What an awesome Soviet mechanical beast. My family used to own one of those back in Kiev, exact same model and even color. My grandpa bought it new in 1978, and my dad and uncle drove it until 1998 when they sold it (it still ran). I wish I can someday come back and take one of those for a spin.

Moskviches never had 2 stroke engines from factory. Either you mixed it up with another car or you built a custom one, which wasn't all that uncommon in those years in eastern bloc countries, infact I wish more of those garage built "customs" survived to this day, I wanted to buy a GAZ-24 Volga with 2.4TD Andoria 4C90 Polish Diesel engine but I decided it was way too rusty even for $700. Too bad.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide the source of information because I forgot the title of the article (and it was a long time ago). But one thing I can say for sure: Moskvich has never been a bad car. This is even evidenced by the fact that he participated in rallies such as London-Sydney and London-Mexico City and not only participated, but took prizes, beating many foreign cars. This car is what you would see in Iron Curtain countries. I know someone who is a retired school teacher and he visited Poland, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Romania, and Czechoslovakia. In the photos he took. There were a lot cars but if you want to get a car, they put you on a waiting list which can be up to ten years for delivery. Only the lucky ones can have a car. A lot of room in that engine bay given the size of the car, but I guess back in the soviet era, you got what was "fair and equal", unless you were one of the uppers who were more fair and equal and got bigger and better things... :P

We had one in family from 1986 to 1998 i think. Mileage was about 160 000km when father sold it. It was green. No seatbelts on backseat.. Shit,i don't miss that soviet piece of shit.

Tervist! Siuke mure bmw e36 1.8 85kw. Esimest korda käima pannes käib ilusti, kuid kui korra seisma jätad ja uuesti käima siis jäävad pöörded kõrgeks. Milles võib olla viga?

Looks like a 1970's era Lada, or Fiat 124. Nice old car..

The only similarity with a Lada is that it has 4 weels and 4 doors. Totally different car.

@@Mihail_K. I don't think I said that it was 'exactly like' a Lada, I merely said it looks like a Lada. As the Moskvich is otherwise unknow to me, I was thinking of the Lada, which used to be common here where I lived.
