Adam Driver is probably the best part of the new trilogy. His character goes through the most, and he very much takes us on that ride with Kylo/Ben. And, yeah, most of this movie felt rushed, for various reasons, so the pacing is not at all on him.

It couldve been. I saw so much potential but he was literally thrown to the side. And I love Rey but killing Ben and having Rey play the lead changes it from being the Skywalker saga. It's the Palpatine saga to be honest and that makes me really sad

He is the only saving grace... I commented on the non spoiler video about how there was no saving grace about this trilogy, but yes.. you mentioned Adam Driver and he is a saving grace, no question. Great actor man, great voice. And, this will not sound classy but I don't care, I have tbh Even if he looks ugly, sometimes it's uncomfortable to look at his face for more than 5 minutes... I know, it's harsh. But hell, who cares if he is ugly, the guy is talented.

I love Joe’s point about passing down Carrie Fisher’s legacy to her daughter, and giving Billie Lourd a bigger part. Mark Hamill said that in the first meeting where they were pitched to return for the sequel trilogy, Carrie leaped at the opportunity and the first thing she asked was “is there a part for Billie?” When I saw Billie in TROS I was so excited that her role might be expanded upon, in honor of her mother. Sadly, not. Another missed opportunity in this trilogy.
@carys7417

macattack423 I was searching for a comment echoing these exact feelings. I went in thinking Billie would have an even larger part in this film, as her part was expanded upon in The Last Jedi plus the losing of Carrie. Wouldn’t have been hard to give her even a couple more lines.

Carla MSM I don’t think it was that disappointing. Dan’s biggest gripe by far seems to stem from Palpatine coming back in the crawl. Once he saw that, I’m not even sure he gave the film a fair shake. I think for most of the people who can’t seem to overcome that plot point, a whole movie dedicated to palpatines return would have mattered. I understand and agree with a lot of his other complaints, but but disagree with others. I think it’s very disingenuous to be one of the most watched places on line making fun of Chewie not getting a medal AND then completely take a dump on it when it was corrected. I think that moment is wonderful. Leia is definitely gripping that medal. It isn’t clear whether it was her medal or Hans but I think either do the moment justice. I don’t think it needed extra exposition (for which they may complain about). This was far from a perfect movie, but it also was not a train wreck. The visuals are absolutely stunning. The main characters of Kylo/Ben, Rey, Finn, and Poe all had solid arcs and screen time. I know they said Finn didn’t have a great arc, but he clearly shows from the opening sequence his growth in the rebellion. He then found other stormtroopers like him, became a general, and got a crazy awesome action sequence charging across a star destoryer. Seeing a land invasion on top of an inflight star destoryer was just awesome. If you can’t have fun watching that, sorry.

I do think Last Jedi and the Rey/Kylo interactions in that one laid the groundwork as well as any previous movies for the possibility that our hero was going to go to the Dark Side. @Amged Fraik Why did you hate that? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm honestly interested to hear your take. My LEAST favourite part of the Star Wars universe has always been all the "special bloodlines" stuff because I don't like the idea that certain people are just "born special" and everyone else is just a supporting character for the chosen few. I loved the idea that Rey came from literal human garbage, and yet is just randomly crazy strong in the force. It just seemed more fair and balanced to me, and I know that the world definitely is NOT a fair place, but that's why I like my stories to champion the idea that anyone can be special, not just those with the right parents. Janna IS Lando's daughter. There was a bunch of stuff cut where Lando tells about his daughter who was captured by First Order. They cut that from story which made it super creepy at the end like he was hitting on her romantically vs father-daughter.
@Bad_Wolf_Media

Until it appears in a canonical source, that's all what "might have been," not "what is." You can't declare that she IS his daughter because it was that way in a cut scene. EMPIRE has stuff cut from the script where Luke led a bunch of wampas into the base to harass the Imperials. But it didn't happen on screen, so it's not "real."

This was great to watch. Some similar thoughts to my own. One of my problems with these films has been that for some reason they've made them fit in an 24 hour period. This is why everything is rushed. Last Jedi they only had what 16 hours of fuel, in this its a similar time for the fleet to come online. Your story can last more than a day, why are they limiting themselves?? Nothing gets the time it should, nothing gets explained, nobody gets a decent arc, so nothing ties together properly.
@andrewj1754
@andrewj1754 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw there was one mention of ‘8 hours left’ and I was like - 8 hours for what? Huh? Whats the rush here? I would have been fine if they didnt do that and could have had a night time campfire chat with the new ex storm troopers and then rey disappeared in the morning. I always find JJ puts crazy time pressure when its not needed. The time pressure Last Jedi is a whole other thing.... It also wasn’t clear how all those random star destroyers above those planets at the end were destroyed.

The Force has always been for everybody. Rian Johnson didn’t invent that. The first six films just happened to be about the Skywalkers. I don’t think fans need a protagonist with a special bloodline. I think the only reason people wanted Rey to be from a special bloodline was because Abrams kept her history so vague with hints. Her parents never needed to be a mystery. It doesn’t add to the story at all and paints the filmmakers in a very counterproductive corner. Abrams just can’t stop doing his mystery box and that’s part of what hurt this trilogy.

Dream Shake Junya Rey doesn’t need to be a Skywalker for the Skywalkers to play a huge part in the story. All you really need to do is have a stronger bond between Luke and Rey as master and padawan. And I don’t think Fast and Furious is a good example since that is nowhere near as expansive as the Star Wars universe.

This is the problem with JJ’s mystery boxes. He set up a bunch of stuff in TFA, left no specific path or answers and handed it over to Ryan Johnson. Ryan made the best movie he could but the fan back lash was crazy so TROS was a course correction and they just gave in and decided to give the fans what they wanted. The mystery boxes are always cool until you have to open them. A great example: Lost.

@@hayleylately3059 If Kathleen Kennedy - the final arbiter of these things when it comes to STAR WARS right now - says that the director has to follow that outline, then the answer is yes. If Kennedy had told Johnson "Here's what we need you to do," and Johnson thought, as you say, it was unoriginal and uninteresting, if Kennedy then said "Tough, that's what's we're doing. I love that Joe watched Ronin Warriors! 😂 Also, I mentally compare Star Wars to anime too.

I’m sorry I laughed when the crawl said, “the dead talk!” That’s just so lazy.

Dan Murrell ily. What they did with Broom Kid was brilliant. And making it about Palpatines and Skywalkers handcuffed the incredible potential it had

JJ's plots are normally cleaner than that? He sets up his puzzle boxes but normally walks away (Alias, Lost) before actually answering any of them.

Fricking Alias. And he intended to do the same with this trilogy.

So just incase anyone was wondering and didn’t already know, this “ominous message of revenge” from Palpatine that was the catalyst for the events of the movie, that we did not get to hear in said movie, could be heard in it’s entirety during the Star Wars event in Fortnite....... There are clips on KZbin if you want to hear it.....I think that tells you everything you need to know about the quality of this movie.

Thank you for saying it. I was half expecting Lando to say "On your left". Endgame simply took all these ending storylines and did them well.
