People like to trash talk french cars. But the enginees of peugeot and Citroën are actually good. I'm a bimmer-fan but as a peugeot owner as well, I've to admit peugeot motors need less maintenance. Without compare the comfort and handling of those cars of course.

the diference between the C15 and the Berlingo were astounding. the berlingo just hasn't aged .and years ahead in terms of performance and ride quality.. I still like the c15s

These cars are immortal, we have a 99' 1.9D at home. Once a tooth jumped on the timing belt, the piston and valve kissed and we thought it was over.. But we took the car to a friend's service and replaced the timing belt, we started it and to this day it drives like new. (No signs of damage at all)

When I was at school there was a boy whose mother bought a Berlingo 0 km! She just forgot one detail: she was so short that she couldn't lower the trunk lid! Her husband then decided to tie a small rope inside so she could pull the lid... Great car!!!

When I saw the XU7 engine, I thought, it will start first time, and it did hahaha. The XU7 and XU10 engines are one of the most reliable gasoline engines manufactured by the PSA group. 300,000 km for that Berlingo is little, it's still in the running-in process XDD!

It is a PSA "XU" engine, probably 1.8L. Pretty rare here in France while almost all those cars at this time was sold with diesel engines, especially the 2.0L HDI and after many of 1.6L HDI

My old Xsara Pic started first turn after 4 years on a drive. Was a 57 plate and by 2014 still had the original battery (that hadn't been maintained). Battery was sulphated and had been through a cold winter but somehow recovered after a few days of some encouragement. Put it back in and she was alive. Love the hdi/tdci engines even though the 1.9d and td get the attention for reliability. Also I always buy varta batteries when the need arises. I'm yet to have one die before the cars do

Wasn’t surprised at how easily this started back up. The Berlingo/Partner is a tough little thing, and the engines fairly dependable. Still occasionally see later ones floating around as little work vans for self employed people or a cheap mini people carrier for young families. Again, it’s only really rust and general wear and tear that has been the death of these.

Biggest problems are rust on rockers and torsion bar suspension on back. Almost every time first problem is the support/control arm bearing brokes and arm start to lose up and moving sideways and wheel starts to bend inside the body. That will destroy driving dynamics and always fail the inspection. That same problem is on every French torsion bar suspension cars Xsara, Picasso etc.

I bought a 2002 1.9 DW8 for £250 a few years ago with only 70k miles on it, with slight frontal damage. The older versions hadn't got the BSM unit and were a lot easier to work on. I put a set of seats from a Rover 400 into it and fitted a bulkhead. Returned a steady 45mpg but was probably the slowest vehicle I ever owned. Both torsion bars broke on it though and while it was sitting waiting for repair it accidentally caught fire.

the DW8 is a great engine, we had a few Partners in our family for working vans, my father's got to 780mkm, mine have 300K and it's used mostly in the city and abused as hell, the only major problem i had with was power steering pump i changed three times but again the poor thing have a mediocre turning radius that's why

A couple of things here and there, but mostly just age. Love how this inherited a few attributes from I reckon the Peugeot 106. Given enough time, a dry shed and a few aftermarket or spare parts .. it could be out on the roads.

Thi car is very nice. To work, to carry smaller things, some furniture, building materials and other things. This car will last a long time. Just change the oil and filters and there is something wrong with the radiator. But overall condition is good :) thank you for the video

In argentina, that generation of the berlingo is still produced lol, you can buy one with the 1.6 hdi although they're rather expensive for what they are. But it's super reliable

Rear end looks a bit "stanced", the suspension in these is known to snap the torsion bar with age (seized bearings, rust, etc.), resulting in the back end collapsing, not fun times when that happens, especially if it's got a load in the rear or towing something...

When Peugeot / Citroën still made reliable and solid cars... My first car was a 504 Peugeot. It was slow, but reliable and sturdy. Now I have almost the same one as in this video, a Berlingo 2L HDI with only 62,000km. Today Stellantis (Citroën's parent company) only makes crap. If only the example of PureTech engines, which are a real disaster for those who buy these models.
