My main problem is this movie feels like it’s trying to pretend like The Force Awakens never happened. They make Snoke a throw away, Luke is barely bothered by Han dying and really not prevalent at all. The First Order is wrecking shop despite suffering huge losses at the end of 7. The scroll didn’t even mention anything to do with how momentum shifted to be as it is. YIt’s just really sloppy. When you think of sequels it’s not good. Blade Runner is the perfect example, along with Empire, as to how to go about creating something new within the cannon you’ve got to work with, and this feels like it just didn’t care for anything that came before it.

David Short I completely agree with you. I had the same problem because it feels like The Last Jedi ignores The Force Awakens and it feels so disconnected from The Force Awakens. It didn't carry on what The Force Awakens started, instead it felt like it pressed the reset button. Enjoyed parts of it but left feeling meh and disappointed. And you're right Blade Runner 2049 was a great sequel, it was different yet It still carried on the legacy of the original Blade Runner while standing on its own.

David Short I actually think it felt, to me, like an even more subpar Return of the Jedi situation. I always loved the Luke storyline in that movie (and I mean LOVED it) and liked the other stuff, but always felt it was a little lackluster-like it was just trying to give the other characters SOMETHING to do while Luke was doing his thing. The same was true here. I quite liked the Rey Jedi stuff, with the lone exception of Luke, who had this arc of becoming a Jedi in the original trilogy, going back on his development when he was going to kill Kylo. But the Resistance stuff was just bad. Finn and Rose’s subplot was really bad (except for the ship stuff-I liked that they failed and, thematically, I liked that it fit the message overall). I think it does make sense the First Order has the momentum on its side. The New Republic was decimated. The First Order only lost its new weapon. It is hardly ideal, certainly, but the opposition government is shambles and it doesn’t have a standing army. The Resistance is poorly outfitted and on the run as the First Order hunts them down. On its own, it is a good idea for a story. The issue is it isn’t explored too deeply.

Bias is hardly present. No one who actually has serious complaints cares about Rey's parents being no one, it was just stupid to make it a plot point that wasn't addressed in Episode 7 with all of the buildup and like 19 prior references. No one cares that Snoke wasn't Mace Windu or Darth Plagues, they cared that he's like the most powerful force wielder in the series killed off early with no information about him at all. Btw, killed off by Kylo Ren being disciplined enough to mentally hide his true intentions and feelings from Snoke actively searching his mind, even though Kylo is the most emotionally and mentally unstable and undisciplined character in the series... like what? I could go on and on about specifically why the plot and points were ludicrous, unearned, unsatisfying, and nonsensical without caring about it meeting theories, but we would be here a while.

This movie made me appreciate how much better paced the plot was in the prequels. There were so many things I disliked in this movie that it made me forget about Leia fucking floating in space during a ten minute conversation in the parking lot right after. A scene like that in any other movie would have been the dumbest part.

Huh. I listened to a few other podcasts with spoilers like /Filmcast, Frogpants, etc. They were simpatico with me that the movie took steps to set up the rest of the galaxy, movies, universe, etc. Rian Johnson took the chances he had to. Very interesting to hear the other side of this argument.

In retrospect, why was I worried about spoilers for this film? Nothing ultimately happened. What could anyone have spoiled for me that would have ruined the film? To me, that is the biggest disservice the movie has done. The "longest" Star Wars film to date, and it accomplished nothing. Where are we now, that we weren't already following TFA?

Matthew Kvamme when I was walking into the theater I jokingly told the employee, “he was lukes dad the whole time?” Really anticipating some big story reveal like we had in empire. And we got nothing. All the talk of snoke and Rey’s origin were useless. This movie effectively killed Star Wars. The fact I wanted to go home and watch the prequels says all you need to know about this movie

****SPOILER THOUGHT'S**** Firstly, they made Finns character entirely useless in this film. They sent him off to disable a tracker literally just to give him something to do. what would have been so much cooler is that the First Order had a plant on the ship which, and Po & Finn have to try and solve that problem Snoke Couldn't agree more. This guy is able to manipulate the force to the point he can get Rey and Kylo to see each other across the galaxy, yet he can't sense that Kylo is maneuvering the lightsaber through the force. Would have been amazing if Kylo had turned in that moment, snoke sensed it and activated the Lightsaber himself, and it turned into an epic duel between Snoke and Rey & Kylo, bit like Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan & QGJ from episode 1. Leia Had a good 3 times when they could have wrote out Leia with purpose. In the scene where the ship blows up from the tie fighters bombs when Kylo refused to shoot, that would have been perfect, and would have suited the plot of Kylo being conflicted. The second time is when they are evacuating the ship, she should have stayed and sacrificed herself so the rebellion could get to safety. What could set the spark of rebellion better than the leader doing all she can to save the people?? Would have been great to see Overall, it's an okay movie, but didn't feel very Star Wars, I have come away feeling conflicted. I can't decide if I like it, think I need to rewatch it to get a better idea if I appreciate what's be done, or if it's a no

