I'm glad the tide is changing. I was kind of shocked by the initial reception. I'm really enjoying the survival elements. It always bothered that I could be on a 500 degree planet and it just doesn't really matter. Now it feels dangerous and you have to make sure you have medicine and a good suit. It's more interesting to me.

Great insight. This games lends the player a good amount of flexibility. My methods so far has been to play 1 or two factions per NG*, -sticking to that until I’m bored, then move on to Constellation, collect artifacts and repeat. I figured I’d wait to NG8 before I get into outpost building.That will be my end game.

You're in for a treat with ship building. I was a 100 percent space trucker. Maxed outposts. Hiring crews. Husbandry and horticulture. Didn't want story/missions. Too much out there. Nice video, enjoy!

Wonderful and fresh to see someone around my age having a YT channel talking about Starfield, between the massive amount of GenZ crybabies! 🎉 I date back from the floppies time myself 😂 I understand why Gen Z finds Starfield boring, I used to play Unreal Tournament and Quake at their age, hell I just restarted Duke Nukem 3D! 😂 but I absolutely started loving Starfield again after their latest update! Especialy the maps for me! I discovered like 50 unique places... Crashed crafts, caves, survival hut etc, which I would never have found and just would have walked by without the new maps! Good job Bethesda! Restore our faith in you, you're still my favorite studio, no matter what they may say! ❤ Ps: I played almost every Bethesda game for 100ths even 1000ths of hours! True value for money! Played about 100h and feels like I did 1% of Starfield really! Funny you didn't try shipbuilding! 😮 It's for me the most addicting part of the game now! Build like a Millenium Falcon full of trash everywhere! 😂 It's hilarious what they allow you to build! I would suggest, not to try it, because 70% of your gaming time, you will try to build your perfect dream ship! 😂 I think, I will play Starfield untill I die! Or untill ES6 comes out! 😂

I was thinking the same thing the other day. The ability to fly between planets would be awesome. Even if it took an hour to fly from one side of the solar system to the other. I just want to experience the sensation of passing planets and moons out of my window.

@@wistiacritch8549 You LITERALLY can already do that, and have been able to do since Day One. You do NOT have to fast travel between planets if you don't want to.

@Renfail I don't understand what you mean. It takes hours to pass a single planet if you don't use the travel feature. You certainly can't travel from one side of the solar system in an hour , as I suggested. Not that it bothers me that much since I've poured over 400 hours into this game.

Same! This game gives me that sense of wonder and the music hits me in the feels. And I LOVE taking photos in the game. The scenery is so breath taking. Before it was a 7.5/10 now with the updates and mods to make it really my own, it's a solid 9.5/10.

Loved this review/update! Being relatively new to gaming,, my main focus over the past 14 or so months has been FO4 and Starfield. I did do a little BG3 and The Outer Worlds and enjoyed both, but I keep gravitating back to the BGS games. I should broaden my horizons, but I'm enjoying these too much right now. I'm doing a similar run on my 2nd play through in SF in that I'm doing a UC focus this time around, and I gotta agree, it's a better quest line. The terramorphs arc is brilliant in my opinion. I love the new maps and the ability to decorate the ships. I don't mind too much running around the planets, but I''m interested to see what they do with vehicles when they get there. So far I think I've had only two or three major glitches after the update that caused me to lose some gameplay, but I can live with all the other "Bethesda junk" and often find it funny. Your broad knowledge and common sense approach to all the gaming "noise" is why I support you. Keep up the good work!

YES !! The *SHELDBREAKER* is one of the best ships in the game. You can also remove some placeholders on the lower deck with an Empty HAB for a very custom Captain's Quarter.

