Thank you Don. I wish I’d taken the time to make a full restoration video on this one. At that time I wasn’t serious about KZbin. 🤦🏻

The way it was started, is a good way to break ones wrist!

You're not wrong about that. I should probably include a disclaimer in the description. I've twisted the chuck bolt off a few times over the years but luckily have never broken my wrist.

Those old kohler generators are really neat. A buddy of mine has a k91 generator.

I was blown away by how well that thing worked with minimal effort. Everyone that walks in my garage wants to talk about it.

I love these old motors! They were built like battle tanks back then! I can only Imagine the stuff they sell now sitting for 40 years and trying to get it running again in 2061! 😁

Starting a Kohler K161 engine after it's been sitting for at least 40 years! This K161 Power Plant (Generator) was given to me by a friend as a challenge to get it running. It had been sitting untouched in a chicken coop since the 1980s. After pulling the flywheel and cleaning up the points and all contacts, I was shocked to see that the points and condenser were still working! I had planned to make a full-length video out of this project, but it took so little to get it running I thought it would make a decent #short. Not only was I happy to see the engine run, but I was even more surprised to see the generator still worked with zero effort on my part! They don't make them like this any longer! Thanks for watching, and don't forget to hit the subscribe button for many more future projects.

And they never will again. Pity.

Things Definitely aren't made like they used to be. 40 years of sitting and it can still run with a little work, now days you let something sit for a week and you're better off buying a new one. Lol

The days of “built to last” are a thing of the past. Pretty much everything sold today is disposable. Tough to even find parts for much of the consumer level equipment anymore.