I watched 7 last night, some of it is kinda lost honestly. 7 felt like an apology and more Star Wars, still good, but this felt like NEW Star Wars which is way more exciting to me. Excellent film that is part 2 of a trilogy, so it doesn't necessarily need to be a grand story with a definitive end goal. A lot of people didn't like Empire when it first came out too so that's worth considering. I love that Snoke and Rey are nobodies. Seems like nobody wanted them to be connected to anything and now that they aren't its a problem?

footferry1589 hmm... Some key dialogue must have slipped past you. The entire movie teaches us about the pitfalls of hero worship. Why can't what's left of the Empire be guilty of that as well? In the end, it doesn't matter how powerful Snoke was. I agree that there is a story to be told, but that story does not need to be told now. That story is insignificant compared to the story of Kylo Ren. Snoke served his purpose: to show us how powerful Kylo Ren truly is. Luke tells us that himself, when he tells Rey that he wasn't scared enough the first time he encountered someone as powerful as Rey is. Snoke should have realized the same thing, but he didn't. He thought that he was all-powerful and Kylo Ren showed him that he is not. Snoke is a relic of the past that Kylo Ren wants to destroy. Snoke assumes that he is safe because the whole "one master, one apprentice" thing is the way it's always been done. In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren proves that he not only has the power to defy what is expected of him, but to also change this dynamic. He is one of the few in the galaxy who has the power to change the rules. Snoke never was. I really, truly believe that there is a lot of subtext that is missed when we talk about Snoke and how easily Kylo Ren dispatched him. There is no reason besides established tropes for us to believe that Snoke is more powerful than Kylo Ren. We expect him to be all-powerful because he is taking up Palpatine's role. The Last Jedi shows us that Snoke was a fraud, and though he thought he could manipulate Ren, Kylo was much more powerful than Snoke ever even considered. Snoke paid the price for his lack of foresight. Had he seen what Luke had seen - had he cared enough to look - he would still be alive because he would have bowed to Kylo Ren. Instead he held onto this illusion for as long as he could, and he paid the price with his life. Snoke is nobody. Kylo Ren is the master. This is what makes the twist in The Last Jedi so brilliant.