First of all, thanks for the positivity. This most recent update really was a game changer, in terms of quality of life. The game play settings are perfect, allowing the player to adjust the amount of "grit" from a hard core survival experience to silly levels of overpoweredness and everything in between. The map is gold. It's exactly like your ship took detailed scans of the terrain and rendered it into a real-time, interactive 3D model. I was initially ambivalent about the interior decorations, but after putting consoles in front of empty cockpit chairs and creating a small passenger liner with staterooms and everything, I am sold on the decorator feature. While I would have liked some additional exterior Structural parts, this update was well worth it.

I absolutely agree with everything you have just spoke about in regards to FO4 and NMS, for me Oblivion has always sat at the top spot as my favourite BGS title, but being a huge Space/Sci-Fi fan Starfield has now become my number 1 🚀 and with future updates and DLC I’m sure it will continue to improve.

I am mostly right there with you. The update with the gameplay options has been a game changer for me. I hadn't played Starfield in months but since the update I am 50 hours into a new playthrough and loving it. The only difference of opinion is I still love Fallout New Vegas above every other Bethesda title. Great video.

I'm excited for a day to start playing Starfield again. But I played quite a lot upon release. So likely before DLC launch I'll hop back in. I enjoy survival modes in games, so this will definitely be a good addition for me. As well as the mapping looks great, though i didnt have much of an issue with finding places since I enjoy searching open world games.

I gotta say, it's refreshing to see someone positive on Starfield. I agree with many of your points. I LOVED the game at launch. Was it perfect? Oh gods no. All the things people critiqued about the game were things I could completely understand being turn-offs for some people. In one of your previous videos you compared it to Cyberpunk 2077, and how it's launch was horrible and now people regard it as a great game. I also played that at launch and had a great time! However, I do feel that game was a lot more broken at launch than Starfield was. Starfield had a lot of polish on it when it launched, especially for a Bethesda game. It's biggest negatives were gameplay/design things that people just didn't like. Those types of things are harder to fix and I think that is why it's taken Bethesda so long to get the patches out. Finally though we are getting to the point where actual gameplay changes are happening, and that makes me feel that Starfield will have a VERY bright future! Keep up the great videos!

I love exploring the worlds. I look at every mission as an episode in Star Trek and other Sci-Fi worlds. I’ve overheard NPCs discuss the knife thing with hand from Aliens. I recognized the Kobayashi Maru scenario in the tutorial. I don’t understand the loading screen problem. I don’t want watch months of stars going from episode to episode.

I have never played a Bethesda game because hate watching a gun in front of me all the time. First person view in a game is just the worst mistake for an open world game like fallout or elder scrolls. With that being said Starfield has an option to switch to a 3rd person camera view, which is one of the major reasons I got very excited about the game. Starfield is a masterpiece of a game. This opinion is before these updates. I am a day one player. I pre ordered the game and I purchased a Xbox series X just to play the game. That’s another issue, I would never play a game on a PC. I have a game room just for Starfield with a LG c2 OLED 55 inch connected to the Xbox series X and a surround sound system. I have a premium leather sofa that is extremely comfortable. I love Starfield because it’s a masterpiece!! It has everything I ever wanted in a game. The majority of KZbinrs hate Starfield because they cannot tell you where to fine a particular weapon for example. Because it’s randomly generated!! The other half of the haters hate space games and exploration. They are also mad they have to wait till the year 2034 for the next Elder Scrolls game. People keep saying that nobody plays this game because of steam!!! Who the F$$k gives a shit about steam!! Has it occurred to them that the majority of the other countries in the world play on “Console” and not a F$$king PC. According to Bethesda 15 million people worldwide play this game. Starfield will still get updates and more dlc’s in the future. And don’t get me started with mods! I hate mods! I play the game the way it was designed and developed. I don’t want to see any Mickey Mouse alterations in a game!! Great channel! Please show more of this wonderful masterpiece of a game. Thank you.

