Local colleges and university often have clubs or organizations that may be closely aligned with your NPO. They are often young, energetic and haven't been jaded by the difficulties of achieving an important goal.

Thank you for all of your helpful and relevant content! Microsoft 365 has rolled out TONS of free resources for smaller nonprofits, including a CRM that looks super robust and integrates with LinkedIn. I've used Google Workspace for years, but I'm learning how to use Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to level up my new nonprofit. Microsoft also plans to release volunteer management software in autumn 2021. Their nonprofit package pretty much covers all categories that you cover in this video, but it's not clear until you've already been approved by their system just how many tools they provide. Lastly, I'll add Boomerang as an awesome email efficiency and scheduling tool.

@@AmberMelanieSmith Eh - a little bit of anything. I'm noticing opportunities to look at metrics in a different way, but can't until we track more ancillary data. Things that don't fit nicely into a CRM or financial system.

Can you talk about whether its reliable to file your non-profit with programs like Legal Zoom or Swyft File? I can't afford a lawyer to file for me and was wondering if those resources are reliable for me to use
@AmberMelanieSmith3 жыл бұрын
Many have used Legal Zoom successfully; there will be a cost for those services too (though likely not as high as a lawyer), and it probably depends on how complex your organization will be.

Also, which is more prudent: putting PayPal/stripe/square or using crowdfunding platform?
@AmberMelanieSmith3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on your goals and how big your audience is. Crowdfunding campaigns are most successful when you have a built-in audience of very engaged, loyal followers. :)

Hi Amber, can I start a crowd fundraising before getting the tax exempt status?

You can BUT the IRS may view it as personal income and you could take a personal tax hit from it.

Can I be the board of directors and executive director as long as I don't vote on items that would conflict of intrest
@AmberMelanieSmith3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could do that. Then other non-related board members (could not be your family or people related to you in other ways) would have to vote on things related to your interests (whether to hire / fire you / your salary, etc.).
@richunclejoey22492 жыл бұрын
Would you be on my board? You seem to have a grasp of the NP sector. I'm starting an NP that helps fund and organize with creative endeavors created by under recognized artists & creators, that have no access to capital, technology and experts, provided by mainstream publishers of creative works. I'm initially focused on music, but want to be open to visual and functional art
@AmberMelanieSmith2 жыл бұрын
You're very kind! :) People don't tend to serve on boards without being more familiar with the people and organization (it's a HUGE commitment!) but I encourage you if you haven't already to develop a Board of Directors "job description" and really think about the type of skills and expertise you need on your board and recruit from your local community! I have a playlist dedicated to Board of Directors things! Check it out for sure.