@AuroraCalifornica

My notes: *spoilers* 1. Comedy was great, very Star Wars. 2. Agree about casino scenes, felt more about the set than the story and characters until the very end when the kiddo feels the call of the force with his broom stick in hand. 3. Agree on Leia, sort of, her dying bathed in moonlight at the hands of Kylo's plan, but not his execution seemed to fit well, but in the end, he needs to be chasing her. He lacks real purpose at this point in the movie, and his weakness for her would be overpowered by his anger at his uncle, and he'd turn full bad guy if she died there. Anakin did not become Vader until he learned that Padme had died (and their children, as he thought at the time) and everything he had done that he felt was "bad" had been for nothing, and that there was no "greater good" left to fight for and served Palpatine blindly. 3. All of the scenes around Kylo and Leia, even if they seem ridiculous, are to demonstrate his inner conflict, I see him as Ben during these moments where he's just not doing enough to destroy the Resistance. 4. The Rey and Kylo stand-offs are superb. Despite the appearance of a resolution that Kylo has chosen darkness and Rey chooses light, they are *still* in conflict. We still don't know who Rey's parents are, and neither does she. Kylo is shredded by his uncle's abandonment, him killing his own father, and the idea of ending his mother's life. He is desperate for family, which is why he tries so hard to follow in Vader's footsteps. The only balance that exists between Dark and Light as the film ends is that the both of them are lost and alone, searching for their place in the universe. They are fighting on two sides of a single coin (this pattern is reinforced with DJ pointing out that the arms dealers sell weapons to both the the first order and the resistance). 5. Snoke. Currently he seems to have served three purposes: 1) To bring balance by lifting darkness against the once victorious Jedi, 2) To turn Ben Solo to the dark side, and 3) to bridge Rey and Kylo Ren so that one of them (Rey?) presumably becomes the next Darth. Now, if this were a typical trilogy arc, this is exactly what would have happened. Rey or Kylo would have been victorious in the battle of what feels like two siblings fighting for a father's love, and the next chapter would be the hopeless, fallen resistance to fight a super power, guided by the level-headed Snoke as the emperor figure, guiding his new powerful Darth to inter-galactic domination. Instead, the emperor figure is cut down, as Kylo has risen above his conflict with himself over the dark side and fight for the love of a father (destroying the past), and wants to fight only for himself. 6. Who is the villain here? While it's easy to simply see, ok, he's the villain now, because of his last stand with projection Luke, literally the only reason this distraction works is because that while he was no longer conflicted and bound to need someone like Snoke, he is still angry and heart-broken by Luke giving up on him, and doesn't truly want to end his mother's life - perhaps he doesn't even want to end the Jedi, per say, but wants some other sort of resolution in which balance is lost. 7. Luke's not a character I have much complaint about. I thought his projection was well done, and if you really think back, he was the only one not lifting red sand from the planet's surface during the fight - aside from the fact he looked like his younger self. It made sense for him to die (in the same way Yoda and Obi Wan did with fading), and I imagine he will return as a force ghost. I felt the theme of darkness and light in balance in his story in this piece as well. 8. The "love" thing was weird, and I didn't really care about it. I liked Rose's character a lot, but kind of hate that she was reduced to fighting for her celebrity crush to live in the end of the episode. She could have derailed Finn for reasons other than love. I don't really think Finn should have been flying into the thing at all. The whole scene felt out of place and only there to serve this love story made for fanfiction. 9. Poe did become more of a leader in the end. He called his team to fall back when it was clear it was an impossible task, even though Finn ignored the call. When I listen to you guys talk about the movie we both saw last night, it feels like we watched an entirely different story. I am left wondering what the hell is going to happen in Episode 9 and if there will be three more, because the First Order has no leader, there is no Darth, Luke has passed, and both Ben and Rey are intertwined in this feeling of loss and lack of place in the galaxy. Also, my 10 year old loved it and I saw the glimmer in her eyes behind those 3D glasses I had when I was a kid watching Episode 5. Even if I had hated it (I loved it), that would have told me it was probably I who outgrew the Star Wars.

For Episode 9, my prediction is they will play up the grey areas a little more which was explored in this film. Kylo has a moment of floating back to the dark side when he returns to the First Order, sure. But there is something more to all his actions in this movie.. He cant bring himself to kill Leia, he turns on his master (could have been for good or evil, I see it as him jsut wanting to be free), he pauses at Rey's offers and accusations, just like she pauses at him... hes very clearly flipping back and forth, something will arise to bring conflict of course, as you need that tension in any movie like this, but something bigger is happening with Ren I feel.

It's not just that he's meant to be mysterious, there's a few better reasons: A) He's supposedly the one who turned Kylo Ren to the dark side, and in a movie which is uspposed to be about exploring Kylo and Luke's relationship, we need more information about the person who intervened and caused that conflict; and B) There are hints that he's meant to be not only unbelievably powerful in the dark side of the force, but that he's truly ancient and that Darth Sidious was in some sense aware/scared of him.

He was absolutely no more built up than the emperor was. Means nothing, they served a purpose to the plot respectively for Vader as did Snoke for Kylo. People went into this wanting their fan wishes to come true and that's why so many people are disappointed. That's on them. The story progressed with this whether you guys want to believe that or not, you learn a lot even if it's things you didn't want to happen, and it changed the fabric of what goes into the next movie and the plan very obviously included Leia....which is unfortunate because Carrie died.

Bruce Wayne who says it’s going unanswered? In 2+ years they might explain him. If they don’t then I’ll be on your side. The 2nd movie in a trilogy is not about answers. The only real answer we got was about Kylo turning on Luke. Kylo lies to Rey about who her parents are that they are nobody.
@KylerRamos

I feel most of the disappointment stems from the weird easter egg/hype culture built around analyzing 3 frames of footage from a trailer. People spend a whole yer theorizing and analyzing and creating a fan fiction in their head that nothing could possible live up too. Like in the original trilogy not regarding the prequels, who was palpatine, who were darth vaders parents and why was he so powerful. Not everything needs a purpose or has to be connected to each other, its fine if things are the way they are. Not saying the movie perfect at all but not surprised at all at the massive disappointments.