I'm possibly a decade into not buying any game at launch, with the exception of Metroid Dread. The evolution of the industry has made me that way. I only recently dived into Starfield and I've had moments/pockets of utter joy, and even extended periods where I was completely absorbed. But so far not to the extent of other titles. Fallout 4 is not my favorite Bethesda game overall, yet my time spent exploring the coast (and the Far Harbor DLC) were possibly the most wonderful and satisfying experiences. Daggerfall and Morrowind are my favorite Bethesda titles (maybe Daggerfall a tiny bit higher), and when I usually say that I get a quick rebuttal of "nostalgia". Sure, that is very true, but I think that is a lazy argument. My time in those older games relied much more heavily on my imagination to flesh out the blanks. Both games were graphically stunning at the time, but I was still more invested in my mind creatively than newer games. I find that to be a interesting dynamic: The more graphical fidelity I encounter, the less my own imagination comes into play. Back to Fallout 4 and my exploration of the coast: On initially playing the game, I experienced glimmers of my younger days. The visual look and style, audio ambience, general setting (I swoon over coastal/sea experiences, wrecked ships, rust, sea creatures etc... ) took over my senses to the extent that my real world peripheral was zoned out for the longest times. Sorry for the TLDR, but you speaking on your personal love for the space opera setting reminded me of my love for sand, crabs, waves, ship wrecks, rust, wind and mood. If Starfield is your favorite Bethesda game, then Starfield is your favorite Bethesda game. Keep enjoying your free time in worlds that envelope you in the things that give you joy. ❤

Yes, yes and yes. This might even be my favorite game. I'm level 48 and, just yesterday, decided to start with Jemison and go explore every outpost and landmark and whatever comes up on my scanner. There's so much loot!! And it's high value loot! And it's expensive crafting loot! I could've modded and built and bought so many things by now 🤦 Even better than the loot and the surface resources, I'm very much feeling a sense of exploration and intrigue as I traverse the planet. I had no idea that there were NPCs at these outposts who will sell you hard-to-find resources and materials. I had no idea that animals were the source of a crafting material that I needed. Now I'm starting to wonder what else I haven't seen or figured out. Land vehicles and mod support are going to launch this game into the stratosphere.

Never played any Bethesda games before. Bought Starfield at launch because I liked the theme. Heard all the negatives and waited to play it until now. Holy crap this game is beautiful. Once I started using the console commands to get rid of the things that annoyed me, I can explore and enjoy the story and just run around. I’m playing it in 4K and wow it’s such a beautiful game if you want to enjoy the graphics.

I finally went and completed the main story after the new patch. I do think that this is the state the game should have been in at launch, but I enjoyed it at launch, and I enjoy it now. I am very excited to see what the first expansion pack will add to the game.

The game is a LOT better. I'm playing it again as well and the survival mode has made it more interesting and challenging. I changed the affliction setting, made combat harder, and turned on needing hydration and nourishment and it became the space game I personally wanted. Also since I'm playing on Xbox series X, the 60fps has made the game really beautiful. My only criticism is they do need fix the procedurally generated points of interest to keep from spawning the same ones. It's gotten better with this last update which is great, because that was the game killer for me. I had no incentive to go to these different points of interest because I had already played them. Other than that, I'm loving the game as well.

I guess it's time for me to start a new playthrough. I didn't hate Starfield or anything but I burnt myself out on it after launch. Got to the point I really started disliking playing. Not only did I get bored but the endless onslaught of people crying about the game every place I looked. It was ridiculous. Now I'm excited to pick it up again.

Yes! I totally agree. I quit my first playthrough midway because the game never clicked with me upon release, but now after the update something happened (not just the fps boost) that made the Starfield A LOT more fun and interesting for me, and now I'm having a blast on my second playthrough, which I intend to complete thoroughly. Exploring planets for outposts now makes sense for me, and exploration is a lot better with the maps. Plus, NPCs don't look like morons anymore, which GREATLY enhances immersion. I'm really having fun with the game now (on Series X as well). Also, I've always preferred Oblivion over Skyrim as well, and I've recently said to a friend that I'm feeling that Starfield is my favorite Bethesda game too! Thanks for the video.

