I went thru the same thing in the beginning with my daughter. She's had braidlocs for 3 years now. Apple cider vinegar & baking soda soaks work wonders for removing buildup & lint. Also, the 2 point rotation on thick locs create holes in the locs. It's better to use 4 point on thicker locs. I wish I had made her locs smaller like mines, so I could do more hairstyles. But overall I love braidlocs, they're so convenient. Congrats on your journey.

Aww, she has a pretty smile. I love her hair and locs. 🤗 I am a little over 9 months with my braid locs. I personally only use water when interlocking. I notice that it seems easier to attrack build up or lint balls when loc'd. I think using very limited products will help against buid up or lint. Also, keeping the hair clean and tied up with a satin scarf or bonnet. 👍🏻🙏🏻

I've personally combined the following Essential Oils: cinnamon clove, cold pressed coconut, eucalyptus, grapeseed, jojoba, lavender, neem, nutmeg, peppermint, tea tree, along with other beneficial liquids such as fenugreek water made with purified water, glycerin, as well as Aloe juice combined in a spray bottle to optimize growth & moisture. Steaming my 106 Braid locs with this mixture took that to another level!! They're THICK, healthy & thriving!

Using a bristle brush will help so much with lit and friz. Brushing every day or every week helps a ton.

She’s so beautiful and sweet, Great job mom, you can always do a black rinse hair dye for the build up

how often should I get my braids interlocked? I have 4c hair and got my braids done a month ago.

You don’t want to do it too often because if you do it could cause your roots to thin, so I wouldn’t recommend no more than once a month. I interlock mines every 2 months
