Why not do two separate videos and get twice the views? Like, I know you said you don't drop just for views, but this feels like it should be two videos. Like, if you're delivering twice the substance go ahead and get twice the plunder.

I've had my hair locked for almost 3 months now and, to be very honest, I didn't have the best start. 😅 My hair was relatively short so my hands were always in my hair. I was washing it every week in warm water, constantly trying to make it look neat, I was always checking to see if it'd "started locking" yet.😂 I was super impatient. When I had almost hit my 2 month mark I decided to leave my hair be. I would wash every two weeks and coming to the end of the two months, I used a crochet needle to "fix" it. It turned out great! My 3 month mark is in a few days and I'm super excited to see how much it's grown. @TP locks, you were my inspiration for this journey and your videos were/are super helpful! Thank you man. 😁

I think it’s a cultural thing tbh the minimum wash approach seems to be catered towards preserving the manicured look in between retwists. Most Locticians subscribe to that ideology. I find most rastas and individuals closely connected to those teachings have a completely different less restrictive approach! I try to understand them both!

Look, don't even worry about the haters. Everything comes with pros and cons, from food to technology, to even different styles of hair. They just can't handle the "con" side of locs, which seems to be a personal problem. I watched the video and left a comment, I thought it was very informative and yet I still took this journey. People aren't always going to agree with you, that's just how it is on social media, unfortunately. Just keep doing what you doing and don't stop posting!

My loc appointment is tomorrow and I’m educating myself as much as I can. It’s annoying that people are so quick to bash because you’re keeping it real. I subscribed to you about an hour ago and I’ve watched 7 other videos and I plan on watching the video of discussion after this one. I’m sitting here with a notebook taking notes from every video that I’ve watched and without a doubt I know you’re “reason why not to “ video will be just as helpful. People think this process will be easy and it’s youtubers like you that keep it real and help those who are open minded know if this is the journey for them and if now is the time to start them.

@TPlocks
@TPlocks 4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s all a matter of the aesthetic. The Rasta way of life doesn’t put any emphasis on manicured, styled Locs. I find people outside that belief tend to want to find ways to preserve that “clean” look so the guidance typically lends itself towards straying from water. I think it’s cultural honestly but you’re absolutely right.

Love your videos! Another factor in locs is also how you start them. I started in September on mid back, natural, 4a, b, c mix hair and did 2 strand twists instead of coils. With me working in management, I needed to have a way to wear a hairstyle (cause I was NOT about to wear a wig, weave, etc over my developing locs) while my locs formed. I knew coils would unravel easily, especially with how long my hair was. By time we finished twisting it, those bad boys shrunk to my ears. But the funny thing is my hair loc'd SUPER quick. It's hard to even find a loc that you can really see the 2 strand twist pattern. I had about 3 twists that kept unraveling in the middle at the beginning that my loctician eventually just did a quick crochet on, and they look just like the rest of my locs. Wish I had done this sooner and can't wait to see my hair when it reaches a year 3 months from now!

I'm 3 days into my loc journey. I so wish that I had started them at the beginning of lock down but for some reason I thought that my hair had to grow longer. I'm mixed and from that chart in your video id say my hair would be a 3a/3b. Been watching a lot of your videos recently and actually showed your hair to my loctition as a basis to go off (although Im currently looking like Kris Kross 😂) Ignore the criticism for the last upload. Anyone who watched the whole video understood that you was given a rounded view of what to expect during the journey. I hear what you are saying bruh, but I started my locs with over six inches of hair, and it took less time to loc. I noticed this with other people I know that started with long hair as well. Damien Walter broke this down a few years back, and it made perfect sense. Longer hair does not take longer to lock up. Stay blessed bruh.

I started with comb coils, and I would just manipulate a cylindrical shape by just twisting and twirling with my fingers every now and then. I would say it took me maybe two months to loc; if that. I heavily researched everything about locs, and I consulted with some rastas that I know on a wholistic approach without all the products. I have this mesh cap that I used within my first few months, and I would shower with it to get my hair wet and wash my locs, then I would just lightly twist and twirl with my fingers.
@TPlocks
@TPlocks 4 жыл бұрын
Oliver Young that’s fascinating! Anytime I’ve seen comb coils on longer hair it’s always taken longer to loc/mature than shorter Locs.. Mainly based on lockers I follow and my own experience with my two journeys. It’s never as quick a locking process as shorter hair. That’s the only reason for the questions because I’m wondering if it’s a matter of products, methods, hair type or something specific? 🤔 either way I appreciate being checked on this! I gotta do more research!

