I am a PC gamer but I own an Xbox. I tried Starfield when it released and it just didn’t pull me in at all. However I also acknowledge I didn’t give it long to do so after hearing about the loading screens and how planets were done. I decided to stop playing and give it a year or so and try it again. So I will eventually give it another shot but will still be more time before I do. Glad that many are enjoying it and they are working to improve it.

Totally agree. One thing I'm curious to hear you talk about is that I rarely hear KZbinrs speak on is: there is a thing about space games that is very different to land based games. Exploration is handled completely differently when you can just go planet to planet every hour. 99% of gamers are so used to exploring a flat map with fog of war and visible landmarks. Think all past Bethesda games, Witcher, Elden Ring, Zelda, Ass Creed. This might seem like a small thing, but it's in my opinion the main reason why some just can't get into Starfield. We are ADDICTED to flat explorable maps, they have been the main way we navigate a game since Zelda on the NES.
@dantefettman354Ай бұрын
Late reply, but I agree. The KZbinr NeverKnowsBest made a video that discusses this and uses Starfield as one of his examples. His main point is that we mere humans haven't even achieved half of what we want to achieve with space exploration in real life. Space is vast, empty, and foreboding. So it's no surprise that games such as Starfield, Star Citizen, No Man's Sky, and Elite Dangerous haven't truly captured the space dream game that so many people want yet. We haven't even fully captured that dream IRL yet.

One of the saddest things is that everyone who says something good about the game has to make sure people understand that he doesn't think the game is perfect. I think that's unnecessary. The game is good. No game on the planet is perfect, but Starfield surely is a game that is bigger, nicer looking, deeper and more polished than the majority of games out there. Most games don't even have half the budget of Starfield and can't even be compared in scope. I think nobody should have to justify liking the game. It's a work of art, many people have worked on it. The detail you can experience everywhere in the game is the result of designers putting hard work in. It is only fair to recognize that.

It is fine to be critical, Ok to have legitimate discussions - but just spewing nothing but hate and rage into the ether achieves nothing. Just because you shelled out $100, or even $1000 over the course of a series of games/ live service does not give you ownership or management rights over the devs and producers. And as you say - if they are such know-it-alls, go out and make your own "perfect" game.

I have over 1100 hours in since the end of August. Yes, it's janky in some ways, I think the latest update should have been a 1.0 release (wishful thinking), but Bethesda has also created a platform here that will be around for a LONG time. Can't wait for the Creation Kit. The modders have been keeping this game alive for a while now with various fixes. Qwazar77 is a great example of those rage-bait/click-bait channels. Went to his content, virtually NOTHING positive whatsoever. It wouldn't have surprised me if he made separate content on the same subject that was BOTH negative and positive just for views, lol. Thanks for what you do. I also have to agree with you on Bethesda's evolution. People were disappointed in the lackluster RPG elements when I think BGS's goal was to just get a framework in place. Said it before, say it again, I like the game and so I play it. It's not perfect but I like it enough to spend my time with it and enjoy it. Others need not approve. If someone wants to hate on me or the games I like, or hate on the fact I subbed another month to Disney+ just yesterday, feel free to do so. Who cares... I know what I like and I like what I know. And that's that. btw, companions in Starfield aren't that bad. Andreja is a really interesting character and decent in combat if you give her the right weapons and make use of her stealth perk. She's a killer, literaly, and by far the most interesting romancing option. We are married in my current playthrough and all of a sudden she struggles with me and she even start complaining about things I did way in the past. (how relalistic I remember one of my ex wifes...) And then we have Sarah. Everyone hates Sarah, right? Well, In my current playthrough Sarah died (in the basegame, not NG+) and the only person outside of Constellation who came to the funeral was the former chair of constellation. No family, Sarah was alone. Guess that makes her a little less "bad", maybe. All she had was her work and that dream she tells you about when you play with her long enough. As a loner myself, I can relate to that. In hindsight, Sarah is a weirdo, but she aint bad. Sam Coe has constant identity crisis, (hate on me I don't like this guy) Barret is just nuts, Walter Strout is secretly religious and insecure and Mattheo struggles with his faith.... It's quite interesting if you really spend your time with all the little details in this game, it somehow all goes together pretty well and I like how things can be different with every new playthrough. But because we live in this instant gratification "rush rush skip skip must be best" culture, most people never get to see the real depth of this game. It's a pity.... I like it, that's all I need to know, I'm good 🙂 Here's my obligatory complaint about your video: the spinning vanity camera makes me dizzy. I hate you! May your pillow always be warm! Many of the KZbinrs who talk about it, admit that they either haven’t seen the film, or don’t plan on seeing it, yet believe they are qualified to speak to whether it’s good or bad. I saw the movie and really liked it but when I tell people about its good points, they imply that I don’t know what I’m talking about. People have become more lazy, entitled, and reactionary. It feels like something has shifted since 2020 and people aren’t the way they were years ago.

