Now whether they are just teleported back to thier own territory or into the middle of the sun we do not know; but in this specific case i would say the jaffa and ships were simply relocated as at this point the Asgusrd and Gould are still in what is essentially a cold war. The Gould are growing more agressive and dismissive of treaties and diplomacy as evident by the plot of the episode but the Asguard are still trying to maintain the status quo and not escalate everything into a full on hot war; thus the solution was not killing the interlopers....just....relocate them. Its actually quite clever and was a great bit of world building that made the Asguard feel very wise and enlightend as one would expect from an ancient species such as they.

@@physetermacrocephalus2209 Yeah I agree, I think they were just brought back to the nearest goa'uld world, the Asgard don't really have the ressources to commit to an all out war against the goa'uld at this point in the story, so it'd make more sense to drop them off back home and have the jaffa spread the fear of the asgard + the probable humiliation of their 'god' by being dropped off/stranded on another rulers world.

The Asgard as a species were handled so much better than other advanced societies, like the Tollan or the Ancients. Rather than just make them arrogant jerks, the writers made them out to actually be friendly, eager to help, humble, and wise. The only thing preventing them from outright wiping out the Goa'uld were the replicators, which were also written brilliantly as a threat to them, as they were simply too smart to engage in ridiculous tactics. @@descendinguniverse The Ancients were NOT more advanced than the Asgard. They were on the same level, just focused on different fields. Asgard ships were capable of crossing between Galaxies in HOURS. Even the City-ships and Destiny took days, if not weeks. The Ancients' beaming was heavily dependant on platforms to do the transporting, whereas the Asgard were doing point-and-click anywhere without one. The Ancients managed to make a Time Machine and a Time-Loop machine with great difficulty, the Asgard had a Time Bomb capable of slowing (or speeding) up time by a ludicrous scale.

@@thebighurt2495 it might be that at some point of time Asgard technologies were on par or outmatched the Ancient ones, but long before it Ancients dominated. You may check dates if you want to. There`s so much time passed between Destiny and City-ships. Can`t recall right now what Asgard were capable of during Destiny era. Most of stuff you`ve mentioned seems to be invented relatively recently, after Ancients ascended and stopped care about anything, which still was long time ago from the Tau`ri perspective. That`s probably when Asgard took over and continued developing their stuff.

@@descendinguniverse Granted, maybe the Asgard were the "new kids" compared to the Ancients* 100k+ years ago, but the Ancients were still around long enough to join the Four Races Anti-Goa'uld Alliance and that was only a few thousand years ago. By that time the Asgard had most definitely caught up, if not outright surpassed the Ancients in some respects and, frankly, I think the Asgard were actually smarter than them, if the Ancients had that much of a head-start and the Asgard still caught up to them. *relatively-speaking

Starting the beaming/deleting from the Stargate would be smarter than letting enemies Escape. The Asgard sounds are so iconic!
@Hawk_of_Battle4 жыл бұрын
Actually, no, you should always let SOME enemies escape, especially when you absolutely slaughter them like this. That way they can take stories of your overwhelming might and superiority back to their people, which makes others less like to try and start shit with you later. The Asgard have an image to maintain.

Was just re-watching season 2, and the conversation that is cut out of this ending explains that Thor is going to make a new Thor's Hammer on this planet that will protect it from all Goa'uld (with the exception of Teal'c). Thor's Hammer removes Goa'uld from their host bodies while leaving the host completely fine. Literally 3 episodes later, Daniel finds Sha're pregnant and her Goa'uld dormant to save the baby's life. They spend the episode all "How will we save her and get the Goa'uld out? We must take her to Earth and lock her up until we come up with a plan." ....you were just on Sumaria!!!!! You friggin morons. Huuuuuge writing fail.

Thor's hammer could kill both Sha're and her child. It takes a physical and mental toll in the process of removing the Goa'uld.

They could have used the time machine, what have been found by SG1, to get some tissue sample from their ancestors. Or they could have avoided the degradation of cloning process by uploading the data of the body into a gate's buffer, activating the event horizon and having the body materialized. They have had the necessary energy and technology to do that. This is how they once saved Teal'c when he stuck in the buffer.

You better get a lot of billions, only to get into low Earth orbit on ISS costs about 2 billions or so. Sometime the size of that Asgard mother ship, to get in LEO, 20-100 billions minimum, assuming you take it up in pieces and build it there.

With the current tech we have, it would need trillions to build something like that and even with that money, it might not be doable with our current understanding of tech, so it's a nice dream but thats all it is, a lot of new tech would need to be invented and that would cost a fotune and as I said above, with our level of understanding, it still might not be doable.
