The hint while watching is Shin’s gas. He starts losing gas income like crazy right around when Lowko is talking about doing the +2 melee upgrade. With no gas, and needing time to bring that income back, he just has to make mass early game zerglings that can’t compete with the full upgraded mech.

the unit comp for Shin is so problematically against ghost, he slowly lost the air control and his waves management is really problematic as well. But he is against Maru, which is always the challenge for Maru's opponent.

When shin started making banelings I thought he would finally go and kick in the front door of the main and kill the production, then go for two engagements to seal the deal

One of Shins' problems, and why his supply advantage was never as valuable as it looked, is that he often had SOOO many more drones than Maru had SCVs. At one point, Maru had 58 SCVs and Shin had 91 drones. That means when Shin has 33 higher supply count, their army is the same supply total, so his army was often not that much bigger in terms of investment than Maru's.

The problem is rather that he bled all his valuable units, Vipers and infesters died insanely stupidly. And then he just had a big army which could not quite touch maru´s ghosts ever.

We all know Lowko has watched Maru vs. Serral. During that matchup - where Serral was extremely dominant the entire tournament - we saw just how strong Maru's determination to survive is. Why is that terrifying? Because it means that the only players capable of winning against him are those that aren't easily fatigued by long, drawn-out matches (i.e. Serral). I truly believe this is what sets him apart in a league with Serral in why these 2 are so dominant.

I'm pretty sure Terrans stopped playing more of the mech style because the hellbat got nerfed so it doesn't one shot lings with 3/0 upgrades.

Banelings costing half a supply is insane, but shin made zero banelings after researching baneling speed. Also in this game maru never even maxed.

​@@ghosthamster6521baneling are routinely killed long before they reach their target and die in order to deal any damage. The ghost can insta-kill one unit each and is still fast enough to run away from the majority or units, can cloak, emp, and a decent health pool without being considered light armour or heavy - psionic which doesn't take increased damage from any unit types except for other ghosts using snipe. However you shouldn't be using ghosts in a TvT given they can only snipe biological units. Bonus damage vs light armour making them decently effective against hydras, and zerglings. Baneling are two shot by ghosts, can be sniped, and requires over six baneling to kill one ghost. Which is only 1.75 supply. Assuming not a single baneling dies while approaching a ghost, it costs 350 minerals, 175 gas to kill one ghost. Plus ghosts are nearly 0.5 speed faster than baneling off creep. So 350/175 (lost every battle) vs 150/125 (able to kill multiple times it's value before dieing. All for 2 supply... Hell even infestors are at 2 supply and have no means of direct damage and lots of weaknesses.

TBH I think new builds and strategies appearing is a must for any game that wants to be active. The constant change is what makes players keep wanting to play the game I think. Take league for example, strategies viable now can be completely out of meta in 6 months

Terrans should always Wall the entrances to bases. Rax are 150 minerals for flying 1000hp walls.. Terran could build an extra 10 every game, and as long as it prevents damage from 1 attack, it pays for itself because of all of the space it denys and damage it absorbs.

That game would have gone radically different if Shin got adrenal glands and melee attack upgrades. All those lings and they were doing their best with slow papercuts. That was definitely Shin's game to lose.

I'll say it. This map is not balanced. You will never see BroodLords on this map, because it just doesn't work. You cannot defend multiple bases and have broodlords at the same time. And worst thing is that broods are not even that strong against mech Terran.

THAT WHOLE FIGHT you gave it to Shin, you panned over the zerg the whole time, Maru was taking ghosts and taking over the zerg base at the top of the map and you were panned over the zerg talking about upgrades. If there is fighting going on on the map, show the fight....nobody cares about upgrades when there is a fight going on.
