Well, you win. Best video, hands-down, of any repair of anything on KZbin. Arrows, instructions, and actual hands-on repair in clear video. I am speechless. And now, I get to go do this to my future daughter-in-law's Ford. Thanks for the video...I REALLY didn't want to deal with the coolant!

The 2010 version with the 3.0L is VERY similar to this except didn't have to remove/move ANY hoses at all. Took me 15min to remove. Easiest starter I've ever had to change. Ours quit today and it was the original one. LOL. GREAT VIDEO!!

You saved me today! God Bless you and your family!!!! 2 1/2 hours in a Walmart parking lot with the help of a man I will call James! He gave me a ride to and from an auto parts store to pick up a new starter! May God Bless you James, wherever you are!!!

Glad it helped. Nothing like being somewhere and the starter goes out. Usually, they will warn in advance by dragging, causing slow cranking. After a while, it gets where you have to tap them to get them to turn. Then the final phase is where nothing works...then it's time to change them. Actually, the time to change them is when they start to drag! Thanks for watching!

Thanks, Manic! It does take a little time, but it's worth it if it will help someone out. A lot of people are like me...they've never done a certain repair before and don't know where to start. I can't tell you how many times I've done a repair one way...figured out it would work better another way...put everything back together...then do it all again the alternative way. My family, friends and neighbors think I'm nuts, but it's kinda fun...I enjoy doing it. Thanks for watching!!

To mirror what ManicMechanic007 said, one of the best how to videos I have ever seen! Very detailed, and clear precise instructions. Having said that, I am unable to get either of the 2 13mm bolts loose. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. (I'm using an extension and a ratchet on the back bolt, but I can't get it to budge)

Thank you! Your detailed explanation made it possible for me to replace my own starter for the first time saving me an appointment with the mechanic, hundreds of dollars, and towing charges. Nearly every part of the video needed to be followed precisely but it worked exactly as shown. I could not have done it without your video.

Glad it helped, Tim! The manuals say to drain the cooling system and remove the hoses for access. I try my best to avoid draining and refilling the cooling system. Luckily, it can be done without doing all that. Thanks for watching!

Thanks, I used this vid to change the starter in my 2006 Mazda tribute v6. The coolant hoses and evap stuff are slightly different, but easy to figure out. I was able to use a normal extension to get out the front bolt, the rear was actually the hard one for me. My starter seized on the flywheel, so I had to turn over the crank with a cheater bar to free it. Took about 3 hours and $125 for a remanufactured starter.

Craig Floyd it popped out, but didn't go back in when the key was turned off.....I had to turn the core in at autozone and even they were surprised when they saw it. The starter worked normally the day before, so I assume a rare failure.

But now the real question is: How exactly do I purchase you the requisite case of beer to offset all the dammits you saved me from? Seriously...I need to do this. Great stuff as the Haynes manual was pretty useless and every fix starts with "First remove these 8 other, non-related components to access this security bolt" :D
@GreaseMonkeyFever
@GreaseMonkeyFever Жыл бұрын
Knowing it helped is payment enough! You're right about the Haynes book...wanted you to remove some of the cooling tubes to access that bolt. Funny thing is, I did that video on a 2001 Escape. I have a 2004 Escape (with a blown engine) that I use as a "guinea pig" for videos, and I drive a 2006. That bolt is easy to access on those 2. After 2001 or 2002, they must've changed the design. Thanks for watching, and glad it helped!
