Comes with 100 feet cable. If you have an old satellite dish mount from Dish Network, DirecTV, Bell TV, Shaw Direct TV, you can install the Starlink dish on a roof using the old satellite pole. Also, FYI, the dish rotates on the horizontal axis before it goes up/down while searching for satellite

Great video, but a couple of corrections; the cable is 100ft long, not 50 and the speed test is in Megabits, not Megabytes. Also Elon said that by the end of the year, he expects to double the speeds and get the latency constantly under 20ms. 😀

The motors are only used to put the dish in an optimal orientation. it does not find a single specific satellite. Instead it tracks the satellites electronically using a phase-array antenna. As each satellite flies over every couple of minutes, you don't see the dish move since it's done by electronically steering the signal beam instead of physically moving anything. (Despite the curved plastic cover, the antenna is not curved and does not work like a traditional dish antenna.)

I agree ViaSat sucks in a lot of ways. Average ping times were 600ms plus. BTW you can also mount the Starlink on a vertical pole like the one you have for ViaSat or any pole. I am still waiting on my system to get here in Florida. SOON I HOPE.

Any chance you could plug your starlink into a kill-o-watt meter to see how much power it draws in general use? Its a 90w adapter, likely to power the motor for repositioning and the heater to keep ice/snow off the panels... but I'm wondering what the average typical use power draw is on these. I"m off grid solar... so 90w continuous would be about 2kw a day so I'm hoping its less than that. Just got my email to 'reserve' my service for sometime later this year but the power really is a big concern.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has promised that the company’s satellite-based internet service Starlink will see a huge boost to its speeds “later this year,” - encouraging news for anyone who’s put down a deposit on a Starlink beta kit after the company recently opened pre-orders to the public. Musk made the claim in a tweet, replying to a user who posted their internet speeds following initial setup of the dish and router, saying: “Speed will double to ~300Mb/s & latency will drop to ~20ms later this year.”

I live in the middle of a hustle & bustle city, my connection is still garbage. I’m fluent in current technology, been in the low voltage voice & data field for over two decades. The technology is good, it’s the connections the field technicians make that creates the crappy service. The technician that installed the cable from the main box to my house used a regular indoor coax cable? Yeah, I just went back inside and laughed. The in the know, knows any cable installed outside/ underground needs to be OSP. Out Side Plant. Osp cable has environmental protections, like from rain, dirt, even animals. It has special gel Protecting the copper pairs, & shielding to protect from lighting. I hope my kit has a shielded/OSP RJ45 cable, if not, I can just make my own. Cant wait to cancel my crappy internet provider.