Luke Stephens, while I never say bad things about people, I completely understand what you're saying about him. His content pre-release of Starfield was not "skepticism" he was going thru twitter comments talking bad about Starfield and how NPC do not look the way he wants, how "hindering" the invisible walls of planets are that you can go in a straight line for 15 minutes, how horrifying the loading screens were. He is entitled to his own opinion but I do not understand why none of the criticism was not a hindrance for me? A lot of the comments on his videos are people who engage in console war bs and brand loyalists either shitting on Xbox or defending Xbox like their life depended on it. It would be a hard sell for him to explain how his content has not benefited from that based on the demographic and that it is actually "educational".

I know every other game is like that too but I felt so disappointed by Starfield at launch that nothing is probably going to change my mind. So I don’t hate on it but I don’t hold my breath either. @@Renfail I have no idea what Luke Stephens has on Tik Tok, because I have never watched it, but I've watched a good number of his youtube videos, and it seems like the Tik Tok stuff just has a load of negative clips, possibly taken out of context. If he posted these clips himself, then I guess that's on him. He has a substantial amount of youtube content, some pretty negative (see the latest Redfall video), some very positive (see the Ghosts of Tsushima PC review). He also does very deep dives into some games, which in my experience are pretty balanced. As for Starfield, if you watch his full Starfield review it is balanced and fair. Ultimately, he wasn't a fan of some of the compromises that were made. For him, it was a good game, but not a great game. Also, I think he's one of those people for whom Starfield got worse the more he played it, so his opinion over time has probably not improved. I can understand that position, because it's the way I felt after about 100 hours. I got my money's worth, but felt too bored with the game to continue. I'll certainly pick it up again after the expansion to see if it feels better.

I find my problem with Starfield, is that the between mission time is very boring to me. I haven't played the current patch, so it may be different now.

I just blocked that luke guy, my life has been better ever since. Can't stand these negativity peddlers. Let people cook, let creatives cook.

I think a ton of people can't cope with the fact that starfield isn't for them.

For the life of me, I don't understand why BG3 won any awards. It felt like a chore every time I started to play. I didn't enjoy it at all and didn't even make it to act 3. Just couldn't force myself to play it anymore. By contrast I had a blast playing Starfield.

i have 300 hours in and completed starfield vanilla not long ago. i liked the game, will give it 8 out of 10. i think most of the game was good. for me the bad things was that it was ALOT of rescource collecting and very hard to store this, it tok way to long time just managing my base and rescources. the main quest could have been better, they could have included humanoid aliens, ufos, black holes and other space anomalies. other then that i loved it. the best memories for me on that game was the uest where you suddenly is transported to a new dimension back and forth and need to solve the puzzle, i also loved the freedom to go almost anywhere, building where you want and there was tons of quest and things to do

@@Renfail it is the best quest of me bro. i also loved the quest where you have to meet this collector and steal the relic. i wish there was other options in the end, like stealing it without him noticing or bribing him, but it was still a fun quest.
