Time and again the Jedi are the ones who created their own greatest foes. Hell, in Legends not only was it the fanatical Jedi that cast out those who sought true balance in favor of dominance of the Light thus creating the Sith in the first place. It was actually the Jedi that drew first blood in their millennia long holy war.

The original Je'daii sought to maintain balance in themselves by using both Light and Dark, however a group of individuals decided that the Dark Side was the way to go which naturally brought them into conflict with their brethren who fought and defeated the disillusioned group. The victorious group became the new order known as the Jedi who, after seeing the destructive and harmful effects wrought by those who fall to the Dark Side decided that learning the ways of the Light Side was better for all, furthermore not wanting to execute their Dark brethren: they instead exiled them in hopes they'd find themselves once more. But we all know that the defeated group would come to resent this and became the Sith.

Dooku learned that his sister was truthful. Palpatine eventually betrayed him, thus making up for the fact that he betrayed the only family member to have loved him. (did his mother love him? I forgot)

This is why I REALLY REALLY like legends continuity, with Grand Master Luke Skywalker and how he ran the Jedi order. He saw the problem that the Jedi had before, it was forbidding attachment. Love is the jedis greatest power. It fuels the light side as hate fuels the dark. That is I think why the sith always seemed stronger before, it was because the Jedi tried to fuel the light side the wrong way.

To be fair Dooku was trying to use Palpatine as much as vice versa so they both were using one another to achieve there own ends in some way as is the way of the sith.

Eh, it’s an alright backstory, but I liked his old backstory better. The combination of factors-from the early betrayal of his childhood friend to his pupil’s death-better explain why Dooku is the way he is.

I don't like it. Dooku never had Sith eyes, and I assumed it was because he wasn't really evil at heart. As said in the beginning of AOTC, he's a political idealist. He is against the Republic for the same reason Qui-Gon had misgivings about the Republic and the Jedis' place in it. He teamed up with Sidious because they had similar goals, but I don't think Dooku was ever the kind of heartless person who would kill his own sister. Notice how he captured Obi-Wan and told him the truth about what was going on. Then later when the Jedi were surrounded in the colosseum, he offered to spare their lives. He seemed sad to have to be their enemy. I'm sure he would have preferred not to kill any of his old friends if given the option, but they were standing in the way of his mission. I don't like any of this new Star Wars content coming out of Disney.

I definitely think morally grey characters, whether they be heroes or villains, are quite interesting either way. Dooku seems very idealistic in how he believes things should be though I think this is exactly what sets him apart from the main hero that goes his own path vs. the villain trying to do the same, both respective Vanguards. The flipside of grey Jedi ideals that turned dark, much like in the way Quigon is the same due to these teachings but chose the light instead. A true hero that made mistakes always has a chance for redemption. Through sacrifice, you can often see a hero make amends and right the wrongs. You can always rebuild what was destroyed when you think towards the future and well being of those that depend on you, as well as yourself in the moment. The heroes I tend to write are usually like this. True heroes are the ones that grow into them. There are times that demand necessary villains but this just goes to show that Dooku could have been the hero given the right circumstances. But never forget who he passed his true legacy down to. As one who does a little bit of fiction writing myself, I do think he was a well-written character. Very interesting, if not a pessimistic view though. I'd like to think real life people are better than we might initially see them, and essentially, we are all a bit morally grey sometimes.

I can imagine that Dooku returned to the Jedi after leaving it and that he left the order again after Episode 1. Maybe he gave the Jedi another Chance nur after he realizes that they are still too weak and that they couldn't save Qui-Gon, he decided to leave again. But this time final. It's just a Theory by me, but I would like it if it would become true one time.

I Love legends but Canon too. But in this case I habe a Personal Problem with Canon. I liked the idea of legends more that Dooku left the order after Episode 1 which Sounds more logical in my eyes. But I know that the legends Version of Dooku's Fall has been replaced by this new canon-version. I don't hate the Canon Version. I liked the audiobook called dooku Jedi Lost . But I believe that it's still possible in Canon to write a Story where we get the Information that he became a Jedi again after 39 BBY Abs before 32 BBY so he Server in the Temple again. But when qui gon dies he decides to leave the order again after Episode 1 but this Time final. So the legends Story could be make to Canon too without destroying the canon-version we got by cavan scott. My wish is that the legends-version can be combined in some way with Canon, so legends gets Canon too. Sou understand? It's just theory, but I would like it. So nobody would need to hate Canon, because it would be made possible to make somd legends-material zu Canon without creating plot-holes. As king as this is possible I hope that my idea could come true or be possible. Let's just say that dooku let the Jedi believe that he left the order in 44 BBY, but after he helped his Serennian People to become strong again without the Republic he could have have Jenza the responsibility over Serenno, so he wasn't a count anymore and returned to the Jedi. But shortly after Episode 1 he left the Jedi Final and became count again but final. Them he becomes evil by the manipulations of palpatine and he gets the sith apprentice of him after Darth maul ,,died" on naboo. This would be a Theory I would like to come true some day . So some legends Stuff hat the Chance to become Canon too. In a good and logical way.
