Disney's treatment of Star Wars has been mixed, but there's no denying that they've handled Vader well. Rogue One, Fallen Order, and now this have all shown why he's feared throughout the galaxy.

You can tell Lord Vader was just playing with his food in that fight. He didn't want to kill Obi Wan, he wanted him to suffer. I wager that the counter point to this fight will come in a later episode.

"Every time I look at her... I see her mother's face" this line SLEW me, what a fantastic line to put in and make Padme more important. I also noticed that when Obi-Wan was in the fire, his screams and wails sounded very much like Anakin's when he was in that position on Mustafar.

ObiWan describing his earliest memories before (willfully) going to the Jedi is a set up for Leia feeling and experiencing the memory of her mother so the line in Return of the Jedi makes sense. Also that scene with Reva finding The Path was wonderful because it conveys so much without a word being said. She is totally angry at ObiWan because she blames him for her being captured by the Inquisitors. Her face reads “this could have been me?!”

The moment with the Empire loving civilian alien wasnt heavy handed. If it was there would be dialogue alluding to dumb modern political references like “the Empire is making the galaxy great again”. The way this is handled is perfect because it pulls from so many moments in real life history of collaborators working with fascists. And I am 100% with you Sage, that moment was definitely a spin on the underground networks of jews escaping Europe and I am NOT jewish.

Its a little thing, but l really wish one of the Stormtroopers would've said "I'm sorry for your loss" before leaving It was clear Obi was being genuine that he sees her mother in her face and l think just one hardened bad guy soldier out of the six of them would be able to pick up on that enough to feel the need to at least be polite to a guy they've shared a ride with and buys that he is lost and just trying to bond with his kid, and we as the audience know that Obi needs to hear someone give him compassion for all that he actually has lost. Would've been a nice humanizing moment to remember they're just misguided people with authority under those helmets, and not just evil, to have the only person who's ever given Obi an "Its okay what you're going through" be a stormtrooper as an inverse to Obi giving the homeless stormtrooper help in the previos episode.

I like everything happening in the show, I just don't like how it's happening. The writers are doing a great job with the new Star Wars shows but whoever is behind the directing, cinematography, choreography, lighting, editing etc are really dropping the ball hard. I thought it was maybe just down to the budget but then you look at the trailer for Andor and that actually looks like a film and doesn't look goofy as hell every 2 seconds. There's just something about these shows that scream "made for TV" and it's a real shame, every cool moment is instantly ruined by an equally lame or corny moment that looks cheap and dumb. I also thought well maybe it's just because it's family friendly so it has to look a certain way, but then so are Marvel movies and TV shows and yet they manage to make family friendly super hero action that both looks good and doesn't make me feel embarrassed about watching it as an adult every 5 minutes. It's a real shame because these shows could be really cool but they really need to bring in some better talent behind the camera and in the editing room. They should've edited Darth Vader's shots to make his movements look less goofy and the shot of Obi Wan running off just shouldn't have been in the final print of the episode full stop. Anyone with any kind of critical eye could see that. It's like they just don't care that it looks dumb. ...don't want to hate on the show too much because I am enjoying it enough, it's just frustrating that it could clearly be so much better.

I was on the edge of my seat this entire episode, it's definitely shaping up to be my favourite season of a Star Wars show so far. Seeing Obi Wan running away from Vader the entire time is an important part of his arc, so by the end of the show we can see how he becomes the man who comes face to face with Vader in A New Hope and accepts his fate by putting his lightsaber away. Also I could be wrong but that "brother" line really stood out to me from Obi Wan. He could've mentioned his parents so we could assume that they'd be dead by now. But his brother would be around his age, it felt like the show was hinting that he could be out there somewhere, that they could be reunited. Maybe I'm reading too much into that but it's fun to speculate

Was anyone else incredibly disappointed by the escape at the end? 1. Vader lights the fuel on fire 2. Vader drags Kenobi through it 3. Vader puts out the fire with a Force push 4. Whats-her-name ignites the fuel again with her blaster 5. The loader droid \*slowly\* picks up Kenobi and walks away 6. Vader just stands there and watches the man he's been searching for for 10 years get away Seriously, what the hell?? I was really rooting for this show, and I really enjoyed the first 2.8 episodes, but that whole thing really broke me. The writers really put themselves in a corner and just wobbled their way out of it in such a broken way. I'm really not sure if I want to dedicate more of my time to this show. Did anyone else have a similar reaction?

"Reva" And when Tala first opens the door to the tunnel for Obi-wan and Leia, at the far end, you can see a fork in the path. When Reva enters the tunnel, her gaze shifts from the right to the left and she makes an expression eluding to her making a decision to go that way. My guess is the fork in the tunnel leads to the same place but is a longer way. And because Leia runs at the speed of slow, Reva was able to beat her there.

