This is one of the best Stargate episodes and an example for the smart writing in this show. There were so many typical ways they could’ve dealt with the main antagonist in a scifi show. And they did not go for the big showdown, a fleet battle, some hand to hand fight sword fight. They decided to make the viewer think. Maybe a grand, final way for Apophis (and the writers) to make SG1 (and the audience) suffer, by forcing them into a moral corner.

Yeah, this particular network is a bit trigger-happy on the censorship for most of SG1. They even blank it out when a character only says PART of "ass" (Like when Bra'tac suddenly interrupts Sam when she starts to say "ass" during the episode where Anubis attacks Earth). Admittedly though, I did notice that in the last couple seasons or so and during all of Atlantis, they don't censor out the word "ass". Then, of course, there's the time when Daniel came back after being ascended and was lying naked on the ground, covered with a circular blur even though in the original nothing was really visible to begin with.

This is why I admire Janet Fraiser she has such a good heart she's willing to treat that Bastard while if it were me as the medical officer I just would let him bleed out during the interogation process with medical treatment being administered only after the Intel was received and if it gets our guys killed well those wounds would be reopened by the physician but Janet has a heart of gold and even sacrificed herself trying to administer aid to a wounded Airmen who would never have made it home in the grand scheme of things. They probably wanted something light and mobile compared to full size assault rifles. The 9mm doesn't make much sense generally against the armored Jaffa but they seem to be using some sort of AP round as even the Beretta's penetrate Jaffa armor after the first episode (even if Daniel had to dump a bunch of rounds while dual wielding to do so). In the first episode the CAR-15s carried by the Airmen guarding the gate doesn't do much, the Jaffa with Apophis only lose one or two guards despite the troops dumping alot of fire. A 5.56 rifle is certainly going to penetrate better then a 9mm SMG in most circumstances. Still they must have realized that even with AP rounds the MP5 doesn't cut if thus most teams switched to the armor piecing out of the box P90 with heavy SG teams equipped with alot more firepower.

I got to shoot a fully automated MP5 in Nevada a few years back; they jump around too much for them to be of any good besides suppressive fire. They needed a saw-gunner added to the sg teams in my opinion

@@alexpacino1 The SG team members are military trained, they can probably handle the kick of an automatic weapon. Also having a SAW (or rather a Daewoo K3 in the show substituting for a M249) would not fit with the role of SG-1, a lightly armed exploration team. Other SG teams are combat units that are equipped with heavy weapons standard as that their role. Even SG-1 when the situation calls for it will arm up with heavier weapons including AT4s that are used (incorrectly as they are an anti-tank weapon and not an anti-aircraft weapon) to take out deathgliders.
