Before Season 3 had aired, I suspected that Maul might become the canon counterpart of Joruus C'baoth, possibly fulfilling the same role of being an insane Force-wielder who allies with Thrawn to fulfill his own personal agenda. But unfortunately, the events of Twin Suns sort of shuts down my theory, which means I now have to look for alternatives. For the time being, I'm leaning towards a surviving Barriss Offee or a clone of Count Dooku as my top two choices (I'm saying cloned, as if to mirror Joruus' status as a clone of the original Jorus C'baoth).

Thrawn's defeat makes perfect sense, actually: he might be a brilliant Tactician, but his main weakness is that the factors he either doesn't know about or expect are his downfall. His EU death highlighted that. The Bendu is something he'd never even heard of, and he had no way of knowing about it to begin with. So it makes perfect sense that the Bendu would catch him off guard. Besides, this could be what causes him to seek out the canon version of Ysalamiri in the first place.

It wasn't a defeat, he just wasn't able to kill as much of the Rebels. He even beat the Bendu(which seems pretty dumb, the Bendu can fly, but decides to remain stationary when he's getting shot).

Yeah, it was definitely a victory for Thrawn. All you need to look at is the ships the Phoenix Squadron had before the episode started, and after. Before: Two or Three Nebulon-Bs, a Quasar-Carrier, four Hammerheads, two Dornean Gunships, six or seven Gallofrees and about three Corellian Corvettes. After? Two Hammerheads and a Corellian Corvette. Yeah, that's a crippled fleet right there.

In one of the books, there were a few times where Darth Vader brought up this moment as a way to kinda throw failure in Thrawn's face. He had never heard of the Bendu and just referred to it as "the creature", and seemed like he didn't even believe Thrawn was telling the truth, considering the only reports were those of either Thrawn himself or his personal (fiercely loyal) death trooper guard. It kinda sucks, but it's a reminder that even a guy like him isn't immune to failure...but it is comforting to know that he's only really been beaten when confronted with jedi force nonsense

I love how In this when bendu says “I am the light” and “I am the dark” it focuses on kanen and thrawn, both being parts of each side of the force the bendu represents. he is the light side, but has no commitments or promises. He is the dark, but has no hate or ambition. (I know the last part contradicts the angry bendu scene, but think before you speak) and while he’ll use both, rarely one more than the other, he’d never take a side as he would always oppose the other, and be taken into the ways which he deems as flawed and unnecessary.

It’s an indication that he leans very much to the Dark Side than the Light. He is greatly offended by Kanan telling him that he’s a coward for hiding from the Empire (in which he’s right), which means that this creature which stands in the 'morally grey area' is prideful, a Dark Side trait. Then here he tells the people he’s firing at to flee, and continues to fire at them, which is exactly what a dark sider would do.

One thing to remember about Bendu traditionally in the Star Wars Universe was that they did not believe in the supremacy of light or dark. They believed in Balance. Jedi as a term actually originated from a Bendu word Jeh'daii which meant "moving center" referring to the capability of keeping once balance (emotionally as well as physically) while moving or taking action.

Samuraiedge2 they're supply/transport carriers. They're not attack vessels which is why they're always flanked by xwings or light cruiser. But unfortunately it also means they're normally the first targets for Imps.

The transport ships also serves as troop carriers for them to live in, as well as storage for cargo. Rebel carriers aren’t big enough to store the transport ships within themselves, so they have to stay in space in a fleet convoy

I love how he disappears after his vague warning about how he's going to be defeated. Also, Thorn can't anticipate the more large scale force events. It seems that he can anticipate the smallest scale stuff since he factories in the jedis abilities, but when they do big scale stuff, it's something he can't anticipate like ezren's ability to summon. All of the purgles was outside of thorn's expectations since that's actually one of the higher force powers due to the large number of purgles being controlled old by azra. On top of that, Ezra was able to use his powerful force connection to find out that you need to use frequency zero to summon them in the first place. He was also using the force power of prediction at a very high level to predict every action thorn was going to take similar to how Canaan knew he was going to die as renew everything there was going to happen, even stating a plan that was supposed to initiate the minute thorn showed up
