The fact that the story is out of oder is because of different working times on the Episodes. Every story got written and all 3 to 4 Episodes of the storylines, produced only to not get ready with every Episode so they realesed them when they where ready. It has to do with the difficulties in Animation. Because it takes a lot of time.

They wanted a deeper, more han solo/hero style voice for Anakin in the clone wars, to make him different from the movies. Hayden actually would’ve said yes to voice Anakin, but they wanted a different feel to the character this time. Obi-Wan is voice match as close as possible though. Clone wars behind the scenes and con panels is gold, so much useful info.

Good that you're all watching it in chronological order, if only for the sake of a more cohesive timeline for marathoning-- Dave Filoni was heading the Clone Wars show primarily with the grace of George Lucas, with some pitches thrown in by George throughout, and for reasons that are very Lucas-like; George pitched ideas and often wanted to revisit old episodes to add more context or preludes to them because he felt it was appropriate or he changed his mind. Which resulted in a lot of episodes seeming jumbled and out of order when one episode (an example) would revisit a character that is presently dead or story's whom's arc's have already completed. The fan-made chronological order reorders the episodes in a timeline where the events don't suddenly jerk to the past and end up confusing new people.

It just seemed like the original structure of the story was to be more anthology based and then they scarped that for a more generic structure, and the chronological fan made order is a result of simplistic fans thinkings it makes the story better.

No reason to get upset about liking a kids show. I like Bluey and I don’t get upset that it’s a show mainly intended for preschoolers. Clone Wars is definitely a darker show but elementary kids were watching the show every time a new episode aired on Cartoon Network. I know because me and my friends were among the ones who did when new episodes premiered.

Its not about a kids show having to be dark to be good or that adults should only like mature adult themed animations, but the fact that some adults don’t respect animated shows whether they are intended for children or not. Animation fans then get defensive when any show they like is a show mainly intended for kids/teens because other adults who don’t respect the show and use the fact that its intended for younger audiences to insult them. Me personally, I don’t give a damn if its a kid show as lighthearted as SpongeBob or a adult show as somber as Castlevania, I still think they are both great shows regardless of the audience they are mainly intended to appeal to.

The dude with the stach, Admiral Yularen was in the original Star Wars movie, the New Hope He was one of the high brass on the Death Star, and he was on the station when it blew up. He doesn't have a speaking line, but he does appear in the movie.

The voice actor for Obi Wan is a guy named James Arnold Taylor. He pretty much makes his living impersonating celebrities for video games and TV Shows spinoffs from movies. The guy has an insane range The voice actor for Anakin is Matt Lanter. Hayden Christensen wanted to be involved as the voice actor for the character but the creative team didn't want him, I guess because of the backlash his performance got (not his fault; he can deliver a good performance if he has the right script/director). The difference is noticeable, but what I've found interesting is that Matt Lanter's Anakin voice sounds eerily similar to Hayden Christensen's voice as of now, 20 years later. Dee Bradley Baker is all the clones and he has hundreds of voice acting credits to his name. He specializes in animal and monster sounds, and he does human voices as well (He's Tarloq from Legend of Korra) but when he does a human voice you can usually tell it's him. But his performance with the clones should be studied. If you pay attention, you can tell the difference between the clones. You might not be able to tell which one is which, but you can tell it's different people speaking. So he's putting on a voice which does not sound like his regular voice and he's making that same voice sound like different people. And the way he did that was that he assigned an adjective to each clone so that he could get a different intonation to the voice. He started with flash cards to tell which one was which and now he can switch between them at a moments notice. The voice of the admiral and the narrator is also the voice of Yoda and as I recall he did play Alfred in certain Batman projects

The Clone Wars was originally made as a sort of anthology series, with the moments in the war represented by the episodes as little snapshots, so to speak. When they kept getting more seasons, they had the freedom to go back and fill in some gaps in their story, which is why s2e16 immediately precedes the events of s1e16, and why the chronology is so rip roarin wild. It literally wasn't being told as one continuous story.

One of the genius aspects of this show is that most people watching it have already seen the movies and know what happens in Revenge of the Sith. People always start out saying that's the downside because that means that there aren't stakes because you know which characters survive. But to the contrary, the show capitalizes on it and makes you feel a sense of impending doom and that dread gets stronger the closer we get, with we the audience being incredibly aware of the foreshadowing. It was literally like knowing a train wreck was going to happen and realizing each step that is leading to it, but no knowing exactly when and being unable to stop it

I can't find too much reliable information on this so take it with a grain of salt but basically, early Clone Wars episodes were organized by story arc instead of chronological order. Combine this with the massive amount of people they needed to hire for a show like this as well as how certain arcs took longer to produce than others, they had to basically air what episodes they had in the first few seasons even though they took place after episodes that would be released later. Don't worry though, by the time we get to season 3, it'll all be worked out.

I'm sure others have explained it already but the reason for the "chronological order" is because this show was produced as an anthology series. Meaning unlike most series it had the ability to jump around the timeline of the war to show multiple perspectives and events. For example the movie opens with the end of the christophsis arc but they still wanted to tell stories in that setting so they had episodes that were set before the film. This type of thing happens a lot. but as the seasons kept going they eventually decided to just stick to telling continuous episodes instead of anthology stories becuase it was easier. personally I kinda missed the anthology format because it was so unique, you never knew where or when or what to expect in the next episode. It’s a big part of why i think tales of the Jedi/Empire is so much fun.

As many others have probably said already, the reason why the episodes are out of order was because they were originally released as an Anthology series. "Lets make an episode about this event, oh how about that battle?" etc. Towards season 4 they start to be a concise in-order storyline. It was probably done this way at first because they probably just wanted to make a cool show about star wars battles without much of an over-arching story, until people fell in love with the characters and setting so much.

