This man says "no mortgage, so please don't judge". Like I could ever have a bad thing to say about people who are making their own way and living their life in the free and clear. A house takes time to build, but building a home is a labor of love which is never done. Thanks for the video. I'm interesting in buying Starlink in the future and this video is helpful.

You have to think about Emergencies and Hospitals when you live out in the rural areas. What if you fell off that old ladder and was seriously hurt. How far do you have to drive to the nearest hospital? I warned a friend of mine about this in Wyoming and sure enough he had a heart attack and died in the car while his wife was driving him 80 miles to the nearest hospital in Cheyenne Wyoming. I want Starlink in order to get rid of the other internet providers in the cities.

Very nice -- right move on getting the house done w/o mortgage. Decent video editing for a newer KZbinr. We got a deep fixer about 9 years ago - here in WA about an hour out of Portland - took 3 1/2 years before we moved from our trailer into the house. But well worth it. Ya take some lumps and suffer a little - but the lessons learned and the sweat equity makes it all worth while. ==> Kudos on the StarLink -- sadly we hadn't heard about it until last month and we signed immediately; so still haven't received an invite. We had Hughes net originally - HORRIBLE crooks. We were supposed to get over 1 mbps - and got 0.1 mbps according to every legit speed test; but Hughes net insisted their equipment showed we were getting 1 mbps. Then we found a terrestial link - but it was only a few mbps down and less than 1 mbps up - which is a problem for KZbin and in recent years more because I do all the multiple camera video editing for our church each week - before Covid I could upload a single sermon in about 24-30 hours (if it didn't crash) and if I didn't use the I'net for my work - now its totally NA; and trips to church to do an upload are really a hassle. We are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this Star Link !! Has Idaho made its building codes more stringent in recent years. We've followed many KZbinrs from Idaho (Starry Hilder [now no longer in Idaho]; Pure Living for Life and our favorite is Red Poppy Ranch. They all spoke about how easy it was to deal with these issues in Idaho. Our place was luckily grandfathered in as built in 1965 - but otherwise we'd have really had to jump through tons of red tape. All the best to you two - I'll check out some more of your channel.

Congrats on getting in and finishing the remodel. The struggle is definitely worth it and it creates some fun memories that may not seem like fun at the time. I write this as Sierra does the dishes in our only sink (the bathroom sink). Saving up for some kitchen cabinets. Sorry to hear about your bad internet. I know the struggle being a former hughesnet guy about 30 minutes south of Canada. I'd usually just drive to town and download a bunch at the local coffee shop. Terrible. I'm glad HN will eventually get put in their place (in a non-vindictive sort of way). It looks like they are offering their services to some very northern areas right now, and southern Canada, but I'm sure they'll be rolling it out soon enough. I saw that Starlink just received a bunch of state grants, so that should speed things up. Idaho is generally pretty easy to build in. I have built in three counties now (all panhandle), and haven't had any real issues. All can be done DIY style and just has to be approved by the *usually* helpful state inspector (electrical, plumbing, HVAC). Other than that as long as you're outside the city limits, it's generally very limited government intervention. Thanks and take care,

Have some family that, while not the middle of nowhere, hate their local ISP options. They're currently on spotty Verizon DSL, which charges them $40/mo for 2Mbps, and it cuts out randomly all the time. The only thing good about it is that there's at least no data cap. They're basically waiting on either TMobile Home or StarLink to support their area. Whichever shows up first is basically guaranteed their money.