The thing I like about this particular episode and specifical the fight is that we are seeing Obi-Wan at his weakest. He's not the warrior he once was and for the most part it looks like he's mostly completely cut himself off from the force. So now we get to see the rise how he becomes old Ben and him restoring his faith and resolve to protect the Skywalker children.

I enjoyed this episode a lot, and i think the pacing was definitely more my speed than the previous two. I think my only real issue with the show so far is more of a personal one than anything actually wrong with the show, which is mainly that I don't feel as much of the tension as I think I should be feeling in some of the more dramatic scenes. I think this is mostly because I know Leia and Obi-Wan are going to be in "future' movies. I definitely still feel some of the tension but the prequel nature of the show definitely pulls me out of it sometimes. Overall though, great episode and I do like the direction they're taking Obi-Wan in as a character in terms of bridging the prequels and the original trilogy, and I'm curious to see how the show ends and where we leave off with the inquisitors.

Obi-Wan igniting his lightsaber, and the minority opinion of it “not being heroic” was on purpose. He’s a broken man and he was having a panic attack and was scared for his life. He knows that in drawing his sword, he won’t be able to perform like he has in the past and be the beast we know he is and fail. How could he be heroic in that moment without it being stupid or worse-being fan-servicy.

I really liked this episode after two episodes I didnt like at all. I liked the moment when Obi tried to run from Vader, didnt seem goofy to me. This encounter is something he absolutely does not want, of course he's going to make a run for it. The moment he lit up his light saber was great too. With it being the only light source around him, it was terrifying looking around waiting for Vader to appear. Great episode until the very last moment....again a moment where Leia was running lol. Maybe there is a explanation I missed but idk. Great episode, this was what I was hoping this series would be, finally.

I like the premise of the story they're trying to tell, but the execution has been so oddly bad it seems like a first draft instead of a finished show. There are so many awkward and poorly done scenes where they are poorly edited or it seems like they just forgot to edit them. Awkward pauses in dialogue, weird stare offs that just sort of peter out, disjointed cuts, so many times I couldn't tell if I was watching an actual show or one of those abridged cuts on youtube. That scene of Vader just watching the droid grab Obi-Wan through the fire and doing nothing was the most egregious. I can believe that Vader wants to let him go so he can make him suffer more through hurting other resistance members or wants to fight him at full force instead of the weak/pathetic version he just fought. But them just having 3-4 cuts of him staring through the fire as the droid fumbles with Obi-wans body and the troopers just missing saying stop him when they could just go around the fire. Then it just ends on Vader turning around and leaving and a scene later Tala comforting Obi-wan what looks to be 10ft away in another ditch. ] A lot of these bad moments remind me of the infamous scene in Loki where he and Sylvie just run around a small set for 10min awkwardly as they try to make something feel grander than it does. The volume is cool tech and clearly can be used to great effect with some other examples (I think Mando does it well and The Batman is probably the best use yet), but there are clear issues with others where they don't know how to quite use it properly it seems and it leads to some incredibly bad scenes.

Anyone else feel like any confrontation between Obi Wan and Vader in this show is really diminishing the aura that surrounds their meeting in A New Hope? Every line each character speaks in ANH really hints at the last time they saw each other being in Revenge of the Sith. Now this show is establishing it’s been 10 years since their last meeting. That’s not THAT long a time gap. Vader in episode 4 is talking to Tarkin like he hasn’t even heard the name Obi Wan in ages, let alone them actually have a lightsaber duel 10 years prior. The continuity of it all just seems off. Another example when Obi Wan hears Luke say ‘Obi Wan’…he says he’s not heard that name in a long time….people are regularly still referring him to Obi Wan in this show. I could believe 20 years is a LONG time but again 10 doesn’t seem like that long.

Enjoyed the episode. I like the idea of a season long chase with Vader seeming to enjoy the pursuit. He's definitely toying with Obi-Wan. Leia was better this episode and the lines of dialogue about Obi-Wan's past and Padme were poignant. The weakest part of this series continues to be the Inquisitors. Performances are just bad and they aren't giving us a reason to care as of yet. Hopefully that changes.

SPOILERS I’ve been waiting for this show for 17 years and this was a huge letdown for me. Pretty lame. Some cool moments (the Jedi Underground Railroad idea is cool), but felt dumb and underwhelming overall. Why didn’t they just walk around that laser gate??!! Why didn’t Frank the alien just have an alien voice/language instead of ZACH BRAFF sounding like Kermit?? Totally murdered the immersion there. Also that planet just looked like the outskirts of Los Angeles (bc it probably was) I wish they had opened with a flashback scene to Ani/Obi during the CW or something to set up their previous friendship. It was cool when Vader was killing the civilians and when he put Obi Wan in the fire tho. Other than that - massive letdown. Did Vader hold his breath for while he snuck up on Obiwan real quiet during the fight? Some of the framing was poor too, like when Obi runs away from Vader and then they make it look like he’s running right back out towards him. Basic filmmaking stuff there. Why doesn’t Vader use the force on the droid that’s dragging Kenobi away, or just walk through the fire, or just walk around the fire? Or use the force to make a human bridge across the fire using stormtroopers? Ewan and the little Leia remain great though.Reva is still one note. Why does the whole show just feel low budget for some reason when it’s clearly not at all? Why did they get the writer of the halo show to write this??! God damn it

Vader is purposely toying with ObiWan. He could have easily destroyed the droid and killed ObiWan but didn’t to prolong the chase and his suffering. Also Star Wars has had plenty of alien characters that speak regular basic (English).

