1:40 Imagine the rush you feel as a trooper hearing your Jedi general's battle cry to advance. Such a cool scene following close to a clone's perspective, seeing brothers gunned down before the blink of an eye. I do also really like how you can see Obi-Wan in the background leading the charge. Such a major character just off in the front not being the focus of the shot is such an amazing touch. It may not have been the strongest movie but you could definitely see the potential that this offered in all of it's characters, and the way they dealt with the prequel era.

For those who ask why would clones charge the enemy instead of sitting behind the defensive lines. The objective of the Republic forces was to not let the droid army destroy their cannons. On 1:04 we see droids have come really close to strike those cannons, Octuptarras (the name of this droid walkers) were almost shooting them with direct fire. Clones charged to push the droids back. The scene is definitely imperfect, but I don't thing it's too illogical.

@@cryamistellimek9184 Note the big thing that gave the Republic the edge here: Their artillery guns. Another comment pointed out that the droids were getting fairly close TO said guns. So, what do you do when the enemy gets too close to something you don't want destroyed? You push them back. Only way you can push back is by advancing. It's not perfect, but it makes sense.

The Octuparra Tri Droids have got to be my favorite Separatist Droid next to the Homing and Dwarf Spider Droid, Crab Droid, Hailfire Droid, Snail Droid, and the B2 Super Battle Droid. One of the droids that take shit from no one and can have your limbs blown off in anyway with its deadly lasers, but the Tri Droids on Mygeeto are the real hood wrestlers on the spot because they shoot rockets, meaning they can blow anything up and calling it a day while whatever they shot catches on fire. One of the droids that you never wanna throw hands with, because you know damn well you'll loose based on how big and powerful they are

Man Disney really lowered star wars down the maturity rating scale. You won't see battles like these anymore.
@TheDuncanMorgan
@TheDuncanMorgan 9 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think it's become any less Mature. I mean in a more recent episode of Rebels it shows a rather brutal decapitation of two imperial officers to make an example. Hell I sometimes feel as if it's more mature in some aspects, just look at any episode of clone wars with Jar-Jar. As for the big battles, there haven't been any at the moment because of story reasons. Not because Disney has lowered the Maturity rating. After all the rebels don't exactly have a huge army at their disposal like the Jedi in clone wars did. However the action, though on a smaller scale I find the detail and action is just as good. Different, but still just as good. On a side note, if you are looking for a big battle in rebels, I get the feeling we may be getting one in the newest episode coming out today. Though I don't know for sure.

Duncan Morgan lowering maturity isn't just about the level of violence but also about other elements like themes per episodes or arcs, narrative, dialogue and the honest -but not overdramatize crudity of war and life. The way tcw dealed with universal subjects; like loss, sacrifice, the dichotomy between evil and good, loyalty, polarity of war, corruption, politics... was made in such a respectful way toward the audience not like many disney show that are way too condescending toward their audience. But rebels have so much potential (after all filoni is running rebels) and i feel like season 2 will be much better.
@TheDuncanMorgan
@TheDuncanMorgan 9 жыл бұрын
Miou Miou Darling Well I defiantly enjoyed season 1. And if the clone wars told us anything it's that these series get better in time. I very much agree with your first point. It's just a lot of people judge maturity by how much violence there is.

Christian Zavala technically Jedi are not military. Up until the war, they held positions of purely political and civilian status. Furthermore, no Jedi have as far as I am aware ever received the training you would normally like an officer to have received. Thus, a lot of the insane casualties throughout the war was when Jedi were in charge of planning the battles, such as here when Kenobi orders a regular banzai-charge, or on Geonosis when they deliberately fly straight through enemy air-defenses instead of bombing them first - from orbit. that is - or when Anakin and Ahsoka had to scale the monestary, they led their men through heavy fire, because the two of them could survive it. There are...quite a few cases like these throughout the Clone Wars.
@mivapusa
@mivapusa 9 жыл бұрын
Christian Zavala They were, but never received any training in leading men. Essentially, the Jedi were told to leave their temple and lead a hundred-thousand men, but not how. We've seen the consequences of this in real life too, with the International Brigades in Spain, and the Russian armed forces in World War One.
@mivapusa

Christian Zavala And that is why I these days cheer on the 501st when I rewatch Order 66. The clones are getting payback for the millions of brothers killed by incompetent generals.
@mivapusa
@mivapusa 9 жыл бұрын
Christian Zavala Yep. Although Order 66 is actually based on the ruination of the Knights Templar Order, when the King of France, Phillipe, ordered their order dismantled because he owed them money. Anakin's personal story however is based on Arthur Pendragon, and how he upended the kingdom left to him by Uther Pendragon(read: Obi-Wan) Where the scene with the 501st marching in is extremely heavily inspired by the same scene in Warcraft 3 - or the other way around, I don't remember which was first.

I think that the infantry charge actually had a purpose: to make sure the enemy couldn't get close enough to the artillery to take it out. A tough decision for a field officer to make, but those guns were the only thing holding the droids back.

"We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers" -Mace Windu Yeah, no shit you're not soldiers with tactics like that. Ordering your troops to leave their defensible positions and charge headfirst into enemy fire? Not everyone can perfectly deflect blaster fire with space magic, Kenobi. Forget the inhibitor chips subplot, Republic soldiers wouldn't need them to revolt against their jedi generals. Just give them an excuse, no matter how flimsy.
@foujiz
@foujiz 9 жыл бұрын
I really love how hearthless the jedis are, treating the clones as droids, as completely disposable soldiers. I mean the separatist general is in a comand tank UNDER ARTILLERY FIRE, leading his troops and using them as he should ("kind of"), sending wave after wave. Kenobi, on the other and, just because he is an invicible laser saber user ORDER HIS MEN TO GET OUT OF THEIR COVER JUST TO SHOOT DROIDS, making a lot of them die needlessly, because they're really not suited for close combat, as we can see...
@lzrs2348
@lzrs2348 9 жыл бұрын
If they're so bad at close combat then why did they end up finishing off that wave of droids that clearly had more than the clones. Also it looks like there were a few waves before hand that the republic had defeated before. Point is you have to give credit to the clones because they had less men and still managed to hold of a wave of what looked to be 100 battle droids with about 40 or 50 clones.
@foujiz

Lachlan alway Oh I'm not saying that the clones are bad soldiers, i'm saying that the jedis are absolute assholes that don't give a crap about their soldiers, just because they're clones.
@foujiz
@foujiz 9 жыл бұрын
Christian Zavala Yeah, because they are droids, battle droids. And he's also the embodiment of hate. Jedis are supposed to be symbol of peace and high moral standards. The thing that the clone war reveals is that they are not that different than the separatists general, at least in the way they treat their men, caring so little for them while they are sentients beings.