I don't remember it being hard to follow in release order but I guess it wasn't always chronological but that's what the opening recaps are for and they would fill in story gaps as people requested them I think, like deciding what characters to bring back for more episodes. 3:18 Obi Wan has a much more distinct accent to his voice so it's extra important that he sound consistent, but Anakin has a much more basic Canadian/American accent (like Hayden Christensen), so finding a match for him that's also able to pull off all the stuffs voice actor needs to do (like movement and fighting sounds and even talking while actively fighting, which requires its own approach) so I think that's part of why Anakin's voice actor was recast a few times. James Arnold Taylor (who actually has a great channel here on YT) voices Obi Wan and also did it for the 2d microseries, and Matthew Lanter does Anakin for all of The Clone Wars. I think they both did a phenomenal job overall, and while they are their own distinct sound, they absolutely are the characters, I have super fond memories watching the show on Cartoon Network and their performances have always stuck with me and been some of my favorite in the whole franchise.

The first of season or two had more individual episodes, but as they went on they wanted to explain what lead to those events hence why you end up with season 2 and 3 episodes happening before other 1 and 2 episodes. For the most part season 4 onward are basically just arc after arc and were done in the correct order (I think there were just 2 arcs misplaced after season 3).

Okay, so this series isn’t really chronological in presentation. It’s more like a bunch of mini-series that are about the same time period that all got mashed together to tell the story of the Clone Wars from a whole bunch of different angles. The concept worked great because TCW was such a big event in the history of the universe with so many moving parts and self-interested parties interwoven together that it served the narrative best to approach it from as many povs as possible.

I love it when others discover this show, y’all seem like people that will genuinely enjoy it. I’m a, uh, bit older, saw the ‘77 one in the theater as an 8 year old. When EP 1 came out we were all stoked to see it, got to take my eldest, 5 at the time, to see it. When Clones came out on CN he got into it and it gave us a chance to watch cartoons together every week. At first I didn’t like the change to the opening theme, but now when I hear it I get warm fuzzies of nostalgia of that experience. It’s essentially required viewing for movie Episodes 2 & 3 to really make sense. Especially 3, I’ve seen many people confused about things, notably Grievous, how central he is and how it’s not explained in the movie. I personally enjoyed the seemingly random timeline when it came out but can totally see how a chronological order could be of benefit. Anyways, enjoy.

Quick note to answer something y'all were wondering about: The Clones aren't all the same age. They have a few different "generations", as they call them, which refer to the mass groups they were produced with. So Commander Cody, for example, would be considered Gen 1, due to being amongst the original Clones produced and many of which went with Yoda to the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones to save Obi Wan and attack the Droid Factory. I believe Captain Rex is Gen 2, but don't quote me, I might be wrong. So when you hear the higher ranks or whoever calling another clone "kid" or "son", it's because they ARE older, AND they are Vets of significantly more combat, so a new Gen coming in from Kamino would be fresh and green, while the older Gens that have been fighting for a long time will be grizzled and hardened vets. Hope this helps!

I have been waiting for this Reaction and i appreciate doing the Chronological Order. Speaking of which, the whole out of order thing is really only present until halfway into Season 3, beyond that everything is in Order, except the First Episode of Season 5, but otherwise a straight line.

oh ventress my beloved, its so hype how much you already love her. i always felt the same during the traitor episode, for how shitty it is for slick to sell out his brothers, he isnt exactly wrong. theyre already throwing out some real heavy words in season one, and it only gets heavier as they get closer to episode three

So the reason the episodes aren’t chronological by nature is because George Lucas being George Lucas when Dave Filoni was creating the seasons and episodes would just be like I liked that episode so what happened beforehand and then what happened before that which is why some episode arcs are seasons apart 😂. I.e Clone Wars movie comes out George likes it so they do an episode about setting up the defences beforehand which he also liked so they did an episode on how they got down onto the planet. Classic George always working in reverse and forwards at the same time 😂.

If I remember correctly it was this show, but I heard that when it came to Clone Wars or maybe the later seasons like when it was brought back, that when making it they had to try a lot to get Disney to actually let them make it how they were doing. Probably not exactly the full story if it was this one but I am pretty sure that's what I heard before in a Star Wars video.

You guys should watch The Batman 2004 series, it’s kinda like a prequel to Teen Titans 2003 series. Robin is a bit younger and he looks very similar to how he appears in Teen Titans

The Clone Wars tv show isn’t about Anakin according to Dave Filoni (the guy who made it) It’s about the Clones, and the other characters you meet here who you don’t see in the movies (some you’ll meet soon, some you’ll meet late.) It’s a story of tragedy, to show how it wasn’t just the Jedi that Palpatine used to gain power

In the first few seasons you might notice animation quality inconsistencies, but thats because the show is super non-linear and the chronological order takes from very different points in the series. It should stabilize by the time you guys get to the later seasons. Hopefully you still have a great time!

The clones actually have "ages" btw. Each clone is produced in a "batch" and a "Generation". Think of it like car models. The 1st Generation is considered the best and they are the oldest. The further generations you go down though the less of Jango Fett's DNA there exists to produce more clones so they begin to get watered down, hurting their performance. Rex calling Slick, "Kid" actually makes sense due to both his generation and his battle experience as Slick is still a "Shiny".

The reason it's out of order is because the clown wars movie came out first as a test on how well it took off these 2 episodes came out after and later to finish that story and explain things

A lot of the out of order stuff was due to them working on different things at the same time and needing more or less time for this that or another. I don’t mind the chronological change ups since sometimes the order of some of the episodes really doesn’t matter. But other times it’s really jarring. I remember this being a more of an issue early on that gets better in later seasons.
