What does it mean “canon?”
@thebavariansidonithano90502 жыл бұрын
@@HarrisonHollers After the crazy Legends-books about Lukes new Jedi-Order, they had to do a new canon, so everything before April 2014 was no longer canon, but that didn't mean, that everything never happened there as well. It was just there, because the Sequel-trilogy was wildly different from those books and I don't care how people stand to the sequels, I thought we deserved them more than those books. They're currently fixing the mistake and made things canon again.

I just want to say thank you for making these videos as it helps a lot of casual Star Wars fans to know more about its lore and history, and not to mention you guys are very unbiased (especially when it comes to the sequel trilogy right now) as it is something which we do not see a lot in the fandom.

@bucketofparts2 жыл бұрын
Very late to the party, but I have some thoughts on things you might want to try fitting in next year...not that you aren't killing it as is! And I know you have to make choices given how lengthy this is getting...but just some thoughts! These are in roughly chronological order: • Obi-Wan & Anakin comic miniseries- Anakin first tries to quit the Jedi Order. • Guardians of the Whills/Chirrut/Baze- This gives some more lore around the organizations inspired by the Force as well as introduces movie characters. • Adventures in Wild Space/Graf family- The Grafs/the Starroses/the San Tekkas are the 3 families we know of that propagated all through the High Republic to the OT & the ST. It might be fun to mention that, especially when the Grafs in particular had such an important role in mapping out the Galaxy. • Tam Posla subplot- This is a personal favorite of mine, and not at all necessary, but it would be fun to see the details of this guy’s life laced through the Solo/R1/OT threads. Is he the first/only non-Force user to become a kinda/sorta Force Ghost? Even if by fungus proxy?? • The Grand Inquisitor- Major antagonist of Rebels, has an interesting origin as a Temple Guard and a nasty fate as a cursed apparition. • Zeb/Kallus subplot- The Lasat genocide keeps the evil-depths-of-the-Empire thread going after the Geonosian people are wiped out, then Alderaan, then Cinder. And Kallus is a great example of redemption, the central theme of all the Star Wars stories. • Lost Stars- This is the biggest piece of media left off the list, probably…and it would probably also be the hardest to weave into the larger tapestry given the breadth of the timeline it covers. It’s OK to leave it off, it’s just the one big glaring piece of missing media that stood out to me. • Choose Your Destiny- These are kind of inconsequential kiddie books, I know, but the Luke/Leia one in particular was just fun as heck and it might be nice to have another place for parents to steer their kids to. • Vader Down- A fairly major early comics storyline…including the first confrontation with Vader after he’s found out that Luke is his son. • Uprising- some interesting immediately-post-Empire bits here. • Jace Syndulla- You’ve got to drop mention of him in there after Kanan’s tragic death. • Join the Resistance, Snap’s Fart Wedding- I’m just kidding, don’t include this. Or do. There is not enough talk about how this actually happened in canon. • Rose & Paige Tico - ravaged homeworld, 1st Order atrocities, etc. Rose’s character has been so disrespected elsewhere it would be good to give her some good coverage. • DJ and his whole philosophy could use a sentence or two. I think it’s important to point out that the “both sides are awful” types usually wind up working with the fascists.

Lost Stars, The 2 Thrawn-trilogys, Lords of the Sith, The Alphabet-Squadron-trilogy, Force Collector, Adventures of Wild Space, Battlefront: Twilight Comapny, Battlefront: Inferno Squad, Most Wanted and Last Shot are all nice-to-haves, but not the most important pieces of Star Wars-media. There are rarely very important comics, because most of them just are expanding the Star Wars-galaxy. But if you want a list: Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir Kanan: The Last Padawan The first and fourth book of the 2017-Vader comic series The first book of the 2015-Vader series "Hope Dies" The ninth book of the usual Star Wars-comic series "Rebels and Scoundrels" and "Scoundrels and Rebels" the 12. and 13. book of the usual Star Wars-comic series The first and second book of the 2020-Darth Vader-comic series War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign and The Hidden Empire (All very important) The Rise of Kylo Ren I hope, I helped you with that, and I don't pressure you to read it all, the decision is still up to your yourself.

I always look forward to this each year.. Had to skip The High Republic as I still haven't finished Phase 1 and wanted to avoid spoilers. Was a bit surprised at the inclusion of some material such as Brotherhood since I don't think everything is released yet or long enough for people without ARCs to have done so. Even so, I am quite happy with this very thorough timeline and how much you still had to leave out just to keep the flow didn't detract from it at all. I'm really glad you keep doing this each year for us. It's really so helpful and entertaining! 😊
@StarWarsExplained2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry, the Brotherhood stuff was spoiler-free, or at least nothing that we didn't already know. There's a LOT more going on in that book I wanted to include but kept out this year haha

@@StarWarsExplained - I figured as much, just as there is much to be revealed about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. You always do a great job with these Complete Canon Timeline updates, Alex. I'm wondering what you're going to do when it gets to the two hour mark? The ever growing history of Star Wars is both lovely, while time consuming, and to "sum it up" the way you expertly do each year is no "small" feat. I've always thought the last Legends Timeline update was a bit too short considering a ton of stuff left out, yet the Canon material is ongoing and is not slowing down any time soon and you long ago exceeded the amount of time you spent on the Legends Timeline. I hope you've been thinking ahead for any limits KZbin may have for uploads. Not to mention I can imagine some people may need it broken down for them into parts. Fortunately, I think you are still a few years away from having to deal with going over two hours. I know I could personally just spend a whole afternoon watching a Timeline video by you. You really do that good of a job summing it up and having an entertainment part of it while keeping the steady flow of a narrator. Again, what you do is no small feat each year and that so many of us look forward to it as part of Star Wars Day is a true testament to your ability. Much love and many blessings to you both! May the Force Be With You!

Though untrained, Finn was Force-sensitive, which was part of what fueled his defection from the First Order. Does Finn ever train how to use the Force better? Even on Wookieepedia it doesn't tell you about his Force Skills and abilities! He was able to sense people and objects with the Force! It tells you more about his stormtrooper skill and abilities!

Amazing video as always! so much work that you put into it! After seeing this video I realized two things: 1- What happened to SCAR squad and Eneb Ray? 2- When will we get anything set after ep9? Its been almost 3 years and we havent got not even a book or a comic (unless you consider the Lego specials)...
@thebavariansidonithano90502 жыл бұрын
1. What happened to Krell you can read in one of my comments under the video, as for Eneb Ray: He was imprisoned in Sunspot, but escaped thanks to a false teeth 2. Episode 10 is coming out next year or so, but if you want to know: The warlord Yhez Krusharr appears in the galaxy as a major threat, so the Resistance has to stop him. Yhez gets defeated but ultimatley it leads to Reys death and the fragmentation of the Resistance. 50 years later, the True Empire arises, lead by the Cult of the Central Isopter, who destroyed any signs of the Jedi and the Sith. Only Durin Starbreaker and the Opressors - lead by Poe Dameron - can stop them.

It's crazy how Kix was stuck in carbon freezing for nearly 50 years and he's been frozen since the fall of the Republic, just let that soak in and if I was Kix, I would be depressed that I missed out on all of that and that Rex and my fellow soldiers are probably well about dead right now