Some things bothered me in the beginning scene. When the bomb bay doors opened up, shouldn't everyone inside be sucked out? They weren't and were also able to breath. The other thing that bothered me was how the other bombing ships were easily taken down, yet one managed to survive half the journey. The last thing were the bombs. No gravity in space, but they just fell straight down and landed where they needed to be.

In the original trilogy, Luke learned to wield a light-saber by practicing with the combat drone inside the Millennium Falcon and by spending weeks/months doing intensive training with Yoda. In the prequel-trilogy, force sensitive boys and girls would be adopted by the Jedi Order, trained for years, and sent on missions with a Jedi Master to learn how to use force and wield light-saber in combat. In the new Disney trilogy, Rey learns how to use the force and wield light-saber like a master after a few days simply because she is special and girl power?

I don’t understand the hate for this movie, I thought it was amazing, easily top 3 Star Wars of all time. You’re right that it isn’t a normal Star Wars movie but that’s the point, it’s was a character piece, Kylo REN and Rey furthered their characters so much. Also the action scene with Rey and kylo (if you seen the movie you know what that is) is one of the best moments in the franchise.

It's the sith way for the apprentice to want/need to kill their master, and the master hopes to train an apprentice beyond his own power to further the sith legacy. It's the cycle. One master, one apprentice. Kylo saw Rey as a potential apprentice, but needed to kill Snoke in order to become a master. Snoke said he was manipulating both of them to get them to where they were, so he probably wanted Kylo to kill him. Listen to Snoke's dialogue in that scene, he is talking about the lightsaber on his armchair, not the one Kylo was holding. His "true enemy" wasn't Rey, but Snoke. In short, Kylo killing Snoke was one of the most lore heavy Star Wars things ever. It was never Kylo's intention to become good after killing Snoke, but to usurp the throne and rule the galaxy as a sith lord.

I think we are forgetting that in return of the jedi, Vader wanted Luke to join him and destroy the emperor in order to rule the galaxy as father and son. The Last Jedi literally does the same exact thing except without the father and son dynamic. We didnt know anything about the emperor in the original trilogy same with Snoke here. I think Kylo killing Snoke shows that Kylo believes he doesn't need a master to show him how to reach his full potential

It was a good movie, I think they may have went a bit overboard in the comedy department and I strongly believe people who love the originals are probably not going to like The Last Jedi, probably even more than they likely didn’t like Force Awakens. I agree at quite a few points it didn’t feel like Star Wars And I also think some things unfolded, concluded and moved too fast. I don’t know, I’m torn. But all in all as a movie it was good but when thinking about it as part of the Star Wars franchise as a whole, I’m thinking not as good then. My overall rating would be 3-4 stars out of 5 stars. Meanwhile Force Awakens was a solid 4-5 stars.

I thought it all i felt like star wars. I mean, I kinda take issue with the idea of it needing to "feel like" whatever anyway. Just got back from watching this. The movie is very good. Probably better than The Force Awakens. Miles better than Rogue One, which was a steaming pile of crap. The Last Jedi is just a good movie through and through.

Where to start? Nonsensical plot. Boring characters. Overuse of fan service. The movie is literally about stealing the plans to Death Start. Seeing how the original trilogy showed the Death Start getting blown up (cause they stole the plans) we as an audience know they'll succeed. So, cool, it's a simple story. What they needed to do was have interesting characters. They didn't. They played on tropes, gave us no reason to care about our lead, and then killed them off. The movie's pacing was similar to Atomic Blonde, which was also a bad movie. If you haven't seen that, watch it, then pay attention to how quickly you reach for your phone cause it's so fucking boring and the plot so convoluted. Compare that to the Last Jedi, it was the exact opposite.

"If you were to move a can next me I'd be like, hey do I hear something moving" [referencing Snoakes power and threat as a villain] It's almost as if his narcissism and vanity was his undoing. Yeah, I get it: he is a shallow character and is just there to be an extreme foil for the themes that permeate the movie, but that scene was not without purpose. He was so sure that he could not be bested and that his power was so inescapable that he made himself vulnerable by not questioning the gaps in his insight towards Ben - he just assumed that what he saw was indicative again of his influence and not something more insidious.

We still don't know shit about the MAIN PROTAGONIST 2 movies into a trilogy. It sucks because Daisy Ridley gives good performances, but the only things we know is she's from Jakku and powerful. Why is she important to this story? Why is she being dragged into this story that spans for over 50 years. The only explanation we get is she's powerful. Kylo is the only character introduced in TFA that has any sort of depth or reason for why he's being dragged into this 9 movie story arc. The only good new character IMO.

