The world and the environments are cool but after 5-10 hours the cracks really start to show. There’s tons of bugs and it’s really lacking in interactivity. The combat and enemy AI just plain sucks. They didn’t make the stealth mechanics interesting or engaging even tho stealth is supposed to be a big focus. The reputation system is shallow and is extremely easy to game. I think it needed at least another year of development to iron out these issues and make the world more immersive.

Another year wouldn't have helped, this game needed an entirely different studio to develop it for it to have any chance of being decent lol
@lilhoss4realsАй бұрын
Here's the thing though. To fix the things you said specifically would require complete overhauls and those don't get done in just a year. When you change entire core mechanics, you have to go through all the code with a fine tooth comb with months of testing just for one of those said overhauls to make sure it's playable and then awhile longer still to iron out bugs. So much of the gameplay here that people don't like were critical decisions made early in development and were being committed to no matter what so the only thing that extra year would've done was to squash the worst bugs that are still rampant and rebalance the AI which could be doable within half the time. As this video seems to stress, that's really all they need to do to make this game actually fun but yeah. The problems I see aren't the kind of things Ubisoft will ever commit to properly fixing. This is a semi-souless star wars open world and it's going to stay that way because Ubisoft will never care enough about their games to do No Man's Sky/Cyberpunk level updates.

I played it. I get liking it. It has a charm. In a 2005 lisence game based on a movie for the ps2 that was rushed to completion but has like a vibe, sort of way. But this is not good enough for todays standards, not good enough for $80 or whatever Ubisoft is charging. My thoughts when playing it was comparing it to another big open world(ish) space game. Mass Effect Andromeda. That game has better combat, better moment to moment writing, better characters, better world design, better on foot traversal, better vehicle traversal, and a way more interesting story. And that game was rightly trashed for being sub par... 7 years ago. You might like Star Wars Outlaws, but it is deserving the shit it gets.

My main problems with this game are, that the gameplay is just plain boring and bad, especially the stealth gameplay and AI. And that the world just feels dead, there's no dynamic anything to the NPC's. You either got the random walking NPC's or the NPC's 'doing things' which is basically standing at a market stall or talking in a group. But there's nothing dynamic about the world at all. Yes the game looks great and they absolutely nailed the Star Wars look, but to keep me engaged in a game, you need more than a cool looking world. I want good gameplay and that is unfortunately lacking. Glad I just paid for Ubisoft + for a month instead of buying it, because this game is worth 20 dollars at best.

What exactly do you have to back up your claims aside from the vague, back--of-the-box, elevator pitch praises you've offered in this video?

@@NoNo-j4t are you being intentionally dense? Outlaws costs 70 dollars. Ubisoft gave him a free copy. That's 70 dollars he didn't have to pay for the game. Not to mention he was also paid in access. Because he recieved a free copy and because he didn't leave a negative review on the game, Ubisoft will allow him access to their future games in a similar way to outlaws. If he made an honest review (and honestly he knows the game is bad many a time he points out faults but doesn't elaborate on them because he wants to avoid actual criticism) Ubisoft would take away that access.
@NoNo-j4t3 күн бұрын
@ that’s not true though, people review games badly and continue to get review copies, unless you have a evidence to back you up? And are you being intentionally dense, his review is honest to all of our knowledge, he points out flaws and design dwell on them, because they didn’t effect him very much, it would have been dishonest for him to whine and complain about bugs and features that he didn’t find annoying or didn’t experience, if a person gives a bad review to a “good” game, are they being dishonest because they didn’t have as much fun as you? Where is your logic??

Im really glad to see a break from the hostility towards this game, I'm personally a huge fan of it, I enjoy just living the life of an outlaw, taking odd jobs before a job gone wrong forces me to go to another planet. I feel like the main complaint people have about this game is its by ubisoft, but its an enjoyable game. Its by no means revolutionary, in fact id argue the game in terms of mechanics is probably very common, but its dumb fun, its a game I can boot up and live in the star wars universe for a little bit, have fun doing contracts. Glad to know at the very least Im not alone in admiring the scenery of the game.

Facts. The gameplay isn't revolutionary and the combat is lacking, but it's still a lot of fun and I enjoy spending time in the Star Wars universe. It scratches my RPG upgrading itch, and there's a lot of fun stuff to do. Also, I got really into Sabacc. Like a little too much into it. People hating on modern Star Wars really yucks my yum, which is sad, since there's some really good stuff underneath all the criticisms.

The main problem that this game has is its publisher, because everyone hates Ubisoft (for big reasons btw), but still they have some of the best environments artist and sound designs that can elevate even their worst games.

What’s funny is so many people don’t realize that Ubisoft is just the publisher here. Massive (the actual developers) have nothing to do with the games people seem to be upset about like assassins creed. If anything massive has a strong track record of polished games that people loved. It’s crazy how much even being associated with Ubisoft impacts peoples perspective.

@@bizlychannelYT Personally I’m still recovering from Phoenix Rising, because that game was so ass It actually made me reject everything that Ubisoft publishes. @@tmbfreak_16 Because the rest is so ASS that it becomes a chore to play. Assassin creed Odissey had this massive open world, but after a couple of hours I was miserable. And I will die on the hill that Pheonix Rising is by far one of the worst, shameless triple A games out there, they tried to copy breath of the wild and mixed it with the aesthetic of the recent AC game at the time and defecate this monster. It imbedded me an unspeakable hatred inside of my soul, which makes me sad because AC origins and Farcry 5, though not perfect, maybe not even good, were genuinely enjoyable to me.
