've just introduced a major plot point, driven by a character not yet heard from or seen. Probably worth a B-plot, or maybe even a C if you have a neat trick still up your sleeve. Should we work on some concept art for this Sif-" "-Tuttututt. Explosions. Big space battle with all the jedi and all the bugs-" "Bugs sir?" "The bugs....umm...they build the droids. The flashes and booms will deter anyone from questioning why ObiWan fights the clone template on one planet, and follows him to the next, where he fights alongside the separatists. There won't be any time for a deliberative galactic body to question these events. Neither will our earthbound viewers. It's WAR TIME!" "But the movies will be on DVD. There's an internet. It's quite easy to understand why he has to fight like this. If he can jump high and quickly they can have shots from different angles and Yoda can actually reach out Dooku duh. What does people want to see, Dooku keeping a tiny alien at distance easily and just him poking a small target on the ground over and over...?

I liked a lot of the stuff from it. The one where Anakin slaughters the sandpeople with angry tears in his eyes was one of the best displays of emotion ever. It showed Anakin has a short temper and tends to give in to rage. Hayden Christiansen played the part beautifully. He really captured Anakin's boyish naive nature of wanting more than what he's given.
