4:31 Nice hearing the sl purr, had one on a farm that i used along with an old school toyota fj45 ute
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's always nice to hear one of those fire up. Such cool machines. Pretty amazing how well they work. Jealous of the FJ45. Those are pretty hard to find around here. Even completely rusted out ones are really expensive.
@themilkman47715 жыл бұрын
@@tommartyn yeah in Australia they're everywhere, barely rusted as we don't get snow or heavy rain in south Australia but more of drizzly, if you ever get a chance you should fly down and buy one of our fj45's or 70's and take it back to america, and that i'm surprised that the Ute culture didn't take off in america, as we had cool workhorse like the Holden one tonner line up, the bad ass sandman was the chick magnet or the gts line up and the modern day vz commodore Ute SS is like your camaro SS for cool factor, as the 2 door coupe's never really took off minus the xb falcon and hq monaro from the 70's (a.k.a the modern day Pontiac gto as the Aussie variant the Holden monaro is really rare over here), i really can image how hard it is to see our cheap fj's and not able to get one, as i was a lucky duck to get handed down a fj45 that belong'd to my great great uncle from new back in 1974, making me the second owner. honestly one day you'll need to do a video of going around in Australia and trying to start up fj's, holden or aussie ford's, as that's what i had to do as a kid was to get three fj45 running get an old 308 hq one tonner running and get a xa going, but the hardest was the f100 as she really didn't like going even though wasn't running for only 10 years compared to the fj that wasn't running in thirty years and fire up in one go.
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
If I ever get a chance i'll fly down just to check out some of Australia. Never traveled, But its the only place Ive ever even thought about going. Yeah, I think the american Jeep culture was really built in, and even though those awesome Toyota Jeeps are amazingly better machines, it was hard to break people away from the ubiquitous willys Jeep. I'd imagine the FJ's were a lot more expensive then the CJ's as well. There is a lot more machine, and engineering going on with them. haha, That 1946 Willys i have in the video, was actually my great uncle's! He let his other brother borrow it back in 1971, And he did 60mph up the road with it, (45mph is the max safe engine speed for those flat head willys engines and the 5.38:1 axle ratio) So it threw a rod. And it sat up across the street in their barn, till he passed away in 2005. Then I inherited it. :) Came with a good replacement engine, that was on a WW2 generator. So probably a 1944 or 45. We've been having a blast with it ever since. Here's a video of us having a good time with the ol beast if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyViK13dpumkKM

Why have you got all those vehicles laying around why dont you sell some of them off , gives them another life where they will be used , you say some of them been sitting for years ? , just curious , first time ive came across this channel . I used to do the same thing in the seventies , but I used to sell them off if they werent being used for some time just laying around . Kind of reminded me of myself back then . I do know the feeling . Im not being disrespectful , was just curiosity . Ive just subbed to your channel , you got me looking into my past when I was younger .
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Hey. :) I get what you mean But i've always felt the opposite to be honest. I've always met people who've told me stories of all these amazing cars/trucks/jeeps/atc's ect that they ONCE had, and got rid of. And for me, if its still hear, we will still resurect them at some point, and have an awesome fun time with them. Life is so short, i don't really want to lose future experiences with these awesome machines. I'm sure serious financial problems will happen, maybe even soon, and i'll have to sell things off. But i'm always going to regret it, and its probably going to feel like a part of me is dying. And in the future, i will miss what has gone. Thanks for subscribing. :) One of the best things of being on here, is getting to talk to people who've had similar experiences in the past, and hearing stories about it. Or talking about the same machines, but from a different perspective. In the 70's, you were seeing a lot cooler cars then people today will ever get to mess around with. I'd say, for america, the 60's were hands down, far and away the best era for automobiles. As far as how well they worked, and the power and all. I think 30's era cars are my favorite style wise. But mopar in the 60's was just nailing it. For japanese vehicles, the 70's were the best time. And engineering and production quality wise just blew the american companies out of the water so much. Lucky for the american companies they didn't make the same large size of vehicle back then, or american companies would have been blown out of the water decades earlier. So yeah, thats about it. haha. I don't sell things off, because i really like them.

haha, well, i tried to explain it in the description and at the beginning of the video. It would have been kinda stupid all of them running at once. Sadly three wheelers sell for way more then they should be worth. And stitching brittle cracked plastics with zip ties, is definitely one of the best things ever. It looks awesome, because its basically like battle scars, and it works so well, better then any other way of trying to repair broken plastics. And of course, its really cheap actually.

Great video Tom, and good job saving the best for last.. I was about to ask about the Celica. Been such a great car to ya =). And as far as calipers go.. just rebuild it yourself if it aint entirely seized, if it's sort of seized just blow out the pistons with compressed air and clean em up if they've got pitting. Did the same thing on my Scout. Held fluid, despite looking like shit. All that rebuild took was some hard work and some new dust boots
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir. Yeah... thats why the celica has been sitting. I took the clutch master cyl and the caliper in to rebuild them. (already rebuilt the brake master cyl) But for 2 years, the Clutch master, and the Caliper were sitting in my shop... up on the shelf of things to put back together.... So you can imagine they aren't the same anymore. Just going to have to buy new ones. The caliper was a disaster of parts to put it back on the car It was such a different design then i've seen before. There were all these springs and pressure slide things, that just kept falling out. The original owner used silicone to hold the pads and all together for assembly. At some point i was going to try that, but never found the motivation. Now its all burned. I think it was only like $30 for a fully loaded caliper on ebay though.

