I think I've seen a lot of Zerg players in the past also just go for straight up ravager infestor against BCs and managed to make it work. The current Zerg race seems to have a hard time dealing with maxed out air armies ever since the big infestor change.

@@bekasiblis9540 no they were the weakest unit for their cost for a most of starcraft 2's history, they buffed them like 2 or 3 years ago to be able to shoot while moving and also gave them +3 damage against ground units which is when they got strong, before that they sucked and were only ever used as a meme and a "Get out of my game, look at me, I'm so rich I'm beating you with battlecruisers!" kind of thing

So please remind me why BCs are no longer energy based instead of cooldown based. Is it because of HT feedback? Why is it that Terran can just mass their capital ship without solid counters but Protoss has counters to theirs and Zerg just doesn't even have one? Not necessarily trying to complain and call imba, but rather understand the rationale.

@Tegridy Farms For sure in pro games, there isn't enough time for a Terran to get there or they get contained and pros can find a way to beat them. But in a straight up fight, Zerg can maybe pull it off with infestors, provided they get the surprise on them. Lowko himself has talked about how little anti-air Zerg has, so the counterplay is to just never let mass BCs happen. But IF that does happen, what's the real strategy. Protoss has better anti-air, but once BCs hit a critical mass, I'm not sure what their strategy is either. Like I said, it's almost never gonna happen in a pro game, and still unlikely in decent MMR, but if it happens, what's the counter? Personally I've never been satisfied with any situation over the years where the answer "what's the counter" as "never let happen". It speaks to an oversight of a unit being too powerful and being band-aided by being expensive or a long time to build.

These long drawn out battles are precisely where soO's low tech brute force style falls flat on its face. To his credit he did get some infestors and vipers eventually but he's simply not comfortable playing these late game battles and it showed. If you can't beat them directly than go around them. Ling counter attacks were sorely missing. Pressure on the Terran in general was missing. As were mass spores that most top level Zergs use in these situations.

I've now seen 2 castings of this game! Both very enjoyable but of course I prefer Lowko's analysis, pointing out that Soo's eco was a bit too low to out-expand the terran before Dream maxed out. But if a couple of the fights with BCs had gone better for Soo, he might have turned it around. Dream defended too well. A lot of terrans would have crumbled earlier on to the strong zerg aggression. Very interesting game and it does look like brute lords are no longer of much use in this matchup.

Its great that somebody uses mech and actually wins with it, but honestly mech looks so hard to use effectively compared to bio. Dream was way ahead in terms of upgrades, yet his maxed out army couldn't close out the game vs the Roach Ravager Corrupter army. He had to rely on hit-and-run tactics with BC hit squads and Yamato Cannon to slowly whittle down the Corrupter count and eventually starve out the Zerg. If soO had gone for Vipers way sooner and prioritised air armour upgrades instead of air attack, things might have turned out very differently.

you some times ask for ideas: Yamato Cannon and Tactical Jump sharing CD. If Terran uses Cannon and instantly Jump, how many units you would need to do the same amount of damage in the time the jump charged and the BC leaves? Both are pretty good skills, the BC does a lot of damage so making them sharing CD or adding it like a spellcast and giving the BCs energy to use it (so they cannot use them both at the same time, or even being countered by EMP and Feedback to add some options) makes it so they really need to think it tactically and select when feeling secure enough to use cannon or saving the jump in case ... IS A TRAP !

That's an interesting idea, actually! Or not even having them share a cooldown, but giving BCs a global cooldown of like 3-5 seconds between casts. Even that would be pretty huge against their current hit and run strategies.

They're nowhere near useless, it's just that we can't rely on always being able to a-click our way to victory like we used to. Aside from Thor's, Terran still has very serious issues dealing with Broord Lords from the ground, and the new insta burrow Lurkers can be used to help cover Brood Lords pretty well.
