In ancient Egypt, Apophis was considered the devil. This dude spent thousands of years possessed by his culture's version of the devil. That's terrifying.

Not really. The concept of the devil is foreign to most ancient beliefs. Apophis was a necessary part of ancient egyptian religion and no less accepted then Ra, Amun or all the others.

@@darthroden Did Yue take Emperor Ming's body? As is said he's extremely old and the Sarcophagus hardly works on him anymore. As the sarcophagus does still work on Apophis, I'd be inclined to say Yue's host is way older then Apophis's. Yue's host died along with him when he and other systemlords were wiped out by Repli-Carter, which was another crappy way to get rid of some foes that would otherwise have taken valuable time away from other plot points.

Daniel offered the man comfort and respect, seeing the man through the monster who took his wife, and was the face of the enemy. His face, voice, hands, and eyes commanding death, slavery, assault and servitude, for countless numbers, potentially predating history as we know it... and Daniel saw one of the first victims of Apophis. I just love how you can immediately tell the difference between actual Ancient Egyptian and the gibberish that the Goa'Uld "language" is. For this scene, Michael Shanks got a script with the actual language (funnily, Peter Williams did not and also made up his words), while for the rest of the show, the writers just created random words for any conversations that had Goa'Uld speech in it (which was supposed to be roughly based on Ancient Egyptian, yet ended up becoming a mess).

This is when you realise behind every Goa'uld is a host trapped in a never ending nightmare. According to the film the stones that the Stargate was buried under were 10,000 years old, and Karnak wasn't built until about 3500 BC. about 6,500 odd years later.