I think Rey doesn't need that story. The truth is her involvement appears to be by circumstance. But if you use the general logic of star wars you could say it was the force and the power within her that got her roped into it. The universe is huge, I hate that everyone is someones kid. Universe is too big for everything that matters to only come from one or two family trees.

Luke was supposed to be cynical and confused, not some all-knowing master who has it ALL figured out - he's just a person dealing with his responsibilies as a master and cracking under them (if you are a parent this was all probably crystal clear to you). He ascribes a claim to the Force with the Jedi that doesn't actually exist and resents them and the practice for it (which is why Yoda destroys the original texts and Luke says that he isn't the last Jedi later on). He is overwhelmed and is only viewing things from the position he feels he was put into. That's also why they make a callback to the visual metaphor from A New Hope when he becomes one with the Force. It was a great character arc and was WAY more than I expected from them bringing Luke back (especially after the crap in Force Awakens). It wasn't that hard to grasp.

At this point, they shouldn’t make Rey’s parents known Star Wars characters, but smoke could still easily be Plagueis. By the end of this movie they just blast of transports of a bunch of rebels like it's nothing because in the next film they will add a few hundred randos to the rebellion which is only 20 people now. You could almost cut huge parts of it out of the story just to make a better next film.

Her parents being nobody was supposed to illustrate a displacement of destiny by lineage or right. Luke goes on and on about how he was mythologized and felt obligated to fulfill that purpose. It is again part of the theme of Vanity - a pretty great one as well. It places doubt in the viewer because it mirrors Lukes current philosophy as well as Bens; learning this could mean that she either feels abandoned as Ben was by his superior or more accepting of the Force as something that exists beyond ones own ego.

Nick: The film doesn't have a purpose... Also Nick: I'm glad it wasn't just Empire Strikes Back - probably would have been better if it was... This IS Empire Strikes Back it was just reorganized; the Battle of Hoth is at the end instead of the beginning, Rey and Luke are stand-ins for Luke and Yoda, Hans character arc is divided across two different subplots and four different characters complete with parallels that inform their own personal arcs as well as the overarching themes of the movie which are Vanity and Subordination. It is not as elegant and symmetrical as Empire as a narrative, but they do some great stuff with the outline regardless.

Whole heartedly agree with this review. I told my friends the exact problems that I had with this film that were discussed in the video. The moments of awesomeness and bits of nostalgia do not justify a good film. This felt like an anthology film when it was suppose to be apart of the trilogy. Overall disappointment and also Captain Phasma is not as cool as everyone wants her to be. Porgs and Phasma are just baked in ads for merchandise.

Are you guys trying to pull some Polygon Last of Us shit? Did you watch the same movie as me? Although I do agree with the "breaking of reality" some parts did feel out of place, but overall I thought it was great