Hi I really enjoy your vids riding atc that are 30+ years old is fantastic, I not along ago a mint condition 1985 Yamaha tri moto 200. What a great atc I had to sell it, WIFE WAS SCARED I FLIPPED IT once with the kids on it. My wife was not happy and my children did not get hurt but that were scared OF It for that day forward, ohell. Anyway I ended up getting a Suzuki quadrunner lt 160, what a great quad. Plenty of fun a little safer. A little faster and I still have it to this day it's a 2003, been making the same quad since 1987 until 2007. Keep up the good work, very entertaining, stay safe guys and have fun, God bless
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! haha, yeah, thats part of the three wheeler thing. They are going to flip over now and again. Definitely sounds like you did the right thing going with 4 wheels. :) I do have to say though, the YTM200 is definitely a lot faster then an LT160. haha, Maybe you weren't reving the YTM high enough, or it wasn't running right. They are a decent bit quicker then an ATC200S. The Yamaha blaster is similar the way they made them from '88-'06
@MrPatrickgannon5 жыл бұрын
@@tommartyn Actually you would be surprised the top end speed of the tri-moto 200 that actually seems to be the brother of the BIG RED Yamaha's version anyway I clocked it at around 45-46 mph. The Suzuki quadrunners top end speed is 52 mph. But I did upgrade the tires from the original size 20x7x8 front and rear 22x10x8. I put brand new larger tires on it from Amazon 21x9x8 front and 22x11x8 rear, looks beefy and handles better unfortunately the top end speed now is a tad bit slower 44 to 45 mph top speed. I used one of those mobile traffic indicators used by the county's traffic unit to clock vehicle speeds on one of the local back roads here in town. It was early morning on Saturday not much traffic, not far from my house. Only did a couple of runs on the road, got off the road as soon as I could, nothing like one of your co-worker friends pulling you over for shit like that. I got to be carefull. But ya the Suzuki quad-runner is a medium sized quad about the same size as a Honda atc 200s, same size frame and tires of the atc's, has all the parts of the big boys just compacted into a smaller package that's all, great ATV has a hitch and all that is missing is a winch and maybe someday I can install a snorkel, all in good time my friend, no rush.
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Ah cool man. Sounds like a pretty great quad. They made a few 3 wheelers. Suzuki ALT's. I think 3. If i can even find one cheap, i'll pick one up. They might have a 160. I'm pretty sure there is a 110, and a 125 maybe. Ah, yeah, i was talking about acceleration, not top speed. haha! I actually did 52 on my 200S a few times. :) GPS Digi-Hud app on my phone. Its pretty accurate with my speedo in my truck. haha, yeah, probably best to stay off the road. :) Yeah, the Big Reds are geared lower for sure. All 3 types of them. :) I don't see too many suzuki's around me for sale. My buddy mike got an.. LT2504WD years back for $400. And it was totally worn out. And the carb always gave us problems. all independant suspension, 3 speed ranges, diff lock. So many complicated things on those. I like the idea of yours, the smaller, simple puppy.

@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, that thing is really cool. There is a MicroTruck at the local scrap yard. A Kia like this one, just has a bed on it. Pretty cool. They want a lot for it unfortunately. Haha I would definitely lift it, not lower it. :) It has enough clearance issues through the woods as it is. And it's not legal for road use. Haha, and lowered vehicles make me pretty angry. :) I saw a beautiful 1970 Chrysler Newport for sale yesterday then saw it was lowered 6 inches... and almost smashed my phone.
@jasonlyle38185 жыл бұрын
@@tommartyn Lol yeah, this thing would be scraping all over town if you lowered it. I didn't know this thing was a Kia, I know pretty much every Japanese car company makes tiny minivans and trucks like these. They're so sick.
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are really great. So yeah, its a Kia, so, Korean. And from everything i've read, its basically a clone/rip off of the Suzuki Carryall. And apparently a lot of the engine parts are interchangeable. Which is helpful. I don't THINK that Kia made a 4wd one, which is sad. But hey. what can you do? More interestingly though, Kia STILL makes and sells a clone of the Willys/AMC gladiator truck. :) But its more a clone of the military version, the M715 Kaiser Jeep. But the fenders are not like the M715, they are like the Gladiator. The Kia version is pretty amazing though, its got a probably un killable, turbo diesel engine, and I think a 5 speed transmission. And crazy heavy duty axles. Its pretty great. hahah, and its a KIA!! origin-military.kr.kia.com/en/kia/vehicles/km45-series/km450-cargo-truck.do

That poor 350x...😥 And that old El Tigre too, I just love those old girls. Pretty quick for their size and had a radiator for ice riding and lack of snow
@tommartyn5 жыл бұрын
Definitely not a poor 350X. I just brought her back to life 2 winters ago. Had been sitting for 5 years i think. Had to swap a TRX350 head on to it for good exhaust manifold stud holes. None of my el tigre's have radiators. Thats the 6000's. Mine are 5000's. originally 500cc free air engines. Funny though, the 350X's actually do have radiators. Though for some odd reason they are never called radiators. Even though they serve the exact same purpose as car radiators, just circulating oil instead of glycol water.