I also really like Starfield. I agree it was a good game at release, but it's a heck of alot better now especially with the extreme difficulty and survival style gameplay. I started another playthrough with most of the survival settings on and one of the extreme difficulty setting on, and I am having a heck of alot of fun now. Starfield is my goty last year 2023 and so far this year as well, and yes it's one of my favorite games ever. Also there isn't really that many good space games atleast not at this level of gameplay like Starfield. The best and my favorite space game is easily the Mass Effect games, and the other similar space games I like and I can think of are Andromeda, The Outer Worlds, Elite Dangerous, Dead Space, and Prey(2017) are all great games imo. I simply can't get enough of Starfield, and I wish I could quit my boring warehouse job and do nothing but play it and I am 50(old) and shouldn't think that way but still a teenager at heart and mentally as well. Starfield is easily and without question a 9/9.5 out of a 10 imo.

Haters going to hate regardless, for the sake of hating. I enjoy Starfield, I like it and since the May update I like it even more. Others need not approve on what I like or dislike because it doesn't matter. Haters don't matter anyway and people put way too much weight on other peoples "opinions" nowadays. Who cares, if I enjoy it I play it, that simple. 🙂 Oh and, you should definatly get into ship building. You pay way too much for really bad ships at the vendors and anything you can steal or capture falls short against anything you can build. For only 230k credits that you payed for a Shieldbreaker, I can easy build some of the strongest combat ships possible. You should really spend some time learning how to build proper ships, it's so much fun and easy to learn. Ship Technician runs a fantastic channel for learning ship building, check him out.

I have to agree. I would also say that Starfield is my favorite BGS game so far, although I really enjoyed Fallout 4 and Skyrim. The level of immersion, the graphics, the fantastic music and sound design - there's so much to love about Starfield, and if Bethesda continues to release patches like the one we just received, the game will be a 10/10 by the end of the year.

Yeah I commented on steam that I really like this update. And I am totally with you when you say that there is simply no space RPG experience out there appart from this game, so that even if the game frustrates me (because I sooo much wanted to have a fusion of Skyrim and Elite Dangerous) , this is the only game offering for the space fantasy itch. And no, Star Citizen does not count.

I think Starfield got the cyberpunk treatment but later everyone likes it. Most just follow a trend until the dust settles. Starfield has huge potential when the creation kit arrives. Fallout 4 with the right mods is my favourite. I like settlement building which makes sense but the main story always can get in the way with the role-playing aspect.

I haven't played it since the update - I was planning on waiting for the first dlc/expansion - but I'm tempted. I did really enjoy it at launch though, despite some frustrations. As for what I'd like to see in future (I haven't heard anything about these in the update) I'd like the option to always see my ship land, and always be in the pilot's seat after landing, so I can manually get up and disembark if I want to. And I'd also like either some kind of transmog system or a spacesuit design system. I always go for form over function when it comes to clothing, armour and equipment in games like these. That often means I'm hampered by terrible stats if I don't want my characters to look like they got dressed in the dark that morning. If I could build my own personal suit to combine form and function, or just give one suit another's appearance, I'd be over the moon. (Pun intended.)

My favorite addition to the May 15th update was changing your traits through the unity. It ups the replayability factor for me tenfold. What I'm looking forward to is potentially joining some of the other factions in the game like Ecliptic mercs or House Va'ruun. Maybe some continuation of some of the other faction story lines as well would be great.

My biggest gripes to Starfield was inventory management and the limited cash the vendors had. This update addresses both concerns. Inventory management just takes me out of the fun part of the gameplay. Now I rarely have to worry about it.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Starfield is in a much better place now. I still have to look past the Bethesda jank to enjoy it but I'm pretty forgiving of that if the gameplay is fun. It's growing on me and the systems are really interesting. I can't really think of any titles with as much content and systems implemented. Starfield is pretty rare. Thanks for content
