I got more of an "Explorers" vibe at first than goonies. But I get why given the pirate references. but the vibe felt very similar. Should be interesting, if a bit out in left field. Sort of has some treasure planet vibes too, only their trying to find their way back to their treasure world home, rather than seeking a it out for a fortune.

I'm currently rewatching Star Wars Rebels and there's an episode in season two (ep5) called, "Brothers of The Broken Horn", that had to be the inspiration for this series, where Ezra "borrows" the Phantom shuttle and ends up on a stolen ship with Hondo Ohnaka, the space pirate from The Clone Wars. Vizago, who is the actual captain of the ship, is locked in the brig and Ezra lets him out and they try and retake the ship from Hondo. I really hope this is a new trend for Disney Star Wars.

Skeleton Crew's fan service and Easter Egg deep cuts are next level. Did you notice the ship on the approach to the Pirate asteroid port that looked a little like a Corellian Gunship, or perhaps the early Han Solo's Pirate ship design that ended up being reworked into what would become the Tantive IV? Well it turns out it is neither of these, but specifically a fan mashup design by ILMer Bill George. Knowing of the shared history between the Eagle Transporter from Space 1999 and the early Millennium Falcon designs, Bill George created this excellent mashup of the two iconic designs purely as a fan project, and here it is catapulted into the official canon by Skeleton Crew. A serious deep cut. Bravo. 👏

I look forward to Wim's "coming of age" arc, as he has a long way to grow, and it looks like this team will be able to pull it off. Really enjoy that most of the mysteries to be solved are declared upfront. It’s not deceptive for the sake of being deceptive like acolyte. No flashbacks as plot armor to support and makes sense of some big reveal. Hoping the ship has a path engine. What if mining story was true and the reason for the barrier? What could they be mining? Cortosis? Kyber? Beskar? I’d wager there is an actual Jedi temple on the planet (episode 7). What cameos would you like to see? Zeb? Ezra? Carson teva? Mon? Feel like most of the trailers has been shown or what’s left is innocuous. It’s nice to be able to speculate isn’t of already knowing how it will end.
