There's actually a neat implied lore thing with the sculk and endstone resemblance: Endstone's inverted-cobblestone appearence implies a kind of pitted structure like bone or coral, implying that sculk may actually be native to or related to the stuff native to the End before the dragons arrived and destroyed most of it.
@velvetvioletta2 жыл бұрын
Love the underneath texture on that sculk catalyst. Sort of funny that you said you weren't sure if anyone would want it as a ceiling, because my literal first thought on seeing it was 'oh wow, perfect ceiling boss'. That's ceiling boss as in the architectural feature (fancy carved bits in vaulted ceilings) not some kind of scary monster that drops on you from above... in case it wasn't obvious.

A really neat idea (and one that I might do in my world) could be to have the sculk be the floor surrounding the corridors and to create so small bridges to the structures that aren't directly connected to the corridors, that way it's almost like looking out into the void when you look out of the corridors with just a "floating" city in it. You could also cover the outside of the corridors with deepslate to keep that dark feeling of the ancient city, while being able to decorate the interior any way you like.

My advice - early in the game stick to the Overworld.

Hi Pix…I have been a longtime fan and supporter of yours. I started watching your videos when you were at around 40,000 subs, from what I can remember. I was even a member of your Patreon for quite a while, but I had to stop for financial reasons. I then felt kind of guilty watching your videos since I stopped contributing. However, I started watching again and have mostly been listening to The Spawn Chunks lately and am making my way through the older episodes. I just finished listening to your 100th episode, and you and Joel are like friends as I make my long journey to and from work every weekday (nearly 3 hours of driving per day!). As I listen and watch you play Minecraft and see how much you love to build, I have found myself often wondering if you have ever considered playing The Sims 4. I kind of got my answer at the end of that 100th episode in the after-show when you talked with Joel about how you are hesitant to get involved with other games for fear of getting sidetracked from Minecraft, your bread and butter. Joel was talking about how much he enjoyed playing Satisfactory, which is what led to the discussion. I understand why it would be difficult to take the chance of changing your focus, but I am still very interested in whether you have ever played and what you thought of it. I was first and foremost a Sims player until I discovered Minecraft back around the transition between 1.11 and 1.12. I find that they are both very different games with a lot of the same themes…creativity, building, a backstory, and lots and lots to do. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts if you have played. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful content. It has been and will continue to be, I’m sure, a wonderful experience consuming your content. I also wanted to mention how impressed I have always at your ability to talk as you play rather than doing voice overs. I don’t know how you do that!

Luckily, I was just able to acquire a recovery compass, a bunch of enchanted gear and amethyst shards, and the two latest Minecraft music discs from the city while only triggering 2 shriekers in total. I’ve been finding a lot of things that benefit from adding Lush Cave elements. Jungles with dripleafs, glowberry vines and maybe azaleas(particularly trees) are pretty good looking. I also like to terraform parts of the jungle floors with the terraced pools separated by clay that are characteristic of lush caves. Nice little glades for axolotls. Adding a few lush cave plants to a dripstone cave can literally and figuratively brighten the place up. In his dripstone cave I’d only do that in moderation. Add a little light toward the ceiling and in patches on the surface. I think you’d want to keep some dark spots(with other means of spawn-proofing…)

In 2 of the Ancient Cities I explored there was a sculk sensor and 2 sculk shriekers inside the icebox. I had warnings and it was a great, sneaky way to trigger a warden warning.
