Like a poster below, I made it about halfway through the video before I jumped to the store and ordered the full kit. This is exactly the sort of thing I was wanting for my full scale R2 build. I love this build. If you want to get a more even illumination in the interior of the light boxes hit the interior with a super white or even white with a slight spray of silver. It will massively reduce or eliminate the light fall off as you get away from the diodes themselves. Keep up these great projects.

Something you might want to consider...timer motors. Not as common as they used to be , but are great slow turning motors. The downsides are the rpm is usually fixed - from one quarter rpm to maybe sixty , and the are typically 120 volt AC , but they are durable and long lived. Just make sure it's a " continuous duty" model. They still pop up as surplus every now and then. For something like your basement build , they might have a use..

Whoa! Thank you Scott, that is a great idea and something that i would love to try. Thank you very much for sharing that.

Looks fantastic! I'm always inspired by your videos. I guess I should get back to work on my Mandalorian mouse droid instead of watching KZbin. LMAO. Keep up the great work!

@@TheSmugglersRoom The biggest struggle is to film it as I build. Still not used to that part and I'm killing myself trying to edit it all. Then I'm burnt out for a week and don't want to touch it. LOL I love your editing style and confidence in front of the camera. Half my brain watches the prop build and half watches the editing 'oohh nice close up.." :D

Great build... as for motorizing the interface pieces are you planning to add gear teeth to the outer diameters of each layer's ''disk'' and with small motors and an arduino or similar small pc to randomly move each layer with a small proximity switch triggered when you motion close to the interface?😎
@TheSmugglersRoom4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! To be honest we have not entirely figured out how all of it will move. Each "wheel" is isolated, but the real trick is hiding any of the mechanical aspects of the prop so you don't see the gears or motor connections. Should be fun to figure it out!

@@TheSmugglersRoom I am thinking to make simpler only a few layers need to move so use thin clear material at a diameter large enough to be hidden inside to move those few layers... but i am but a mere dreamer...you are the geek that makes it happen!😁

What is the grey color name you're using for painting the box ? Thx
@TheSmugglersRoom4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. I’m using a Rustoleum primer gray, and then Rustoleum Dark Gray Gloss. Then sealed with their semi-gloss clear finish. I warm up each can of spray paint in a bucket with warm tap water before spraying.

The Smugglers Room you mentioned this box is different than normal material. Did you seal it before painting like mdf? If so, what was that material?
