The old english version had many lines in which they told about Russian army command's mistakes which costed them dearly. Many of those have been eliminated in the new one and been replaced with some propoganda (in most places but not all of them). I'd rather watch the old version, it was far more neutral and unbiased.

Actually Soviets defeated the Nazi Germany. USA UK were just watching and when they saw the Germany at brink of defeat they landed to take some land. Moreover preparation of operation unthinkable is disgusting

Biggest thing we(US) did for the Russians were the 375,000 trucks and 45,000 jeeps sent from '41-'45. It would have taken them a few more years to get into Berlin, if ever. GOD BLESS

The old dubbed episodes were removed by StarMedia because the English translation was not true to the original serving propaganda purposes. This episode is a perfect example. Go watch the english one (you can find it in dailymotion) and then watch this again from the 32nd minute and forth.

In the first episode, in one of those extra scenes, it mentions how students used to celebrate their graduation and then go out during the dawn to enjoy the view. Now that's not the bleak, depressed image the west has built for USSR, is it?

Don't forget about the 45,000 jeeps and 375,000 trucks America sent to the Russians. If not for that, maybe they would have gotten to Berlin by 1950. If ever. We saw how great Russia's attack ability was after Operation Typhoon in '41. GOD BLESS

The USSR produced 180 thousand trucks in 1941. From 1942 to 1945, 400,000 trucks were produced per year. In total, during the war years, the USSR produced about one and a half million trucks, add to this another 332 thousand trucks that were in the Red Army at the time of the start of the war. Total 1,800,000-1900,000 Soviet-built trucks. 375 thousand American cars is only 20% of what the USSR produced independently. Of course, this is a serious help, but far from decisive.
