I wanted to take a moment to thank you for a lot of advice over the course of your channel's life. I have been building an animation/talent agency hybrid for the last 3 years and was shocked at how little information there is on the business side of animation. We are officially incorporating on the 1st of Jan, have a business deal with an anime studio in Japan, voice talent agencies in Canada, and a Walt Disney animation team joining mostly thanks to channels like this helping to understand the business more than just the basics. The biggest challenge I faced starting this venture was getting information, as most creators under large animation studios are under NDAs and cannot really tell you anything of value, I want to thank you and others like you for sharing what you have learned, I'm sure its helped a lot of people decide on the path they want to take for themselves.

I'm currently setting up an animation studio inspired by oriental studios from Japan and South Korea. It's called Kawaii Kreations, and we specialize in traditional 2D Animation for animations, commercials, games, and more. We also do some 3D Animation if necessary.

Hello! I have a very important question and i hope you can provide the an answer.. my question is: Can I be the director of my own animated series? I want to create a comic book in the near future, I've already come up with some interesting story ideas and everything. I'll be the writer and hire an artist because I such a drawing. I would like to start my own animation studio or pitch my comic to Netflix. I want to be the one directing my series so is it possible to be the director even if I'm not an animator? Or at least I can co-direct it.

can you do a video about creating your own animation software?
@StartAStudio3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. That's a bit outside of my skill set. I've made a few 2D mobile games over the years but creating animation software would be a bit over my head I'm afraid.

Hey Jon. I tried downloading your start animation studio Ultimate checklist. But it won't send to my Gmail so I can download it. What should I do?

If I have the capital to start one how do we search for projects to take on? I’d like to make an American anime studio but I’d like to work with Japanese studios till we can stand on our own

Ok, what about tax
@StartAStudio3 жыл бұрын
You'll need to pay tax on your earnings. The rate will vary depending on where you are in the world. This is going to be true as a solo freelancer or a company with one or multiple directors. If your business partner is also your life partner (i.e. spouse) you may benefit from being able to both be directors and take an allowed amount of income (+dividends) before tax is due. Speak to an accountant for more ideas on this. At our studio (in the UK) we typically put aside 20% of income from sales into a separate account. It gets rid of any worries and means there is typically a good sum left once all tax has been paid for that year. Plus personally it helps me gauge how we are doing as a studio by having funds in different accounts. You may also have to register for VAT (or similar) once your studio earns over a certain threshold. (**Plus above all, of course speak to an accountant for the best advice)
