CORRECTIONS: Master of the Vanguard unfortunately only affects phobos units, so sadly only good for Reivers on a deep-striking front sadly. And the hunting pack will also affect Skyclaws and Swiftclaws due to having the Blood claw keyword. Apologies for the errors, and thanks to N C and MariusM Creativite for pointing those out!

A very nicely constructed video and beautiful explanations. Thank you for the time you took to make it. One small correction if I may. You need to spend 2 cp to take advantage of the Stalker pack stratagem. One CP to create the Detachment and then one CP to use the stratagem after etc. Nevertheless thank you for the video man. Another correction that depending on the list build can help. Stalker Pack affect Battle Leaders not Wolf Lords. This means you can use a Phobos BL with Master of thr Vanguard to make that first charge, then use it to drag Skyclaws with a WGPL included with TH. You can also use it to do this and then gwt Arjac since he has the Battle Leader keyword. Exceptionally you would like to add a reroll source nearby too with Wulfen or Ragnar

@@barbarrojaa.c.4761 You can still put a Phobos Wolf Lord in a stalker pack he just doesn't get to use saga of the savage. Being phobos he still benefits from the stratagems. And you can still use a phobos wolf lord in a stalker pack give him master of vanguard with hero of the chapter and you know have the stalker pack strats the master of vanguard +1s and whatever else you put in there and the visinity. The benefit of the phobos wgbl is that he can deep strike

@@togashigr11 not really. You can put hik.on the Detchmanet but he does not get the Stalker Pack keyword. So you can't use the stratagems. You can use him to make that charge with Master of Vanguard but he won't allow his support to charge with him. So it has to be a Battle Leader

Sadly reread Pack Killers and it only applies to 1 unit, not all. Blood Scent applies to all Stalker units. But it still is a way to eat overwatch and make a reliable charge with a punchy uniy

I have played SW since they became a legal army. I would never use Wulfen without a Stormwolf. Put 7 of them with as much TH/SS as you can with a wolf priest and rune priest to protect and buff them. The Stormwolf costs a lot of points but it also does damage. If you are playing with adequate LOS blocking terrain you should at least survive long enough to get the Wulfen and WP/RP into charge range of backline and vehicles.

How does anyone get into close combat with Tau? Their only weakness is melee and the genius writers at GW decided they needed tons of buffs to specifically avoid getting into melee.

Buff all your units and characters with anti-overwatch, eliminate all their drones from afar with bolter shooting, open fire with the big guns, charge in and destroy whatever is left. Oh, and persuade your opponent drones are useless and just add extra expense.

Just a small correction for the stalker pack, it's not our wolf lords it's our wolf guard battle leaders basically our lieutenants. But besides the fact of the Phobos stuff, everything else is pretty correct and great video. 😊

great thing, just wanted to point out. The stalker pack from vigilus doesn't affect "wolf lords" but "battle leaders" instead. And the blood claws key word, is also for skyclaws ( jump pack ) and swift claws ( bikes ) , making it interesting for skyclaws maybe as much as rievers.

Ah thanks for the catch, appreciate the clarification. Yeah skyclaws are an interesting one, the extra attack makes them far more functional than normal assault marines.

@@auspextactics Yeah, skyclaws are actually pretty decent IME. Guess that youthful enthusiasm helps. Although it still feels un-fluffy to have a lot of jump packs in a SW army, they used to be very much the "boots on the ground" chapter - although they were just fine with drop pods even back then.

shooting is too good overall . the only balance for it is terrain which can be sparse at times.

I think as a buff to melee is that if a unit leaves melee the charging unit should be allowed "overwatch" with their weapons to penalize someone just leaving combat.

@@cmontygman Interesting idea. Maybe you could let Pistol-type weapons fire at full BS in that circumstance, giving them a bit more of a role on the battlefield.

@@richmcgee434 I think it should be melee weapons, they don't hit at full WS just 6+ just like normal overwatch unless otherwise buffed. As it stands you can work really hard to get your melee unit into combat only for your opponent to just leave(I get surrounding, but sometimes you just don't get that lucky) combat and shoot you again(since most armies have a way of negating the penalty). It'd feel more like a battle if your enemy suffers an actual penalty to leaving combat. It's annoying as hell to me that I just went through a round of shooting, then overwatch then if i fail the charge I'll have to suffer all that again...

Overwatch needs to be removed. Even if it's just hitting on 6's, it's still a second activation for shooting units, there's still ways to buff it(Tau sept/Iron Hnads, autohitting weapons in particular), it can be done for every unsuccessful charge, and multiple activations are an inherently game breaking idea in 40k.

The best way to get your Space Wolves into combat is to toss the 8th edition in the trash and pick up a copy of the Original Rogue Trader rule book. It is this book that they created each version of 40k from anyway. This way you will have one true set of rules to do with as you wish. Creat your own heroes and troop types. It's a great way to break free from GW restrictions and army killing.

Probably still won't convince Tau or Eldar to come over and punch you, but agree with the anti-Primaris sentiment on principle. Really hope TTS continuity gives Cawl the savage spanking he richly deserves.
