Wow!!!! A while ago I made a painting, started it with this same feeling, the colors spoke to me, gave me feedback, then the response of my hands was so spontaneous, the feeling was incredible! I wasn’t thinking anything, I was just BEING.. every time I look at that painting now my breath becomes deep... Today I’m watching your video I feel like you are speaking my heart. I feel like I’m not alone.. the color do speak. You are an incredible teacher! :)

Yes its truly a wonderfull way of beginning - and entering the mystical space of creation and wonder and I totally agree its about being present but also truly interested, open and curious - its a kind of a dialogue with life, with the event, the colors, and allowing that significance happens in the space in-between

Painting is a messy but fun art. I work with fiber. It can be messy, just not in the same way. What you do with color, tone, and volume is the exciting part. I get why you speak about the conversations between aspects of your painting. In quilting, it's called "chattering cloth." Bringing improvisational techniques to my art is tricky for the point you clearly illustrated today. Thank you. 😊

What a crucial observation! I usually struggle with getting to the original idea/plan of a painting because it lacks foundation. This was so incredibly helpful....I can draw/paint a beautiful face, flower, or an entire bouquet of beautiful flowers but when I try to paint this way which is how I want to or to create an awesome composition, I'm failing. How beautifully described, how to begin. I have been making representational art for most of my life. Amazingly, I think just these few minutes opened some door I've been trying to open to do with how to begin an abstract painting. I have always felt that art that I feel "works" (for me, that is) is art that is alive, that invites you in, gives you something to do within it, invites you into a conversation. Many paintings can be very accurate, in terms of being successfully representational, but that doesn't mean that they move me... I like art (mine, anyone's) that moves me. Heartfelt thanks to you.

I just discovered this way of painting some days ago.. it was not o purposely but I started to replicate it. It’s amazing how you describe it literally, I am just coming back into painting (I quit when I was teenager) and always “make ups” all over this years. Now I know I want to paint as a way of being. I don’t know how did I come to learn this “approach” (Or maybe it’s just about of getting out of our own way) but I think it also relates with self love and authenticity in the way that you trust yourself enough to allow yourself to play, to be there, because you know you will “discover” something beautiful on the way, you are there listening to what the canvas, your soul or your body asks you to paint next, and of course for this kind of approach to happen you need to beat perfectionism first.. For me it’s also important to be present enough to perceive when we lose the present moment and we start worrying or fearing.. you can feel the difference because in the present moment you feel JOY, LOVE, (EXPANSION) -life movement- and otherwise you start feeling anxious, fearful, impatient.. CONSTRICTION -death movement- so we can stop and just REST and relax or come back to the present. CONSTRICTION or “going places” is not a mood to paint. Even if we talk about vibration.. of course a painting that was created on high consciousness/awareness will be more powerful that a dead soul just mechanically painting to get somewhere.. Well it seems like someone was craving to write a book or to have a chat. Lmao, 2020 consequences 🤣😘

I wish you had a beginner or novice “corner” in your FB group and KZbin channel. You are an amazing teacher and perhaps love working with artist at a high experience level but us novice need your expertise too. I’m trying to discover my media. I love acrylics and I’m having trouble educating myself and finding advice on just getting the paint to behave to give me the affects I want. I know an awesome teacher could fast track my knowledge acquisition. There just aren’t courses and classes in my tiny country town so I’m surviving on KZbin.

The best way to learn how Acrylic paint works and what it can do is just to take a couple of colours (one dark and one light or what ever you like) and some board or paper and play with it. Mix it with water and use it that way. Try no water, then use a dry brush and use a little or a lot of paint and smear it on and just play like a two year old! Toddlers are so fun to watch with paint, they don’t think... they just play and for every action there is a reaction....Scrape it while it is still wet, wait till it dries and paint thin watered down paint over it... so many possibilities when you are just experimenting with paint as a material. Your exploration will teach you more than any one can teach you. Have fun and finger paint or use sticks from the garden or sponges or brushes anything to make marks. You will have so much fun...Cheers
