In ancient Egypt, Apophis was considered the devil. This dude spent thousands of years possessed by his culture's version of the devil. That's terrifying.

Not really. The concept of the devil is foreign to most ancient beliefs. Apophis was a necessary part of ancient egyptian religion and no less accepted then Ra, Amun or all the others.

Technically not a devil. He was more of a thing that they prayed never ever won against Ra. They had a devil figure in Set.

@@darthroden Did Yue take Emperor Ming's body? As is said he's extremely old and the Sarcophagus hardly works on him anymore. As the sarcophagus does still work on Apophis, I'd be inclined to say Yue's host is way older then Apophis's. Yue's host died along with him when he and other systemlords were wiped out by Repli-Carter, which was another crappy way to get rid of some foes that would otherwise have taken valuable time away from other plot points.

Daniel offered the man comfort and respect, seeing the man through the monster who took his wife, and was the face of the enemy. His face, voice, hands, and eyes commanding death, slavery, assault and servitude, for countless numbers, potentially predating history as we know it... and Daniel saw one of the first victims of Apophis. He offered him not rage or vengeance, but kindness and comfort. respect.

I just love how you can immediately tell the difference between actual Ancient Egyptian and the gibberish that the Goa'Uld "language" is. For this scene, Michael Shanks got a script with the actual language (funnily, Peter Williams did not and also made up his words), while for the rest of the show, the writers just created random words for any conversations that had Goa'Uld speech in it (which was supposed to be roughly based on Ancient Egyptian, yet ended up becoming a mess).

@@Syberactive The only group of people who speak language related to that of ancient egypt are coptics, but it's not same. Some people argue ancient egyptian doesn't belong to Afro-Asiatic language family but Nilo-Saharan. So yeah, nobody really knows.

This is when you realise behind every Goa'uld is a host trapped in a never ending nightmare. I'm pretty sure at some point on top of having their selfs surpressed by the overwhelming parasite influence that they can also cause the host to feel terrible pain to keep them fully subserviant(since very strong willed hosts can sometimes slightly resist their control)

Such a sad heartbreaking scene. It wasn't often in Stargate that hosts were freed from Goa'uld control like this. It never really went into any backstory of the suffering a host endured whilst under Goa'uld control either, certainly not like this anyway.

@@Ragitsu If I recall (haven''t seen it in years) Sokar was dialing in and preventing them from dialing out so they couldn't have called the Tok'ra. After both symbiot and host were dead they had no reason not to send him back to Sokar and stop the attack.

It also shows a timeline error from the movie to the television show. By the time the city of Karnak was built Ra and the other Goaulds were driven from Earth centuries before. According to the film the stones that the Stargate was buried under were 10,000 years old, and Karnak wasn't built until about 3500 BC. about 6,500 odd years later. Despite that the scene was touching.

Based on factual info Apophis didn't possess him for more than 4,000 years. As Daniel says, the man was a scribe in Karnak which was built in the middle dynasty around 2000-1800BC.

Yes, as Callumuga has told, Apophis and his host have been sent to Sokar. Sokar wanted to destroy Earth if Apophis had not been sent to him, and Apophis and his host have been sent to him to forbid Sokar to destroy our world. Guido.