Things I liked about Star Wars The Last Jedi: - Kylo Ren and his transformation into the Supreme Leader (though I didn't like HOW he got there). I love that he's all in with the Dark Side. Just everything about this man and the actor playing this man is amazing! Can't wait to see how Emperor Ren deals with the resistance. - Snoke was amazing until he was wrongfully killed. He seemed powerful and intimidating. I absolutely loved the way he manipulated these two sides of the force (Rey and Kylo) to his own benefit all the while sitting on his throne. - Luke's character arc was amazing and a worthy send-off. From "I don't give no fucks girl!" to reluctant teacher to the ultimate beacon of hope and a true legend. Though I would have preferred if he would have actually been on Crait and there would have been a proper light-saber duel (the only one in the movie) with him dying in the end. I also loved that his journey began the same way it ended; staring off into a sunset. - Loved the chemistry between Kylo and Rey and how they bounced off each other. The throne room scene is absolutely one of the best in the series. Just two bad ass people doing bad ass things! Whooo! Gets me excited every time. BTW the Royal Guards are freaking awesome! - The opening scene is awesome!!! One of the best space battles in the series. Poe is awesome which is why it's so sad that he gets no character development. - I loved the idea of the dark side of the island in Ach-too. It mirrors the Dark Side so perfectly in that it lures you in and seduces you by offering you what you want but in the end it's just a massive betrayal and a facade. - The whole Crait scene was awesome! The red dust and the hulking Guerilla AT-ATs and Finn almost dying. And of course the climax is amazing and emotional. - The overall production quality of the movie along with the direction and cinematography is great. One of the best in the series actually. The Holdo sacrifice scene is mind-blowingly shot. Now onto the hard part: highlighting the shortcomings and the ludicrous decisions Rian Johnson makes not knowing that he has to set up Episode IX. Which brings me to my first point; - This movie does not in any way shape or form set up Episode IX. The "bad guys" lost again. That's two to nothing in favour of the "good guys". But the resistance still is on the backfoot cowering in fear after winning the war decades ago and recently destroying another beacon of the First Order (Starkiller Base). And guess what, because they can't end the trilogy and the overall saga with the First Order and Kylo winning, the "good guys" will win again in Episode IX. Rey WILL defeat Kylo Ren. VIII doesn't set up IX the way V set up VI. The First Order doesn't look like a threat. I don't feel scared for the survival of the resistance. - Snoke is dead. Just straight up dead. Cut in half by Kylo. Who was he? Why was he doing the things he was doing? Was he a Sith? Was he Darth Plagueis? The sheer amount of wasted potential in this character alone saddens me deeply and guess what? We have to deal with it cause this is canon now. All the mystery and intrigue created by TFA and JJ Abrams is ruined. - Which brings me to Captain Phasma. Who went down like a bitch AGAIN. And this time she's not coming back. What a shame! Just writing this sentence right now feels like a waste of time to me. - Rey is nobody. Not a Force child. Not a child of a Force-sensitive parent. Not Luke not Obi Wan not Snoke. Just nobody. Great! Thanks Rian Johnson. I feel like he went for the shock factor rather than making the logical decisions. - Every scene Finn and Rose and their non-existent chemistry was in. I'll just leave it at that. The casino planet sucked. The shitty CGI horse looking things sucked. The bullshit ass "oh these people are so bad cos they abuse animals" aspect sucked. Just everything about that plot-line sucked and if you don't understand why I can't do anything about it. - Leia lives! Yay right? WRONG!!! This just proves to me that there's absolutely no loremaster and overall guiding figure at Lucasfilm or Disney. These are black and white decisions. There's a very clear right and wrong choice. You actually can't make a movie starring a dead person (no offense. R.I.P. Carrie). Episode IX is fucked. And that is essentially my overall feeling about The Last Jedi. There's no way in hell that this is a good Star Wars movie and the decisions it makes ruins Episode IX as well. Isn't there a loremaster that keeps everything straight and conveys to the creators what is allowed and what isn't? A perfect way to sum up this movie would be to have a picture of Lor San Tekka in the beginning of TFA saying "This will begin to make things right" and then a mugshot of Rian Johnson with the caption: NOPE! To conclude all I can say is that there's so much that I like in this movie, and i would probably love it if it was a standalone film, but there's also so much that I hate... with a passion. The Last Jedi has incredible highs and really terrible and disappointing lows. Wise words indeed.

I disagree with you guys in a lot of ways really. Not only do I think the movie is great overall but a lot the moments you didn't like are the things I thought was so refreshing for the Star Wars universe. When it comes to performances, this movie clearly has the best acting in the whole series IMO. Controversial? Yes. Did I love it? Yes. What I will say is, this movie has pretty deep lows but it also has some of the most amazing moments in the Star Wars series. Overall, I think it was a great movie that really changed things up but it does have some very obvious flaws. I just love the way Ryan Johnson finally started to explore new ideas and a gray zone between Light and Dark. Is it one of the best Star Wars movies? Probably not. But as I said, I still love it.

The gray zone between light and dark only existed for like 2 seconds. The end of the movie it is just back to the same. Very clearly Kylo is dark and rey is light. Kyle is gray while he is blasting 1299324234 lazers into Luke? The gray moment would have been cool if they didn't ruin it later in the movie.

Oh yeah, because Kylo isn't conflicted anymore? He clearly is. Honestly, the only thing that leaves out the possibility of him turning is the fact that we don't have another "bad guy" to take over.

Robert Appleby I felt like the moment that threw the grey concept in the trash was when Luke said he wasn't the last Jedi at the end because they spent so much time building the idea that they didn't need to be Jedi

Striped Spider Sometimes you need to pick the lesser of two evils. That was sort of a theme of the whole movie, also with Fin's choice at the end where he finally chooses to classify himself as a rebel despite knowing that neither side are pure "light".

I think that there is a chance for Snoke to come back if he is in fact Plagueis due the fact he beat death already. Since there has to be two Siths at all time, he could come back until they reach this gray area they alluded to throughout the entire film.
