Yay, another rallycross project! Of all the motorsports stuff I had to give up, I probably miss rallycross the most... so I'll enjoy vicariously wrenching on this project as it comes together...

Hope to see the Rally Z and the Rally Porsche run the same course. I think the Rally Z has an atvantage weight and gearing wise but the Porsche looks more aggressive.

@@ThisWeekWithCars Group B rally car livery, specifically the Rothman Porsche Rally Team, blue on the bottom, narrow rainbow divider, white on top. Ludicrous running lights on the front, like 4 6" lights and just go all out hooligan on it.

Dunno about the ralley-cross build, but if the maintenance on the 944 is as bad as I've heard, a Mad Max build might be in order.

The 944 and it's predecessor the 924 were the bargains of the Porsche family, so you ended up getting lots of non-typical Porsche buyers who could afford the initial car but who balked at paying for proper maintenance thereafter. Porsche owners mostly looked down at the poor adopted step child so that too ensured they didn't get any love. As used cars they were often bought by people who had never owned or worked on a Porsche, so you got a whole second wave of DIY bodge maintenance and repairs because those bargain hunters didn't want to pay Porsche prices. In fairness they are well balanced cars, comfortable drivers, with decent handling. For the money, you definitely feel like they're under-powered. Maintenance isn't that bad and parts availability is still good. Most things are DIY friendly if you have the time and some decent tools (metric). Steve will have no problem working on this car.

It was the wind blowing on the roof vent to the paint booth and slamming it shut over and over, makes it impossible to film some days

Do you balance your tires? I only see you mount them..

Not for off road use a little bit of mud or some rocks stuck in the treads are going to throw off the balance just as much or potentially worse, on a vehicle like this you would never notice if the tire is balanced or not but you will notice if it has a pound of mud stuck to it.

Why would you want or need more lights or roof rack for rally crossing? If the car fell in your lap it looks like a great "fall?" Have fun with it!

They have night events here once or twice a year and the original lights aren't going to cut it for that night rally.

You need to check out 'Only a road trip away ' and see what he has done with his 944. Proper suspension lift, roof rack lights and so one. Also he does really high quality videos.
