@baldeagle very excellent and super cool video, the only question I did have, when you take out the transmission oil lines from the radiator what did you use to cancel those out on the radiator itself? Thanks! Will be doing this hopefully before the end of the month 😃😃

@@cesartorres9151 I did not show it on video because I didn’t have these when I made the video. I ordered the caps below from Amazon and forced these over the connections on the radiator a few days later. Here is a link so you get the correct size. 👇 amzn.to/401qjvv

Have you checked to see what the slip speed is on your torque converter. That fluid was awfully dark for no longer than it’s been in there. I would advise to looking into getting that trans flushed after you’re done also. Great video

@@baldeagle242 tuning it out is very smart in my opinion. That engine configuration has been a real bad issue.

Great video! ...2014 6.2. High Country... 93K miles. 227-230 degrees is the highest my transmission has reached during mountain towing. What is the High Temp limit on these transmission oils? I purchased the thermostat bypass and the "M" oil cooler about a year ago. Also have the new gasket, filter and tranny oil on deck. Stumbling upon this actually reminded me it's a project yet to be completed. Thanks for the detailed production! Let's go!

@@ja-cj9ud Most say anything above 200 is an issue. The fluid starts to break down and degrade around to 200 degree point. The bypass and cooler has kept mine under 170 degrees even when towing.

If u changed fluid and updated the thermal bypass valve, and u r still getting excessively high temps, I would first look to see if the torque converter clutch is slipping. The 6L80 stock GM torque converter notoriously fails due to clutch slippage. The first sign is uncontrollable overheating issues. Then , “kaboom”. My “senses” tell me, is the pan fluid wasn’t sparkly and the magnet was free of metal, I’d check torque converter lockup, and replace with a billet TC.

@@onepiston5956 I’m talking with HP tuners now to see if I can’t work something out with them. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I sincerely appreciate it.

At the transmission, which tube is the hot flow out and which one is the cool flow in of the fluid? Thanks! And did you totally eliminate the radiator that shares the engine coolant?
@baldeagle242
@baldeagle242 2 ай бұрын
I did totally eliminate the radiator. The hot (or supply) side is the one I connected on the far side (driver side) of the cooler.

It’s been great. I didn’t notice a big deference after I installed the bypass. I assume my factory cooler was clogged because after I installed this it runs in the 140-150 range and hasn’t gotten over 170 even when towing.

Negative, I’ve since bought an HP Tuner to make other adjustments and found someone had the trans max temp set to 485 and turned off limp mode. They knew there was an issue with this truck before I bought it.

I follow the video and unhook the first line and turns out that was engine oil so if you have 2015 5.3 with the tow package your trans lines go into the ac condenser... not to the engine radiator

@4mudski It’s doing great, I don’t remember the exact mileage from this video but it’s at 111,800ish currently. Hasn’t been over 170f even towing since this was installed. I also bought an HP tuner and eliminated the factory program slip in 1st through 4th gear. This creates much less friction and generated heat.