I'm pretty shocked at how little anyone watching this show seems to be talking about how phenomenal this Leia actress is at 8 years old filming this. The amount of times she has conveyed every thought and emotion in her head with just a look is nuts for someone who's EIGHT. She is nailing the vibe of a leader, who's got a ton of courage, is extraordinarily insightful, who can also be funny or charming if the moment calls for it. In every scene she's in this girl just comes across like a peer to these people who have literally been acting longer than she's been ALIVE. That is insane and l kind of feel like she's so good that people are forgetting she's EIGHT and judging her like she's on the same level as everybody else on the show, without really thinking about how nuts it is that she's as good as she is.

Barret! No mention of the Quinlan Vos name drop? Disappointed. Tbh the thing I hated the most (and I’m sorry I do) was the facemask being attached to the helmet. That’s not how it is. Nope. Nuh uh.

I feel like there's a big difference between the fire Obi Wan was dragged through and a volcano planet. So I don't think Obi Wan should have been anywhere near as burned up. Plus Anakin was out there for probably hours

that's kinda where i'm at too, overall ive been enjoying the show and the tone, visuals and the individual moments are good but even in the Obi-Wan/Vader confrontation I didn't feel the level of suspense they were going for because there was never any real doubt of if Obi-Wan was going to be ok or not since we know he's alive in A New Hope.

I think Tim as of recent has been overly critical about a lot of things they've reviewed. Not everything needs to be the "get hyped" moment that you want with Obi-Wan popping on the lightsaber again. I also think he forgot how agile Vader was in Empire and Return when fighting Luke. And this episode, I got vibes that Reva might be playing a double agent of sorts ala Luke in the old Dark Empire comic by going to the Dark Side to infiltrate and upend from within. It might be that she just turns back, but it just felt like she might be leaning this way a few times this episode. I hope so because otherwise I find her story dull as Hell if she was just the lowborn upstart in the group of Inquisitors that they all look down upon.

3 goofy issues I have: 1) Why is a space cargo ship pressurized/weatherized to support life. 2) I don't understand the idea of ports for self propelled space ships. Anywhere on a planet is a valid port if you just need to go up. It would be like forcing everyone in a city to park their cars in one parking lot port. Just park your ship wherever my dude. 3) I think that Vader leaving the tank scene was shot after the Vader being on Kenobi's planet reveal. Cuz it was really weird to have that long reveal of Vader twice. On the planet starting at his feet and slowly going up. When we saw his feet I was like oh man he's here. Then when it started going to his knees I was thinking yeah we get it he's here. Then it finally got to his head and I was thinking what is going on this is goofy. It would be funny if that's how they do Vader every scene, maybe next time they do it with a "Hello I'm: Darth Vader" name tag sticker

Knowing Hayden in the suit took me out of it. I feel like he was just TRYING to be imposing. Also the Grand Inquisitor is a Pau'an, they have 2 stomachs. He is for sure good, but weird to have him in it just to sideline. Also Vader kills anyone that knows he is Anakin Skywalker, this solidifies that Reva was at the temple and must have heard Palpatine call Anakin Vader.

Star Wars is first and foremost marketed to children, and Disney thought Vader killing more kids was a good idea? Oh, but it's fine because we have little Leia and her cute droid to appease the kids. I'm confused who the targeted audience is?

Disney is actually staying true to George's vision of the Star Wars galaxy by keeping the occasional bit of shocking violence in their movies and shows, and they don't do this in the cartoons & shows solely catering to smaller kids, only the shows folks of all ages will watch. i mean, SPOILER ALERT: In the original trilogy Vader routinely strangles people to death with The Force. in A New Hope, Obi-Wan cuts off someone's hand in a Cantina altercation in Mos Eisley, in Empire, Luke cuts off the Wampa's arm when escaping the ice cave, and in turn has his hand cut off by Vader in Cloud City, and Luke also decapitates Vader in his "spirit quest" moment in the cave on Dagobah, and in the prequel trilogy Qui-Gon gets a lightsabre to the gut & Darth Maul gets sliced in half in The Phantom Menace, Mace Windu decapitates Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, Anakin slaughters an entire tribe of Sand People - including kids, not to mention Order 66, while Count Dooku gets decapitated by Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, while Anakin gets his arms & legs cut off, then burned to a crisp in his battle with Obi-Wan. there may be other moments, but these are what first sprang to mind.
