I have played SW since they became a legal army I think back in 2nd or 3rd edition. I would highly suggest getting Bjorn as your first HQ. He is simply incredible with what he can do on the table. His model looks fantastic. If you like the lore of the army Bjorn is the most revered Space Wolf in existence outside of the primarch Russ. As for units to get I would recommend Intercessors as base troops and getting unique units like Wulfen and TW cavalry. These units are not just good on the table but going forwards will bring you years of joy of modeling and watching them in action.

I’d love to see some death guard videos. I just got the dark imperium half and I just love how the death guard minis look, but I keep getting trounced by my friend who plays space wolves.

Another great vid. I still feel 2x standard Start collecting boxes and a wulfen box is a great base. Build 5x Thunderwolf cav Kitbash the spare Thunderwolf as a wolf lord 1x captain kitbash to a runepriest 1x captain as WG battle leader Then 1x 10 man grey hunters an 2x 5 man grey hunter squads Add your wulfen and you've got a nice little battalion. Just my personal opinion

its important to note that transports are basically mandatory, i recommend our special flyer for wulfen, a drop pod for blood claws or wolf guard, or an impulsor for the ever more common veteran intercessor + ragnar combo

Great Video! Should be very useful for Starters. When i started collecting SW back in 2016, Primaris weren't such a thing. I really struggled with how to kit out my regular Troops (wether Bloodclaws or Greyhunters). Rulewise I would recommend building and painting them as Bloodclaws. In a World full of Primaris, these Boys are still doing quite well, thanks to their special rules which Intercessors don't get.

I'd avoid Thunderwolf as a starting army unit IMO, they have their niche for sure but they are just too inflexible and too point expensive for what they can do, in 7th ed they were awesome, sadly in 8th even after the Psychic Awakening they are still not worth it, honestly all they needed to make them competitive was a charge after advance rule inserted, they are just too slow and a competent opponent will simply kite them, they are tough for sure but there's simply too much affective long multi-wound shooting now, they'll just get churned up. I'd suggest 2 squads of 5 intercessors, a squad of 10 bloodclaws(1 of which should always be a wolfguard), a Stormfang and/or Long Fangs and some Wulfen (th/SS) as a starting force, build appropriate characters that will buff your force, even a Wolflord/Battleleader with Stormbolter and Powerfist would be good to start with.

You missed the Space Wolves Talons of Morkai box, it looks pretty good. £100, but you get Intercessors (good), an Iron Priest (good), Wulfen (great) and a Stormwolf (probably inefficient but looks sweet)

I went for the start collecting space wolves box then a dreadnought and Wolfen which turned out great. Wish I'd known how amazing they can be in cc when I began, spent most my time playing against world eaters and their damn berserkers, so tried to out gun them to no avail.

Everyone talks about Grey Hunters but how would you run a Blood Claws unit? With a Wolf Guard Terminator Pack Leader? In a StormWolf? Complement with Wulfen nearby? Or are Blood Claws really just that subpar to Grey Hunters?

9 blood claws with a normal wolfguard with a SS in a drop pod can be really good. or just 2 5man squads in drop pods if you want to run 2 battalions as you do need the command points. Other than that you can rhino rush them but intercessor/impulsor rush seem to be better.

I run them wg-hammer/storm bolter, leader-fist, 1 plasma gun and 7 pistol/shield. I usually drop them next to my STALKER PACK, warlord Battleleader on thunderwolf who has the Saga of the Savage.

14 bloodclaws with wgpl in landraider or the stormwolf together with ulrik the slayer and u got a really punchy blob of models.

Do you give your WGPL a SS and chainsword? And is the only reason for not taking the terminator WGPL the extra space they take in a transport?

@@Ghislain82 I give mine a frostaxe and plasma pistol In the blood claws it's not a terminator because of the speed and the transport. But for my longfangs I give them a termi wgpl with cyclone and stormshield

Yeah, I agree this was more aimed at a typical player building up a flexible army rather than going straight for one optimised and powerful list (which is certainly a valid option)

Totally agree on sw have a rich lore and model variaty and named character emmersion ☺️ but some like to go Hard or go home lists, this should be Ragnar with a Primaris Wolf priest, 6x5 interssesors, 6 impulsors and some IF thunderfire cannon.. Which is not very fluffy nor lore rich 😅

It breaks my lore loving heart to see you suggesting primaris for space wolves :( A true vlka fenryka force doesn't include any primaris. They aren't fenrisians, didn't compete in any of the rites and traditions for recruitment. And those things are holy for the tradition loving wolves.