TP locks fasho bruh, I believe my hair texture plays the biggest part. I have 3c, and about all the hair types of type 4. My hair texture is extremely soft and curly. Besides that, I was very consistent my first year. It takes nothing for my hair to tangle up when I was loose natural (de tangling was a nightmare all the time). I just stuck to a healthy routine that worked for me, and I never let up ever since. It’s definitely a debatable topic though, and every person is different.

Good example, I’ve fallen in love with a channel off one video only to realize later that the person had combed their locs out months before I even found them. Another example was a loctician that as I kept watching his videos I realized he had no idea how chemistry worked lol. Lessons learned 😂😂

My first set of locs only took me 1 year but my hair was shorter. So I'm curious to see how long it will take with this set because my hair was down my back. Ny hair type is a cross between 2c~3A. Which helps with the locking process. I'm doing semi freeform now too. IDK if that makes a difference in the time it takes to get to maturity. But it will be fun to see.

My curl pattern is around 3C but 4A in some parts like the sides and back. I’m 7 months in, started off with comb coils with it being around 6 inches in length and have maintained it every 2 months by getting it interlocked. I’ve noticed my dreads in the middle feel hard and locked, but around the outside of the dread it’s still puffy, like it has layers of loose hair around the solid part. Some of my dreads are zigzagging, like not completely straight but actually in a zig zag pattern, some are a c shape like at the back, probably where I sleep on them while they’re locking up, some of the tips are locked and blunted, some are puffy and curly and haven’t started to loc yet. I’ve loved every stage of the loc journey, and excited that I still have loads of time before they fully mature because this stage looks so good imo. Especially with a lineup and sides clean 🙏🏾 I’ve done a little bit of crocheting here and there but nothing drastic, like tucking in long hairs that aren’t with the loc or fixing loops, but I think something that helps me is getting it interlocked. From the get go my loctician told me my locks would just unravel after a wash and I’d have to get them retwisted every couple weeks (because I have a sensitive scalp and snapping hair that’s gone into a different loc hurts especially when I leave it for too long) so instead I just endure the pain of interlocking for an hour, and my locs stay looking newly retwisted for at least a month, then the other month is just looking like I have new growth but it’s still tidy. Interlocking does really hurt though! She does it way too tight so last time I got her to not do it so tight, and it still lasts just not as long. But I prefer that new growth look anyway! I don’t really like the scalp showing and all that

I just started my locs 2-3 weeks ago and my hair has already started budding (I have medium length 4c hair) and my journey starting off is going very good. The only problem is that my scalp stays super dry and before locs my way of moisturizing was with deep conditionings, what should I do know I use my rose water and oils, but it just doesn’t seem to help...

@@vanessahoward4484 you need a clarifying shampoo. I’ve been using taliah wajiid black earth full body shampoo and I love it. I sprits my hair with rose water and oil water and vitamin e oil blend. I also oil my scalp with a blend I made and wash my locs weekly every 8-12 days depending on what my scalp needs and my workout regimen.

Thank you u were at 6k now your more than 60k subscribers, that’s pretty dope to see! Glad to have subscribed to you I started my dread journey 2 1/2 months ago. I had. 8 month journey before but I had cut them (I didn’t have a loctician) but they were pretty cool just not maintained but I’m trying again now. Idk but based on those pictures my hair looks like 4b especially when it’s wet, but then again it looks like 3c (I’m black mixed with Mexican) my hair pretty much grows out spiky then soft and smooth at like 1 inch, then long and straggly at 2-5 inches and can look like 4b when I keep all my natural oils and minimize the washes at 6 inches ( I started my locks at about 6inches with the twists)

Same thing happens to me this is the start of my 3rd week and first retwist. I did not wash nor was it washed but my scalp was cleaned really good because of the fineness of my hair. I do not have a lot of hair strands I have thinner hair. But the loctechian said its looking good because she thought my hair was gonna give her a hard time. So hang in there because I am.
