I think most gardeners consider themselves “beginners”. As soon as you learn how to grow a certain type of plant well, you are ready to try something a bit more difficult. And since it’s just your second year in this cottage and garden you haven’t had a chance to figure out what types of plants thrive in your particular soil! But you will, in the meantime, enjoy the process. And put out some feeders, for birds, or squirrels or chipmunks whatever is running around your area! It’s so fun to make friends with all the creatures and watching the birds nest and the mama and dad squirrels bring their babies to eat the corn and walnuts I put out. One tip- buy some actual established plants. Not necessarily giant adults, but more mature than seedlings. 🌱 Seedlings are still hard for me to get from seedlings to ground to established flowering plants. And it is still quite nice to watch a baby mature and grow blooms and blossom in late spring or summer. Best of luck. 🪴 🌳 🐿️ 🐇🌷👩🏼‍🌾🐝🦋🕊️🪻🌻🪺🍄🍎🫐🍓🫛🥬🥦🫑🍐

I'm not a gardener at all but I would like to start. At Imbolc I planted a little pot of mint on my windowsill and it's started to grow (YAY!). I also have a Christmas succulent (Don't know its name but it flowers at Christmas). It's a cutting from a plant that mum has that originally belonged to my dad's parents. It's older than me so I'm really trying hard to look after it. My hardest thing is remembering to water stuff! I'd really like a hanging basket by my front door and some herbs on my balcony so I might just go for it this year.

From what I have heard Lavendar hates pots, probably why the one in the ground in the back is doing better than the potted. Thats been my experience also. You have my sympathy I have Raynald's also, anytime the temperature is below 65 degrees Fahrenheit my hands get cold and go numb, can't even hold a bottle of cold water from in the fridge. Take care.

Oh I haven’t heard that! Certainly seems to be the case in my garden too. I understand you completely on the cold hands. Thanks for watching :)

I have my peppers started and sprouted here in Illinois. Just waiting to put them in the ground! 🥰

You can plant those peppers in a container. Actually, you can grow them indoors, all peppers are indoor friendly. They'll need a very well lit window though.

We must be feeling spring starting to creep in... Today I bought carnations (my faves) as well and I can't wait to see them grow 💚

When I am ready to plant my own fruit and veg I will know where to buy my seeds now (Thomson & Morgan) because you have tried them and seem happy with the results. High altitude is not that uncommon near London such as Croydon, Surrey. I think phone signals in these areas are sometimes effected because of the high altitude.

🎩😺Hi. Carrots need a light sandy soil, otherwise they branch out and get stunted. We have a very clay based soil and that’s what happens. We end up with tiny carrot stick men.

Is your apple tree self fertile? If not there needs to be another tree to cross pollinate. Doesn't have to be in your garden, but in reasonable distance. Crab apples will pollinate any Apple tree, so even one of those. Clear the lawn from around the trunk so it's not competing with it. Also advise feeding with high potash. Young trees like that might take a year or rwo to first fruit as the need to establish 🙏

Yes, it was sold as a ‘patio fruit tree’ and grew two apples one year in a pot. I decided to put it in the ground last year and see what would happen, so I think this year we may get apples 🤞 good shout for the feed and grass
